CHAPTER TEN

LEAH'S POV

I couldn't help how I felt at times when I'm ask about my initials matching my younger brother and sister.

The simple reason is that my dad didn't have a boy first and he was so excited that the closest girl name to match his name was Jamie.

I loved that name but when I lost dad, my very best friend, It hurt when I'm called Jamie so I decided to give the new people in my life, my middle name, Leah.

"Its a beautiful name and it suits you" Logan said interrupting my train of thoughts.

Frowning, other than dad, no one ever said that the name Jamie suit me.

Giggling, "you mean a free own way kinda girl or boy" Jess says.

Gazing intently into my eyes, "not really. I think that it's more like free spirited. It's a unisex name, showing her emotional strength."

Lowering my eyes looking away from him. He don't know me, he can't know me, the real me.

"Yes, that's my sister the pillar of our strength" Jess says turning to Jer. Right Jer?" she asks him.

Jer nodded without uttering a word.

"Let's eat" I said taking Jer's hand, as Jess took Logan's, leading him to the dining room.

I bumped Jer on the hip, as we walked to the dining room

"You ok?" I ask concern about his quietness.

Smiling for the first time since our guest arrive, he simply nodded, kissing the top of my head, leading me to sit next to Logan. Darn! I'm sure that Jess planned this.

As we sat down, Jer reached across for my hand, as I reached out and held Logan's who was surprised for a microsecond.

"Grams is looking down at us" I whisper softly to him, seeing a small smile on his lips and a kick from under the table as Jer said grace.

Amen, we all said one after another. Jer lifted the rice, handing the dish to Logan to serve him first.

"Go ahead" Logan told him, "I'll take after" he said.

I poked him with my elbow and he took that as a sign to take the dish and started dishing out the food.

This gesture from Jer, is him reaching out to Logan.

After the trip to the supermarket, the three of us made a quick bar-b-que, chicken and steak, with rice, potatoes and a green salad. A simple but I know it's what we do best and Jess wanted to impress.

Jess started the conversation of course, "Mr. Daniels, thank you for supporting Jamie at my school" she said cringing her nose. "that horrible Antoine is such a pervert, giving me a hard time because my sister" I realize where she was going with that conversation so I kicked her under the table.

"Ouch" she said, wincing as she glared at me.

Logan tensed up next to me and stopped eating to look at me before turning to Jess

"You ok ?" he asks with raised eyebrows, as Jer snickers next to Jess.

"You guys, behave, we have a guest. This is why we don't go out much" Jer told Logan chuckling.

"So this happens often?" Logan ask curious.

"What? The having a guest over or the football under the table with these two?" Jer grins.

Thinking as if it's an actual question, " the guest thing" Logan ask looking at his plate.

My siblings and I looked at each other, "Actually since grandma died eleven months ago, you're our first guest" Jer said thoughtfully.

Looking around at all three of us, "I'm sorry for your loss," he says sympathetically.

"Thanks," Jer said digging into his steak.

"Listen Jerome, I want to apologize for not giving my name at the shoot. The thing is that it was unexpected and amusing at the same time to be considered good enough to be a model. I just went with it and now your sister is blackmailing me into using those photos for the AD" he says.

Shocked, my brother glared at me, "really?" I turned on Logan.

"How did you come up with the last name Grey so quick" Jess muse thoughtfully, looking at me, catching Logan of guard by his awkwardness at the question.

Jer looks at me with a smile, then at Jess before turning to Logan, waiting for his answer with mischievous grin.

Chuckling, "yes do tell" Jess added.

Chuckling softly, "so this is what it's like with siblings around a dinner table" Logan asks.

"You're stalling" Jess sings while Jer laughs softly.

Turning his attention to me, "you really don't know?" Logan asks me.

Shaking my head, I shrug my shoulders because it doesn't matter to me.

" Your gray eyes" Logan blurted out.

My eyes widen in shock. I looked at the three of them then back at Logan.

This is a dangerous game, that needs to end and quickly.

Even though I'm still surprise at Logan's confession, I pretend to dismiss it started cutting up a piece of chicken, putting all of my concentration on it.

Taking my cue, everyone started eating with Logan and Jess discussing school and pier pressures.

For desert, we had apple pie and ice cream, all home .made.

Impressed with the meal, "you guys can really cook" Logan says.

"Did you think you would have had to order us pizza?" I ask abruptly.

"Jamie!" Jer and Jess shouted my name at the same time.

"I'm sorry", I said standing up and walking to the kitchen, embarrass, because something was bothering me and I can't understand it.

The footsteps that followed me didn't belong to my brother nor my sister.

Taking a deep breath, I turned to face Mr. Daniels. "Why are you here?"I ask softly.

" You invited me?" Logan question me.

With a small smile, "I mean, here in my home. You could have decline the invitation" I told him hoping grams didn't hear me speak to a guest like this.

Immediately feeling ashamed, "that came out wrong" I said as an apology, hoping that he understood.

Looking beyond the kitchen window, "my mother would love to see your flower garden" he says softly.

Looking outside, then back at him. "Would you like to take a walk?" I asked politely.

Staring me in the trying to see if I mean it, "yes, thank you" he agrees.

I took two wine glasses, giving him the bottle he bought to open. Pouring out for the both of us, I walk to the back door turning on the lights into the garden, opening the door, leading Logan outside into it's beauty and aroma.
