More Goblins (1)

Ky and Ariel set out towards the mountain in the distance.

They seemed very confident in their abilities, as they weren't attempting to be quiet at all.

Or maybe it was arrogance instead of confidence.

"Hahahaha! What did she say to that?" Ky shouted.

Ariel was currently telling a story about how she fought back against a bully in highschool and embarrassed her in front of the whole school.

"Haha she couldn't say any-"

Ariel was cut off by the sound of rustling leaves to their right.

The duo stopped in their tracks and looked for the cause of the sound.

After not seeing anything for a minute or so, they continued moving forward.

This time however, they were not talking and were on full alert.

Ky spread out his mana sense a few seconds after they started walking again.

'Shit!'

"Ariel!" He quickly whispered.

She whispered back, "What?".

"We're surrounded…"

Her eyes went wide and she started searching for enemies.

She was about to use her own mana sense, but before she could they showed themselves.

Fifteen goblins walked out from behind trees around the duo.

They were instantly surrounded, just as Ky said.

They wouldn't usually be scared of goblins as they found them extremely easy to defeat, but this group was different.

This group of goblins were slightly taller than usual.

That wasn't the end of their differences to normal goblins. They also had warpaint all over their more muscular bodies.

They had real clothes and real weapons in their hands or on their backs.

They also had small tusks that were similar to the tusks hobgoblins had.

Ky and Ariel could also tell that these goblins were stronger than usual because of their mana.

They could sense much more mana within these goblins than the goblins that were on earth.

"Aklfjdsa Bodlsajkfn!" A goblin with a spear shouted.

The group of goblins stopped advancing after reaching a few meters away from the humans.

"We can't understand you." Ariel said.

Ky slowly grabbed his daggers. Afraid that a sudden movement would start the fight before he was ready.

The goblins watched him pull out his daggers, but for some reason did not attack.

They looked to the one who shouted.

'He must be their leader.'

"Oknoflsd Bikljfnas!" The goblin group's leader shouted again, but it was something different this time.

Whatever he shouted caused the group of fifteen to charge the humans.

"Ariel spread them out!" Ky shouted.

He knew they would need to use mana to get out of this, but they couldn't if they ran the risk of harming each other with their attacks.

If they could split the goblins up and drag a group away each, they could freely attack them with their magic.

Ky parried an incoming spear from a goblin with blue war paint all over his face.

He then bolted through the opening between the blue faced goblin and one with brown war paint.

The brown war paint goblin tried to stab Ky with its short sword, but Ky saw it coming and jumped over it.

Wooosh!

The sound of something slicing the wind flashed by Ky's ear.

'Ouch!'

An arrow grazed his right ear. Luckily it only left a scratch instead of lodging itself into Ky's head.

He turned around while still running to find the source of the arrow.

There were another ten goblins hiding in the trees with bows in their hands and arrows knocked.

"They have archers!" Ky tried to alert Ariel.

Woosh!

Ky dove to the left.

The arrow whizzed past him.

He stood up and turned around, ready to face the goblins now.

There were eight of them chasing him.

"Hey, isn't that a little sexist? Why did I get most of the goblins? You guys know Ariel is slightly stronger than me right?"

The goblins ignored him and continued their charge.

A spear made its way towards Ky's unguarded face.

He brought both daggers up, using one of them to deflect the spear.

The other was used to deflect the sword that was aimed at his thigh.

Ky started to counterattack the spear user.

The spear had the longest range of any melee weapon, so he wanted to take care of that first.

Woosh!

"Agh!"

Another arrow flew towards Ky, but this time it struck. It lodged into his right calf.

'I have to do something about those archers.'

Ky broke off most of the shaft, but left the head in his leg. He knew if he pulled the whole thing out right now it would just make the wound worse.

He made his mana start rotating through his body.

He was going to create a wind domain.

In his wind domain Ky would be able to deflect the arrows without spending too much mana. However, his mana would only be able to last at most 30 seconds before he ran out.

Ky spread his mana out and took control of the air within a 1 meter radius of himself.

Woosh!

Another arrow came, but this time it was pushed off course by the wind.

It missed Ky by a whole meter.

'I can use less than that.'

He used too much mana to push that one off course. It would be much smarter to make them just barely miss than to make them miss by a large margin.

Ky charged the spear user who was still recovering.

The spear was thrust towards his torso this time.

He tried to parry, but there was much more force than expected behind the spear.

Ky was only able to block the spear and stop it from stabbing into him.

He knew another sword would be making its way to his back by now so he quickly turned around.

He was a second too late.

Ky avoided serious injury by turning, but the sword still sliced across his back.

He didn't scream this time, but it still hurt.

Ky turned a little more and blocked another sword that was coming his way.

This time he was able to parry as well.

The goblin stumbled backwards from the force. Ky immediately charged in and stabbed the monster in its heart.

Ky didn't have time to pay attention to the message that was a little bit different than usual and the new message.

Woosh!

Right as the monster was stabbed Ky backed up.

An arrow whizzed right past where his head was a second ago.

He didn't need to use his mana this time as he predicted it would happen.

The archers were shooting only when there was an opening. Ky knew that when a goblin was killed by him, it creates an opening, so he accounted for that.

Ky turned back around to the spear user and dashed to the right side of the monster.

This broke up the circle the goblins were once again trying to form around Ky.

The spear goblin had to turn around to face the threat behind him.

Ky stabbed towards the creature's head.

It raised its spear and swiped the dagger away.

Ky used the momentum of the parry against the monster. He spun in the direction that the hand with the dagger was pushed and stabbed his other dagger into the goblins throat.

Or he would have, if he didn't have to take care of another arrow.

Woosh!

Concentrating on his mana caused him to pause long enough for the monster to back away from the range of the incoming dagger.

"Grrr." Ky growled in frustration.

A sword goblin dashed in to protect its kin and tried to slice Ky in half from his torso.

Ky jumped back and stabbed his dagger into the creature's wide open head.

He paused expecting another arrow, but it didn't come.

Two sword goblins dashed towards Ky with the spear goblin in the middle of them.

The sword goblins tried to slash Ky again.

This was a mistake on their part.

They both slashed towards the spear goblin.

Ky jumped backwards, avoiding both slashes.

The sword goblins couldn't stop the momentum of their swords.The spear goblin didn't even have time to process what was happening before it was killed. He was sliced in half by his own brethren.

Blood spurted up in a fountain from the bottom half of the spear goblin before both halves fell to the ground.

The two sword goblins stopped for a second and looked down with wide eyes.

They had just killed one of their own by accident.

This was the second worst mistake they ever made in their lives.

Ky stabbed his daggers towards the turned heads of the goblins.

Woosh!

The arrow was instantly deflected.

"Five down, three more to go." Ky mumbled.
