"Although I called them slimes, they are a bit different than I recalled… their eyes are either red or dark, and they look quite vicious," Darius thought while furrowing his eyebrows. "Taming them will be hard, I guess… anyway, I prefer the design of Porings."
Putting Darius' preferences aside, they were on his way, and he had to do something about them. After looking around the area, Darius found several wells, and now and then, a slime would come out of them.
"Now, this explains how the villages were wiped out," Darius thought. "They were attacked all at once… their base is underground."
Darius checked the Chaos Compass, and the needle was calmly pointing to North… there was no city there, so his destination wasn't there. Still, the slimes were red, blue, and green… that gave him a certain idea.
"Let's make another island for them and surround the place with walls," Darius thought. "No… an island that is also a pit will do it."
The slimes were easily reached the thousand mark, and yet, they weren't moving. There was not enough food for them, but they didn't need it for some reason… that was even better for Darius.
After climbing down the hill, Darius reached the plainlands, but he still had to walk for several minutes before the slimes could see him. Dozens of them moved toward him while jumping… they were as slow as they looked weak.
However, they didn't have a creepy faces just to scare their targets… they had it because they had some tricks up their sleeve. Once they were twenty meters away, they opened their mouths, and they used their attacks: magic!
Fireballs, Ice Arrows, Wind Blades… all that generic good stuff flew toward Darius' head. Making them disappear in the portal would be easy. Still, Darius jumped to the side and rolled once to dodge them before getting up again. Their firing speed wasn't something to laugh at… they crossed those twenty meters in a single moment.
The Fireball caused a small explosion of half a meter radius while the Wind Blade passed through and cut dozens of meters of grass. The potential of cleaning yards with that spell was off the charts!
"It seems that my luck is finally turning around… one shouldn't start facing level thirty orcs from the beginning, after all," Darius thought.
While Darius was saying nonsense, the monsters prepared their next wave of attacks. He just ran to the side and dodged them while keeping a close look at the beast… he wanted to learn their magic. Still, he couldn't even begin to comprehend how they could make those things appear in front of their mouths just by opening them.
"I need some samples for now…" Darius thought and then grabbed several spears through his portal.
Before the next wave of attacks could come, Darius managed to count up to three… and then the slimes fired again. They couldn't fire those attacks all the time… usually, Darius would think that they would have a limit in their mana pool as well, but he decided not to count on that.
Darius kept running with several spears in his hands until the enemy's attacks could be finished. Still, then he noticed that half of them didn't attack… only the red and green ones attacked.
"Sons of a bitch… why all the monsters here are so smart?" Darius thought and then threw the first spear at them.
The spear flew at one of the slimes. Still, five of them that were blue used their Ice Arrows to attack the projectile… unfortunately for them, that hadn't been enough for the weapon to be stopped, and one of the blue slimes was pierced and then exploded like a bubble.

"Only ten?" Darius furrowed his eyebrows. "If they are this weak, my farts can kill them."
Maybe Darius underestimated his growth in the last few weeks… since he didn't see monsters using magic until now, he thought that those that could use it would be a cut above the others…
In any case, Darius threw another spear and impaled a red slime that exploded in the same way. That was enough for him to feel a bit less worried… in the end, he stopped moving and just waited for the next wave of attacks. When the numerous projectiles almost hit him, he made his spear spin and blocked all of them… like a boss. He tried to look like that was the case, but the explosions of the Fireballs burned his fingers a bit, though.
"Who wants to go to the afterlife? I am selling tickets for that location," Darius said and then dashed toward the slimes. "You can buy it for the low, low price of completely free!"

Before the slimes could attack again, Darius reached them and split half of them with his spear… the others had the audacity to jump and hit him with their bodies… the red slimes felt his skin burn, and the blue slimes made his skin freeze, and the green ones made his flesh being cut by something razor sharp.
"You guys will be my first test subjects, be thankful for it," Darius said and then grabbed the slimes and made them cross the portal.
