Three days later, five figures could be seen walking northwest, the only light being that of the moon. The one leading the group was Fate. She, like all the others was dressed in an all black bodysuit. On her left hip she had a pistol in a holster. On her left hip she had the ammunition. Then she had two knives, one secured to a sheath on both of her boots.
The person closest to Fate was another girl with long black hair tied in a ponytail and brown eyes. After her was a young man with buzz-cut brown hair, green eyes, and a goatee. Then there was a younger-looking man with spiky red hair, green eyes, and tan skin. The final person in the group had short black hair, dark skin, and brown eyes.
All of them were different and had different strengths and weaknesses. And that's why Fate had grown found of them, even though she always worked alone. She could tell that if they continued to train and work together, they would definitely surpass her skill one day.
However, if it were up to the people at that facility, they wouldn't live to see those peaks of strength and skill. But Fate wasn't going to let that happen. She was going to make sure these for got out alive. Even if she had to…
"Captain, what's up?" asked the black-haired girl, interrupting Fate's thoughts.
"Nothing. Why do you ask, Tessa?"
"It's just… you seem a bit… I don't know… sad?" she answered.
The African American in the back of the group laughed, "Hahaha! Vice-Captain, not to be rude, but do you have a screw loose? Everyone knows that the Mad Wolf doesn't fell emotions."
"Stop it, Ray" said the red-haired teenager, "You know that the captain hates that nickname."
"Oh yeah. Sorry about that, Captain."
"It's fine. More importantly, we're getting close to our destination. And to answer your question, I'm fine. Thank you for your concern," Fate said with a serious gaze, which made Tessa blush a bit.
"Don't we have yo worry about the drones monitoring the border?" asked the brown haired man.
"Don't worry, Mike. The drones won't come near this area for at least another 10 hours, which is more than enough time to finish our mission. And even if they did, these bodysuits block our thermal signatures. So we should be somewhat hard to find unless they're looking for us," the red head answered.
"Heads-up everyone. We've found it," Fate said in a dark tone.
Everyone peered over a craggy rock to see a large facility made out of sandstone. The facility had multiple floor that went higher the closer it got to the center, which had five floors. It had very few windows, Fate had to guess that it got hot in there, meaning that by now, most of the guards should be sleeping off their exhaustion.
The entire place was surrounded by an electric fence. Within the fence but outside the building, Fate could see several large vehicles, including hum-Vs and even a couple helicopters. The entire team was surprised to see them so well-equipped.
"I thought they didn't have any toys like this. All of the bombs were just several pounds of C4. If they had this kind of firepower, then why aren't they using it?" the redhead asked.
"Don't know, Red. Maybe they're gearing up for something big," answered Ray.
"That's probably it. We need to disable those things before anything else. That way, if Kamran escapes, he won't have the equipment to do much of anything," suggested Tessa.
"Good plan. Then that's what we'll do. The two of you will go set the micro-charges on the big machines. The other two will set them in the place they're holding their weapons and explosives," Fate explained.
"What about you?" Tessa asked.
"I'm going to find Kamran. Once you've set your charges, meet back here, and don't set off the charges until I give the signal. And one more thing…" Fate's team looked at her, "… once you've detonated the explosives, run."
"What?! You want us to leave you behind?!" Tessa asked with a devastated look.
"That's right. I'm going to take advantage of the chaos to kill Kamran. It's better if you all just leave."
"No way! I'm not leaving you!"
"That wasn't a request, Vice-Captain Tessa. That was an order," Fate said with a glare.
"With all do respect, Captain, but there's no way in hell that we're leaving you behind. I don't give a fuck if you want to kick us out of your unit or even punish us," said Ray.
"Same here!" Tessa said.
"I'm not leaving you Captain," said Mike.
"I'm in too. I'd we're getting out, then we'll do it together," said Red.
Fate glared at all of them and then sighed, "You're all fucking idiots. I'm not going to kick you out of my unit. No, when we get back, I think I'll increase your training tenfold."
They all got a chill up their spines. But even though Fate said this, she was happy that they were loyal to her and to each other. They began to sneak towards the terrorist base. But all the while, in the back of her mind, Fate knew that she was marching towards her death.
