When The Facade Breaks (Jumpchain)(Current World: Invincible)

(Any and all recognized media, or characters are not owned by me and are owned by their respective companies and owners.) What is the true value of a second chance? What would most do if they got one? Seek power? Glory? Women? Maybe I would want the same thing. Its time I found out. But first I need to survive to find out. (Expect cliches and a rather boring story, I write this for fun and it will not be a deep story. He will be OP so the stakes will be rather low. Also there will be liberties taken with the jump chain mechanics.) World's Visited List: Jumper (Movie), Chronicle (Movie), FarmVille, Megamind, Invincible,

Seeds Of Doubt

(Omni-Man POV)

The meeting room was filled with familiar faces, each Guardian of the Globe a symbol of Earth's mightiest defenders. Omni-Man stood tall, essentially floating among them, masking his disdain with a neutral expression.

"Omni-Man," The Immortal began, "we appreciate your insights on the recent security breaches. Do you have any updates?"

"None that we didn't anticipate," Omni-Man replied, his voice steady. "The White House's security is tighter than ever. Still, we must remain vigilant. We still have no idea how the brothers got close enough to that government building."

"Recent scans of their uniforms show various devices meant to block nearly every form of scanning, so they were essentially invisible to nearly every form of CCTV to even radar," Darkwing says as he brings up schematics of the Mauler Twins.

"Still, it brings me a bit of worry that these two cretins were nearly able to cripple the American government so easily." War Woman says, swinging her mace around her arms.

"Do you think it may have been an inside job, someone possibly defecting, or some anarchist trying to make a quick buck from the twins?" Red Rush asks while rapidly flipping through texts with his partner.

Darkwing shakes his head. "It's not possible. Nearly every single one of those employees was present there, and the twins aren't known for exactly playing nice with others, even themselves. Half the dialogue between the two of them is just arguing about who the original is."

" So what? This is just some random act by the twins to prop themselves up on some type of stage?" Immortal asks as he looks over at Darkwing.

"The twins aren't exactly known for their sanity. Every single time they've cloned each other, they've essentially reduced their own intellect. I doubt they would even know who the original is or what the original goal is." Darkwing's logic is sound, and as he deactivates the hologram, the rest begin to talk about their own lives until Darkwing asks me a question.

"So Omni Man, Cecil sent over some data that showed something rather interesting. It seems that your two sons have finally awakened their powers. I'm surprised you haven't told us yet." While slightly annoyed with Cecil, I kept my expression calm as I explained.

"Well, since the two are just starting out, I thought I might keep it as a surprise for when they eventually join us, but they're learning it's just a matter of time."

" This calls for celebration, Omni Man! Your sons will eventually be able to reach your level. This is something worth celebrating," War Woman says with a small smile. She has known the twins for a decent amount of their lives, and although she wants meets them, she is excited for more heroes to join the fight.

" Sadly, they're not ready to meet you all yet. Don't worry; it's only a matter of time. Besides, the two of you still have to finish high school. When they graduate, we will hold a party. I believe our meeting is adjourned." They nod as they all begin to discuss other small closing matters.

I glanced around the room, noting the subtle shifts in posture and the exchanged glances. They trusted him, but doubt lingered in my eyes, a doubt I had carefully tried to surprise. These moments of camaraderie were fleeting, distractions from his true mission.

As the meeting progressed, Omni-Man's thoughts wandered back to his sons. He had trained them to be warriors, but they were still young, still learning. His unease persisted, a gnawing sensation that something was slipping out of his control.

Once the meeting adjourned, he made his way back to his home, yet the corridors of the facility remained eerily quiet. He needed to ensure his sons were ready and understood the gravity of their heritage and the future he had planned for them.

(Carter POV)

I'll tell you what: Dad is definitely a good actor. He almost seems to fully fit into the stoic yet reliable archetype. He's definitely not a Superman, but something close enough.

[The facility's database has been downloaded. Coordinates are locked and saved to main servers. Is there anything else you require, sir]

I refuse as my tech jacket deactivates, and I fall asleep because I still need to rest after gaining these new powers.  While I don't actually need to sleep anymore, it still does feel nice, especially with my relaxation-based perks. Having an almost dreamless sleep has been the greatest boon ever.

As I closed my eyes, the world went black, and before I could even comprehend my rest, my alarm went off, and I saw that it was time for school.

Slightly groaning to myself, I began my daily rituals as I went to wake up Mark. He almost tossed his alarm through his door. I suddenly used my telekinesis to slow the force of the impact, making him think that he was just throwing his alarm normally.

After confirming that he was up, I went downstairs and saw Nolan and Debbie sitting on the couch, enjoying each other's company. I almost smiled at the scene, but then I recalled the fact that Nolan essentially used Debbie as a pet at this point in his life, and my expression immediately returned to normal.

"Flying to school, Carter?" Nolan asks as I nod, to which he nods back, not even turning away from Debbie as Mark, who has made his way downstairs, gags. Debbie, seeing Mark's expression, snorts and proceeds to kiss Nolan.

Not wanting to be involved in what's going to happen next, I told Mark I was going to be flying to school today. As I exit the house, I teleport behind the school, where there aren't any cameras; after heading into the school and grabbing all the stuff I need for class, I see someone I never expected to see so soon.

After I close my locker, I see a redheaded girl making her way down the hall. Thanks to my telekinetic senses, I could tell who this person was based on my own memories and the shape of their form.

"A wild Atom Eve has appeared." I think to myself as a small smile approaches my face.

Perfect.
