Chapter 16 Confusion with confession...

Ben thought Eva would be sitting on the bench on the terrace, so he rushed there to meet her.

when she saw Ben coming to her, she hid. Ben came near but couldn't find her so he left. Eva came out when she saw Ben leaving. She rushed out to go back to her room, but Ben caught her, he was hiding near the exit.

He pulled her to near and said

" Are you playing hide and seek with me now ?".

She was caught and had nothing to say. Suddenly her phone rang, it was Steve, waiting outside for her. She quietly escaped picking up the phone

" ya, Steve, just give me five minutes, and I'll be right there "

Bem heard her talking to someone, he wondered who could it be, so he followed her silently. She went straight to her room, men were not allowed there.

So he waited for some time and then left. He went to the parking lot and took his car. When he was about to leave, he saw a good-looking young man with a car standing near the gate.

Then suddenly a beautiful girl in an evening dress came running from inside, they hug each other. Ben drove his car, and saw the girl's face, it was Eva.

He kept staring and then drove away, his inner self was like crying, and he was heartbroken, his first love ended horribly before it could start.

He went to his home but was restless, his thoughts were killing him,

"who could he be ? she said she don't have a boyfriend, then who was he. They look so close".

The more he thinks the more he was restless. He needs someone to sort it out, now the only one he could think of is David. So he called him, but David was busy with his work and refused him. He called him again and said

" hey listen I need a friend right now if you don't come, you won't have a friend like me."

David understood that something was going on, so he said

" Ok fine let's go to the previous place"

But Ben was not in the mood to go out, so he asked him to come to his place. After an hour, there was a knock at the door. Ben opened the door, It was David, with two coke and something to eat.

David noticed that Ben was restless and upset, he came in and sat on the sofa. Ben didn't talk. He kept walking back and forth. David can't stand it anymore and said angrily

" Ben stop it, I am not here to see you like this, I left my work, just because you asked me to, not for just sitting here watching you"

Ben started talking

" Don't you think I am handsome, well settled, a neurosurgeon with a bright future...and a better man,...!! then why? "

David was confused

" Ben, were you dumped? "

he asked. Ben was furious to hear that,

" it didn't even start "

he said.

"Oh, so you were rejected!!" David concluded.

Ben replied

" I never got a chance to confess".

David was confused again and asked

" then what is the matter with you, Ben? what happened ?",

Ben stood up and started walking again. David was annoyed now

" so if you don't want to talk then I'll just take my leave",

He said that and was just about to leave. Ben said

" I saw her with a man today, they were very close to each other, maybe they are on their date right now ",

" just that and you made such a mess, I never thought you would be like this. Are you a high schooler? What kind of attitude is this?"

David said, as if he was not comforting him but scolding him. Ben was staring at him, but he didn't say anything.

David continued

" He could be her friend, brother, or relative... Why do you think it that way?, but I have to say, that you are not mature at all. You made a mess out of nothing and made me leave my work and come here to hear this... That's ridiculous"

Ben sat silently just like a child and kept thinking

"Why didn't strike me, why was I so emotional just now "

David saw his expression and said

" But this made me clear, that you are serious about her."

Ben was a little relaxed now and said seriously

" I don't know why ? but I was so emotional just now,... I think I am in love.. and I am serious about it ".

Ben expressed himself.

David said

" It's a good thing that you know you are in love... it's a good thing to express yourself before it is too late ... because everyone is not that lucky",

David was too immersed in his words. Ben asked

" Are you talking about that girl you mentioned last time? "

David got his senses back and said

" Well, now that you are fine, let's just eat something ".

Ben understood that he is not willing to talk about it now .. but he'll someday. They both had their dinner and David was ready to leave. Ben said

" it's already late, just stay here for now "

but David gave him a weird look and said

" stay here, with you... never!!"

and he left.

Eva went to the jewelry shop that she usually goes, to and showed them the pendant and earrings, asking if they are a set. The sales executive there said

" Ma'am I think it's a customized piece so let me take you to an expert so that you can ask him directly ".

He asked them to wait and went inside. After some time, about five minutes later, he came out and said

" Ma'am this way please".

They followed him to a room inside the showroom. It was a small room with so many images of sapphires, crystals, diamonds, etc of various colors. It looks like an expert's room.

An old man was sitting on a chair, holding a lens in his hands, and bent towards the table, watching deeply into a small container.

Eva was curious about what he is seeing and so she also bent toward it. Suddenly that old man got up and said it's a rare yellow diamond my dear I would have to pay with my life if I lost it, so please stand there.

Steve pulled her back. The old man asked

"So .. Why is this beautiful lady here?".

Eva took the pendant and the earring out and kept them on the table and asked

" Sir can you please tell me if these are a pair".

He stared at her with a smile and asked her

" Why do you think it could be a pair, you may have bought it separately "

as if he wants to see what Eva knows. Eva came near and said,

" Sir I know that every special edition has its features and I thought that it is a customized piece so I was sure there would be some similarities in them if they are a pair ".

That old man smiled again and said

" Excellent, I like intelligent people. You are right. Let me check it for you".

He took it and kept under the lights and checked it. After a while, he looked at her and said

" Oh.. sorry to disappoint you, but though, these two look like a pair but to confirm, these are not",

Now all hopes of Eva were dissolved.

She kept a sad look on her face. The old man continued

"Oh dear I just hate that look on a beautiful face like this, so I think of giving hope. "

Eva was excited again and said eagerly

" so, Did you find something? ",

he said

" yes, these may not be a pair but I can surely say these are related, because, the earring is a duplicate one of the original earrings and that means the owners of these pieces of jewelry are either one person or more likely to be related to each other, as these things need a lot of formalities to be copied. Well, this is all I could say. Hope it helps".

She was happy that there was something she could find out. They thanked the old man and left.
