The third royal Princess was filled with a deep sense of shame on behalf of her big sister, the second Princess.
Although from an objective perspective, it was not a surprise for those who were serving the Queen and the Princesses closely to see this transpire.
It was horrible this time, despite that they did not have a reaction seeing that the second Princess was bloodily laying on the carpet.
They were outside, if they could hear Princess Liezel's voice calling for them, it would be inevitable that they would hear Queen Eriela's screaming and Princess Jasmine's lament.
Most of the time, they did not have to witness this unfolding in their eyes or ears; Queen Eriela usually punished the second Princess in her garden where no one could enter besides the three of them. Yet, there were instances like today, where their queen would march into her chamber room with the other two princesses to torment only the second Princess.
The number of serving the royalty who knew this side of them was limited, they were chosen and were deeply indebted to the queen. Some of them might not be in favor of how the queen was disciplining her daughters but they would never voice out their thoughts.
They could not afford to offend Queen Eriela.
"Enough with the discussion," Princess Liezel intervened. "Hurry up and prepare for my mother's bath."
"Today it should be filled with warm milk to moisturize her delicate skin. It should be warm enough and there should be some odorless medicine to elevate the cold on her muscles. Make sure to scatter enough petals of roses to cover the bathroom's aroma with the floral scent. It will help to make her relax. Send the best masseuses to massage the queen's body."
"Yes, Princess Liezel," Lady Delfina replied, she held her skirt and curtsy before gesturing to the maidservants to follow her to prepare the lavatory.
"Listen, Mother has to feel refreshed after this bath! Or someone will pay for it." Princess Liezel added.
"Yes, Your highness!" Lady Nieve nodded her head and chased after Lady Delfina.
"Mother, aren't I the best?" Princess Liezel redirected her eyes to her mother.
Queen Eriela smiled at the third Princess.
"Yes, you are."
Concluding that the queen's mood was elevated, "Mother, I think it would be necessary to confine Princess Jasmine so that she could reflect on the mistakes she had committed today."
"Right. I almost forgot to say. You are not allowed to leave your quarters, for the time being, Young Lady," Queen Eriela said coldly to Princess Jasmine.
"Y…yes, my… Queen." Princess Jasmine struggled to speak.
Queen Eriela pressed her lips together and narrowed her eyes at the second Princess for seconds.
"Lucinda! Bring this pathetic child to her quarters without being seen by anyone."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Princess Liezel clings to Queen Eriela's arm. "Let's go, Mother. The weather is especially nice today to stroll."
The maidservants kept their heads down, while the ladies-in-waiting followed the queen and third Princess.
It was not only Princess Jasmine who could differentiate the favoritism that Queen Eriela had for the princesses. Everyone who was working close to the queen was well aware of the disparity in the treatment.
Lady Lucinda had witnessed it all from the very beginning.
She was the one who saw how indignant Queen Eriela was the moment the second Princess was born. It was normal for women to hate their children because of self-doubts and other factors once they had their first child. It was only natural that Queen Eriela needed adjustment to accept Princess Jasmine.
A year after, the third Princess was born, and Lady Lucinda how delighted the queen was as soon as she saw Princess Liezel's gentle blue eyes. By that time, Lady Lucinda assumed that the queen had finally adjusted to becoming a mother to her daughters.
As time went on, Lady Lucinda's assumptions were proven wrong by the queen herself.
Queen Eriela simply did not like her first daughter.
It was a custom that the nobility was not required to take care of their children. Children had a nanny on which they could rely.
Lady Lucinda never had a son or daughter after she got married. She was infertile. She only coped with that misfortune by spending most of her time, taking care of Princess Jasmine when she was an infant.
Basically, she was the second Princess's caretaker.
Queen Eriela was occupied with gaining influence on the high society, the two princesses taking care under Lady Lucinda's wings.
The queen would always spare time for her youngest daughter, while at the same time, she never spared a glance at her eldest daughter.
Lady Lucinda's heart ached for Princess Jasmine; she could never show the second Princess sympathy or pity.
Lady Lucinda did not want the second Princess to become weak-hearted. It was good enough that she was developing a heart of a stone, and never contemplated how unjust the queen was to her.
Lady Lucinda believed that Princess Jasmine would reach the highest power if she kept her intelligence and stoned heart upfront. She believed that one day, Princess Jasmine's day of misery would end, and she would start living lavishly to her heart's content.
So, it was alright to suffer a little— these obstacles would make her stronger.
She watched the queen and the third Princess leave the premises and swerved her eyes toward the third Princess staggering on the carpet.
Although Lady Lucinda deeply believed that this was just an obstacle for the second Princess. Sometimes, she just wanted to protect this child in her arms… in a time like this for example.
"What are you all standing for? Hurry and assist the second Princess!" The maidservants rushed toward the second Princess. "Call Royal Physician Hailey and tell her to come to the second Princess's chambers immediately."
She could not baby the princess. Princess Jasmine had to be capable enough to stand on her own two feet.
"Princess Jasmine, please hang in there."
"Lu… cinda, I'm sleepy. I will sleep for a mo…ment."
"Yes, Princess..."
