Chapter 47: Meeting

Bloody hell. They are strong.

That is what I feel from them when they step inside the city. However, out of the two monsters, I am more afraid of the old man, Vasco Strada. He is the pure exorcist of the church. What does that mean? That means there is a high chance of him being a racist.

The church is known for its zero tolerance of any non-human race. If not for the fact that non-human factions are stronger than they are, they would have tried to massacre all the non-human races.

What does this have to do with Vasco Strada? When a fight breaks out, he will not hesitate to kill anyone in Vindice. According to the church, we are youkai lovers and need to be killed because we stray away from the church way.

I know that I am pessimistic here, but I would rather prepare for the worst than get a surprise attack from the enemy. He might not be that kind of person, but if he turns out like that, I am prepared for the worst.

"Please take a seat."

I say with a smile. My guardians stand behind me alongside Gamma from the Giglo Nero Famiglia while Reborn sits on my head. Gamma will be the one helping me with the political matter, and Reborn will be the one helping us in case the worst happens.

Vasco Strada and Dulio Gesualdo sit on the opposite side of me while the priests and exorcists they bring stand behind them.

With them being comfortable, I look at Dulio and Vasco and say.

"So! Let's get down to business. What does the church want from us?"

Vasco gives me a gentle smile and says,

"We come here to offer our assistance against the vampire that is plaguing the country, and we also want to build an alliance with the Millefiore Family."

"Really? Helping us against the vampire, huh? Why now?"

"I beg your pardon?"

"Let's not beat around the bush. Why now? Where are you guys when we are just a bunch of people fighting for our lives? Where are you guys when the humans of this city are nothing but cattle for the vampires? Why now?"

Before Vasco can say something, one of the priests behind him looks at me with a frown and shouts.

"What is your problem?! We come here to help you and this is your answer?! You are losing, and we offer you help! We come here to offer kindness, but you spit on our kindness!"

I flare my aura into the air, and I can feel my guardians do the same. Our Dying Will Flames, Silver Aura and RWBY Aura flare up and fill the air. I can hear the people behind the two monsters start to gasp for air while on the ground from the increasing gravity.

"Help?! Help?! What kind of delusion do you have?! We are winning! We are on the offensive! We do not need your help! Kindness?! Kindness?! What kind of kindness do you have to let members of your church be tortured for years?! What kind of kindness do you have to let humans be used as cattle?! Before we arrive here, the church does nothing, and many of the vampires use many chapels as their blood farm! A farm where humans are nothing but slaves and food for them."

I glare at the man on the ground as I put all my hatred into them.

"Lord Valerian, please. He doesn't know the situation here. They thought that you guys were losing the battle."

I take a deep breath and cancel my aura and flame. I look at Dulio, who smiles apologetically.

"They don't use the internet and don't know the current situation."

"But that doesn't give him the right to shout at me. You guys are guests in my city, and you should show respect to me."

"I shall punish them accordingly. Please let us be the ones to give the punishment."

I nod and say.

"Very well. However, this is the reason why I don't want any church personnel to build a new church here. Many of the people in Vindice believe in God, but they do not trust the church."

I look at Felicia and Martha and say.

"We have chapels in this city, but we will not have any personnel from the church taking care of those chapels."

"Are you sure? We can help take care of the chapels and build a cathedral."

"And let you set a bishop here? No. We are already too beaten up to trust the church. We suffer for years without them doing anything. We keep asking the church for help, but not once they are able to help us. They only send exorcists and priests who join the vampire or become one of the victims. So, no. We will not have any people from the Vatican to hold power in this city. We might accept your people visiting but will not accept them staying. This is the first and last warning for you."

To my surprise, Dulio and Vasco only nod their heads and do not object to my words. Vasco looks at me with a sad expression and says.

"We understand. We have done nothing to help you and your people and are ashamed of it. We only hope that you guys can forgive us and give us a chance."

I look at the old man right in the eyes and say.

"Then prove yourself. We don't need your help here, but there are many people who need your help from the other side of the country. There are still hundreds of farms that contain hundreds of thousands of human cattle. Help them and give us the proof that you are what you say. Prove yourself that you care for us."

The two of them look at me for a second before standing up. Dulio looks at me and says.

"You are right. We will go for now. We will help them. We will make sure to rescue them. When the time has come, we hope that you can open up to us. We truly only want to help."

"Then show me."

"We will."

After saying those words, they walk out of my office. I can see the others hesitate for a second but decide to follow Dulio and Vasco out. With them gone, Luca says.

"Do you think they will make a move against the vampire boss?"

"I don't know. However, I have a feeling that even without the permission of the church, those two will fight the vampire. I can see it in their eyes."
