Chapter 12

Tina’s sister, Debra, started talking at a breakneck pace. “We didn’t miss it, did we? God, I hope not. I will be so mad at Mom and Dad if we got here too late.”

“We’re standing right behind you, Deb,” Tina’s father put in, the affection in his tone giving the lie to the admonishment.

“Do you have any idea how long it takes them to get ready? And then they didn’t want me to speed driving here.” Debra stepped back for a second and took in their outfits. “Ooh, Bonnie, you look amazing. And Tina…you look pretty good, too.”

Tina’s mother reached out and caught Debra by the hand. “Give the girls some space, Debbie. Also, Tina looks fine.”

“I think my hair is only half finished,” Tina confessed. “Ilana thought we had to hurry up and get here.”

“We saw her with DX on the steps outside,” Tina’s father said. “It’s quite a scene out there.”

“Are they all right?” Guilt twisted through Bonnie’s stomach at the thought of their friends.
