Chapter 28: A Toast

Zeke slowly raised his glass of orange juice up in the air. "A toast," he said. "To celebrate being done with making decisions for the wedding."

"Don't jinx us," Azia said from the other side of the cafeteria table, raising her glass of water to clink against his cup. "Now that you've said that, something is certain to come up at the last minute."

Zeke grinned and shrugged at her. "Even so, we've gotten through the onslaught of meetings, everyone has been hired or commissioned, and our mothers are happy. That feels nothing short of a miracle to me," he chuckled.

"Well, I can't argue with you there," Azia said and grinned back before sipping at her water.

While they had to make meal selections for the wedding, Azia and Zeke had discovered a mutual love for breakfast food. It was three o'clock in the afternoon, but both the heirs had elected to celebrate the end of vendor meetings by way of bacon, eggs, and a small mountain of hash browns each.
