Smart foam

When Devon calmed down, both of them planned to stay in the living area. Devon insisted on meeting her friends from the television.

Since Lewis didn't really know how to keep her entertained, he let her be. Whatever the Queen.

Just as they exited the room, Devon raised her brows in bafflement. There was Agnes, wiping the table.

"Miss." She bowed with a bright smile on her face. Her eyes discreetly darted from Lewis to Devon, causing her smile to stretch broader.

Who wouldn't? It's her first time seeing them together. They looked like newlywed. Not to mention, this was the only time Agnes saw Devon, had this bright aura around her.

"Greetings!" Devon skipped her steps toward her. She stopped several steps before Agnes, peering at her from head to toe.

"Miss?"

Devon grinned brightly. "You look like someone I know."

"Huh?"

"Don't mind her." Before Devon could spew more nonsense, Lewis perked his chin up.

Fortunately, Agnes was quick to understand Lewis' gestures. Thus, she offered Devon a smile and moved on to her other task.

Before she could leave them alone, Agnes stopped. She turned her head around to Lewis.

"Should I prepare lunch for you and Miss Lin, young master?"

"Uh…" Lewis pondered about it for a moment. "Yes, please."

Agnes only smiled and went away. She wanted to give the two some quality time.

'I'm so happy for Miss Lin.' Agnes giggled, as she believed spring would finally come forth in this house.

Meanwhile, Lewis watched the jovial Agnes, shaking his head, sighing.

'Somehow, I don't like to clear up the misunderstanding.' He thought internally.

When he shifted his attention to Devon, she already turned on the television, standing near it.

"Greetings, friends." She murmured, knocking on the side of the television lightly.

'Goodness… why do I find it ridiculously cute?' He wondered inwardly.

If he had seen it done by others, Lewis was certain it would weird him out. But she was just too endearing in his eyes.

He couldn't find any reason to feel such negativity watching her. Honestly, Devon could entertain him more than the unrealistic dramas she was watching.

Lewis dragged his feet towards the couch; while Devon stood beside the television, whispering something.

'What is she whispering about?' He wondered, furrowing his brows.

Whatever secret she was whispering to the television… he wanted to know, too. What was so good telling an object a secret when there's a living person present?

'Not that I'm not capable of keeping secrets.' He clicked his tongue in annoyance.

When she was done with her ritual, Devon skipped her steps towards the other end of the couch. She held on to the remote control as if her life depended on it.

As she plopped down, Devon immediately searched for her friends, browsing through different channels. Alas, she couldn't find them.

"My friend." Devon turned to Lewis. Distress and worry were written all over her face.

The latter flinched, startled at the abrupt attention. He nearly dropped his phone for it.

"You said my friends are safe." She said under her breath. "I can't find them."

"Your friends…? Ahh…"

"I left a message to them just now. Didn't you say you can talk to them in real time?" There was no trace of emotion on her face as she confronted him.

"…"

Devon just gazed at him in silence. She didn't want to doubt him, but she wanted to share her happiness with her friends.

For her, being in an entirely different world was the greatest news she had heard in her entire life. The anxiety that the Romanov Empire might get the wind of this interesting country always lingered at the back of her head.

But now, that anxiety just vanished. No one in that empire could touch or find her anymore.

"I said you can call and talk to anyone on this phone." Lewis raised his phone, waving it in front of her.

"But, why?"

"What do you mean, why?" His nose scrunched up.

Talking to her required long patience and understanding. Lewis was still bewildered that he hadn't snapped completely.

"Although they differed in size, they look similar, don't they? Is smart foam smarter just like its moniker?" She asked, pointing at the television and the phone alternately.

"… phone." He corrected in horror.

"My apologies. Phone." Keeping her composure, Devon apologized and acknowledged her wrong. "But is it smarter?"

Lewis let out a deep sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose.

'One second, she appreciates me. She's picking a fight the next. If this is not what marriage looks like, I don't know what is.'

"Because it is more functional." Lewis answered after complaining inside his mind.

He raised the phone once again. "This? Is one of the most important tool a person can have."

Devon pursed her lips as she listened to him.

"If you're in a dangerous situation, it only takes one call away to ask for help. Want to know something? You can search the web. You can also check important emails without your laptop. It also had excellent features like camera…"

Lewis showcased his phone as if he was selling on a home shopping channel. Yet, Devon listened as he thoroughly showed her each feature that the phone had, that the television doesn't. He even explained the difference between them.

"Do you now understand the difference?" He asked after rambling on and on.

"I see…" Devon nodded in understanding, not arguing anymore.

Good thing she didn't. Because Lewis would totally lose it if she berated him.

"Right. I'll get yours." Pleased, Lewis snapped his fingers as he assisted himself up. Before he went to get her phone, Lewis lent his phone to her.

"Use mine while you're waiting for your friends."

"Thank you." She smiled, accepting it like a medal.

With that being said, Lewis marched his way towards Devon's room. He could've bought her a new one if she wanted to. But it would be good for her to keep her contacts and notes from her phone.

When he entered Devon's sacred room, Lewis paused as his gaze landed on his poster. He stared at it in silence, shifting his gaze towards the desk.

On top of the desk was Devon's laptop — it was still opened. She would usually sit there for hours — according to her. If Agnes said Devon would stare at his poster, she was surely sitting on that chair.

"Goodness…" He muttered, shaking his head as he shrugged his thoughts away. "Don't think about it."

He added before he went to search for her phone. Lewis searched each drawer carefully. When he found it, a subtle smile resurfaced on his lips.

'If I remember correctly, she doesn't lock her phone.' He muttered internally, walking back to the living area. 'I want to check what's on her phone too, though...'

Little did he know, just as he closed the door behind him. The laptop screen suddenly turned on.
