CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN

Logan stomped down the stairs already dressed in a black suit, white shirt and black tie, definitely set for a day in court!

"I've been calling your f**king phone for the past thirty minutes," Logan shouted at Justin, as he laid back with his eyes closed, paying no heed to Logan.

I wanted to explain that he has a serious hangover but since I'm not on speaking terms with him, I choose to stay out.

"JUSTIN!" Logan's voice thundered in the sitting room, leaving echoes all around and an ache in my ear.

I fought the laughter from erupting out of me, when Justin jolted upright at the sound of Logan's voice bellowing his name.

Twitching one eye open, "seriously man?" Justin shakes his head while taking in Logan's dress code. Sitting upright, "were we suppose, to be somewhere?" Yawning, he covers his mouth while trying shaking the sleepiness out of his system.

"Yeah," Logan looks across at me when he answered Justin, "the difficult client just called," was all he said for Justin to bolt of the recliner.

"Give me fifteen minutes," he threw over his shoulder while making quick steps out of the room.

Logan kept staring at me after Justin's departure, "have you had breakfast," he asks softly, his tired hungover eyes raking, over me.

Nodding, I turned away from him to concentrate on the book I was reading online.

I sense him staring at me for a few seconds more, "I have to be in court in less than an hour," he says, as if I am interested. "We'll talk when I get back," he informs me in a soft caring tone.

As much as I want to ignore him, the fact is that he is going to work and it's not mafia related so I should support him, even though I am still hurt at the way he spoke to me without asking me a question yesterday morning.

Shrugging, "thank grams that I am actually talking to you," I retorted, still hurt but aware I can't harbor resentment for the man that I love and pledge to spend the rest of my life with.

Chuckling, he lifts his eyes upwards, "thank you grams." He whispered softly before making short steps towards the daybed, where I was propped up reading.

"I'm so f**king sorry," he apologized, leaning down and pecking my lips lightly before stooping down and forcing my lips apart, deepening the kiss.

Opening my mouth, I allowed him to plunge his tongue further inside my mouth, grasping his short hair, hungry now for just a touch from him.

We broke apart, gasping for breath.

"F**k, I missed this," Logan whispers, pulling my head against his shoulder. "I've missed you!" Logan continued, holding me tight against him.

I didn't utter a word but remained listening to his apology and confessions.

"Just remember, despite how f**ked up I behave, I love you," Logan says, moving his lips to my mouth once again, "I love you," he whispers against my lips.

As we separate once again, "you should have some breakfast before you leave," I suggested softly, frowning as he shook his head.

"I don't think my stomach can hold down anything solid" he laughs, moving to sit on the daybed beside me. "I'll get coffee before I leave and meet you here for a late lunch." He tells me.

Adjusting his tie that shifted out of place, "okay," I mumbled, agreeing with him.

"Anything special you want me bring back for you guys?" He asked looking pointedly at my stomach, leaning to kiss my belly.

"Bar-b-Que?" I suggested and he chuckles.

"Bar-b-Que it is." He says looking over his shoulder when he heard footsteps approaching the sitting room.

Logan left for a cup of coffee and returned to the sitting room with two cups, handing one to Justin, "wake up coffee," he laughs at Justin's expression at the mention of wake up coffee.

From what I know, it would be very hot, very strong, no sugar and no milk. Definitely a wake up taste!

Kissing me one more time, Logan left with Justin who just couldn't help winking with a mischievous smirk.

I coaxed Jer to call Jess to see how she's doing while I await a call from Judge Delany for an update on Jess's welfare.

"Tell her you will send her groceries and whatever she needs while in child services." I whispered while her phone rang.

"Hello, may I speak to Jessica Scott please?" Jer who put his speaker on, requested from the woman who answered her phone.

"Whose, calling?" The woman asks gruffly with a dull, heavy voice.

Jer was intimidated at the tone of the woman's voice, so I nudged him to answer her.

"I'm Jerome Scott," Jer answered politely. "Jessica's brother." He added quickly.

"I'm sorry, but Ms. Scott is not allowed to receive any phone calls unless the court says so," The gruff voice woman explained.

"Oh, ok." Jer said, "I understand but can you ask her what she needs in means of toiletries and food so that I can send it for her?" Jer requests politely, while I mentally plan to call Judge during lunch.

"I will have her send you a text message and you can leave your purchases at Courthouse and a clerk will forward it to the home." The woman says.

"Thank you very much," Jer says before hanging up or waiting for the woman to respond to his courtesy.

Checking my time, "we still have an hour before the court goes for recess," I tell Jer. "I call contact Judge Delany for an update and see how best we can assist Jess from a distance.

Mom and dad came down in time for lunch but I decline, because I Logan will be bringing bar-b-que for the baby and I after his court session.

Mom ended up joining me in the sitting room with a plate full of strawberries as an apology.
