Chapter 33

Rose's POV

As the drugs began to course through my veins, a wave of heaviness settled over me, pulling me deeper into the bed. My thoughts became fragmented, slipping away like sand through my fingers. I could still hear the woman's voice, distant and muffled, as if she were speaking from the other end of a long tunnel.

"Focus on getting better for now. We have a lot to discuss when you're stronger," Miley's words echoed in my mind, but the meaning behind them was quickly fading. I wanted to ask her so many questions, to understand how my powers had been sealed and what Marcus had done to me. But the more I tried to hold on to those thoughts, the further they drifted away.

The room around me seemed to blur, the edges of reality softening as my eyelids grew impossibly heavy. I could feel the sting of the needle in my arm, the last tangible sensation before everything began to fade. A deep, consuming exhaustion settled over me, dragging me down into darkness.
