Chapter 14

“Are you well?” Solna murmured. Damn, but Vius had thought he had hidden the reaction better than that. It was as bad as his first Council meeting.

“Nothing I can’t handle.” He hoped, at any rate.

Solna swung him around and gently tipped his chin up with a thick forefinger to meet calm eyes. “This is easy, I promise.” He dropped a light kiss on Vius’ lips, then kept talking. “We will be announced, then go before the Sarain priestess and she will marry us. The feast begins immediately after we consummate on the throne.”

“It is the consummation part of this that I am having difficulty with.” Vius pulled away a fraction and cast his eyes down to stare at the bear crest on Solna’s jerkin. Anything not to meet his eyes for this talk. “We elves are not carnal in this voyeuristic manner and I am not entirely certain I’m able to give in for this.”
