Chung-hee was the nucleus of the team of 40 scientists who built the virtual reality system and was the person who led the development of Tears of grisaea.
He had many titles: the one who had knowledge of a god, the creator of the virtual reality system, the person who changed the world, the father of virtual reality games, the richest person in the world, one of the most influential figures in the world. A person who received naturalization applications dozens of times a year around the world, the pride of South Korea, etc.
His countless titles meant that he received the spotlight every time he attended international events, and his influence transcended the American president, making him the world's envy.
In fact, his life wasn't as flashy as discussed in the media. He was the head of tears of grisaea development team, as well as head of the S.A Group, so he slept less than four hours a day on average. But was he unhappy? No, it was something he wanted for himself. Chung-hee was proud and enthusiastic about the world of grisaea, which had captured the hearts of 3 billion people.
"Umm."
Chung-hee was woken up by the sound of his phone ringing. He checked the time and saw that it was 2:50 a.m. It had only been 20 minutes since he went to sleep. The accumulated fatigue from a month's worth of late nights crushed Chung-hee's thinking ability.
His voice was rather sharp as he spoke into the phone, "What is going on? What?"
An urgent voice was heard over the phone. Chung-hee immediately woke up. "I'm going immediately! Be prepared to give me the report as soon as I arrive!"
Chung-hee got dressed and entered the elevator, heading to the underground floor of his house. In the underground parking lot, limited edition cars from expensive brands were parked in order by type. He climbed into a sports car with the butterfly style doors and drove to the company at full speed.
"What happened?"
Tears of grisaea Operations Office.
Chung-hee stumbled upon that and not without regaining his breath. Yoon Shin, the head of the operations team, bowed to Chung-hee and adjusted her horn-rimmed glasses.
"It happened five minutes ago."
The excited Chung-hee sat down. He turned his gaze to the huge monitor on the wall and the stopped video started playing. The main character of the video was the huge level 1000 Undead Kerberus Lord of the Flames. Being controlled by a youth called John Wilson.
The staff handed two documents to Chung-hee as he watched the video. Chung-hee read it and rubbed his chin.
"In reality, as in Tears of grisaea, is a normal person without outstanding features. After having been in the world of the grisaea, he suffered a lack of self-control, which resulted in the lowest level in life. How did this person find the time to look for the hidden add-on to buy the season pass?
"Another thing, why are you showing me the final boss of the expansion of the doors of the abyss? Did that person manage to reach the boss in just a few hours?" Chung-hee asked the staff member.
"Director Hee...that boss is the player and the person who bought the expansion first." Yoon responded by giving Chung-hee another document in his hand.
Chung-hee was greatly interested in the user who gave him a great surprise. But Yoon didn't think of the young man as anything special.
"It was merely a product of coincidence and obsession that he discovered the secret publicity."
The young man named John Wilson, whose player name was Amberblade, stayed in one city for three years and accumulated more than 113,000 reputations in that city. His attributes were also quite high in his main character called AmberBlade which boasted 49,891 hours of play in total, but the most surprising thing was that his equipment was only rare and not legendary or at least epic.
"Heavens, how addicted can this person be?" Yoon was totally stunned to see so many hours put into a game and a single character.
"It also seems that the young man holds a terrible bad luck for the discovery of powerful items.
Another member of the group spoke his opinion behind the director Hee and Yoon.
"As far as I can see this person is very stubborn, despite not having legendary items that did not prevent him from staying in the game."
More than 5 years in the game only using rare items was already in itself something impossible to endure in the world of grisaea as monsters, events, PVP tournaments and other types of activities in the game required that the player had excessive power of combat to be able to pass the tests either alone or accompanied.
"However, the young man proved that coincidences overlapping several times could create a positive cloud. It also reminded him how valuable patience and effort was."
Chung-hee recalled the early years in which Tears of grisaea competed against other virtual reality games which were even more sophisticated and with more powerful engines which allowed much more content. Chung-hee never gave up despite it and developed something that other virtual reality games did not possess, total freedom and a sense of reality.
Tears of grisaea boasted a totally free system for everyone, the limit to that freedom was the imagination of a person and obviously crimes like in real life here happened, but they were paid excessively.
Chung-hee created a virtual reality system that caused pain to the person who was playing Tears of Grisaea since their goal was "to make them see another reality" and receive blows from monsters or other players would make them feel pain, as if they were being attacked In the real world.
Yoon asked a question to Chung-hee, who was watching the young man on the monitor with sparkling eyes.
"What will happen now, Director Hee?"
Chung-hee turned his eyes to those of Yoon and remained silent being confused by such a question.
....
....
....
"Oh, you mean about being a monster boss? Do not worry I think I have an idea of how to motivate him to leave the area where he is and also how to benefit Tears of Grisaea with that young man's presence."
Chung-Hee enjoyed the fragrance of the coffee that a staff member passed him and continued,
"I could take advantage of his new character to create a new event in which all players of high ranks could get to collaborate to try to kill him." Chung-hee took a small sip of his coffee and stopped halfway and began to speak explaining another idea.
"I could give you a unique mission in which he should kill all the top players in the game to tempt them to look for better equipment and when the new expansion comes out we could add many more new weapons and armor." Chung-hee was totally full of ideas trying to make use of the person who had become a boss monster.
"Although I still wonder, how that person became a monster, that was not expected in the game or in the expansion." Chung-Hee observed all the members of the group of scientists working without leaving a second of their computers.
Yoon summarized it succinctly.
"Would you give that person a use to promote the game, director Hee?" Yoon began to think that the director would use the player to create a new promotion and a new event in which to gain more profits and even more fame.
"There are a lot of problems at the moment, and we can not keep that person in that area all day...right?" Chung-hee watched as AmberBlade shook from one side to the other trying to break the chains that imprisoned him to that place.
"Why do not we give you an incentive to leave that place and a reason to start with the event I have in mind?" Chung-Hee asked for a keyboard and began to write quickly command after command, making strange portals appear all over the Grisaea world where players of any level would be admitted but up to a maximum of 1000 users would be able to attend the big event.
[The start of the nightmare event has begun]
Mission: Defeat the Undead Kerberus or die trying.
Rewards upon completing the mission: 10,000,000 Gold 5 legendary pieces of equipment(At players choice), box of reinforcement materials x20, heart of the great white dragon x50, Rahkasa's teeth x25.
[If the mission fails the 1000 players present will lose 10 levels and the event "The Nightmare Walker" will begin.]
Chung-hee lowered the keyboard for a moment and took a sip of his coffee with his eyes closed enjoying his taste.
....
....
....
"Start of the nightmare huh?" Chung-hee smiled and took the keyboard again and this time wrote the mission addressed to AmberBlade or rather Kerberus.
....
....
....
[Chamber of the final boss, Entrance to the abyss]
"These damn things are not taken away !!!" John was still moving from one side to another trying to break the chains or at least the supports where they were going but it was totally in vain, each agitated exhausted more his body as if it became more and more heavy with each movement.
John continued trying and trying until a message in front of him appeared giving him a mission.
[The start of the nightmare event has begun]
Mission: Freed yourself and Defeat the 1000 warriors that come to defy the abyss or die trying.
Rewards upon completing the mission: 100,000,000 Gold 5 legendary pieces of equipment (Random), box of reinforcement materials x20, heart of the great white dragon x75, Rahkasa's teeth x50.
[If the mission fails the player using Kerberus will permanently lose the character and the event "The Nightmare Walker" will end.]
John observed the message with the mission that had been delivered to him and the first thing he thought was in the amount of rewards and as money in real life he would be able to obtain thanks to that mission.
His smile, on the other hand, did not last long. He immediately became a face of terror knowing that not one or two if not a thousand players were going to where he was chained to kill him!
His forces suddenly came back waving from one side to the other trying absolutely everything to break the chains or the bases although he did not know that the 1000 players including players from high ranks at the top of the game were also present beginning to enter the portals.
....
....
....
[Plains of Argim, City of Tarthem]
Large groups of players began to find a portal in each major capital of the Grisaea world while they had also received notification of the mission]
"A new event! And with excellent rewards!" A young player named RoyRoyHammster shouted cheerfully with her 4 teammates in her guild chat.
RoyRoy belonged to the top players of Tears of Grisaea and his best-known role was of Assassin, his quick and accurate attacks and his movements very lucid made it number 15 in the top of players.
"Let's all go for the rewards!" she wrote in her guild chat with large and colorful letters totally spreading the chat but many of the members of the guild were high level, so they did not dare to face something they did not know and did not want to lose 10 levels if they died so only 40 of RoyRoy's Guild went to The Gates of the Abyss.
For a Grisaea player to be level 1000, losing 10 levels for failing a mission was a terrible blow since moving from level 989 to level 990 cost some 19.3 billion experience and many people did not have enough time or patience to regain those levels lost.
[Desert of Sakarath, Great city of The 4 breezes, Outskirts of the big city.]
"A new event...that's unexpected." A group of hooded people hiding in the sand learned of the new mission and rewards that were available.
"If we go now, possibly we can also kill top players!" Another of the people present in the desert spoke a strange idea, as if he were some kind of psychopath.
"Silence, our time will come, in terms of the mission and the event we will go immediately as the mission says the portals are opened throughout the world which will take us to the mission site." The person covered with the hood put on the clothes and disappeared in the desert wind.
Hundreds of players from different guilds, lonely players, casual groups and top rankers in the world of Grisaea joined the main group of expedition and extermination.
[1000 users have joined the anteroom of the final boss of the doors of the abyss is recommended extreme caution]
The 1000 users received the message and began to feel nervous for obvious reasons, usually such a big raid was only done against the great white dragon from which many could observe the statistics on the internet and see their strengths and weaknesses, but this time the users They were totally walking blindly as they did not know anything about the enemy that was waiting for them.
The 1000 available users began to observe how the doors of the room of the final boss opened slowly dropping dust, debris and a strange and strong breeze that emerged from the interior causing the most cowardly to be frightened initially.
....
....
"We will enter?" A voice was heard in total silence and many players unbarred their weapons and began to walk to the boss's room.
"I think it would be better for everyone to prepare their support spells and use them in the vanguards and tanks, we will not survive if we go unprepared" A player called LeafOnTheWind explained to all the players, but the tops rankers and veteran players had already been reinforced. Beforehand with personal items and spells while novice players began to copy what they had done.
"1000 players, 35 top rankers, 200 veterans, 380 guilds and the rest all rookies...pffffttt we will not get very far." A user began to speak with an irritating and presumed voice explaining the experience and capacity of the users present in that huge room.
Many players felt much dislike of such attitude, but they not dared to speak since the player who spoke was called LucasLightning, and he belonged to the top rankers, more specifically his position was number 11.
"Fight between you when we finish here! I want the rewards!" A loud voice was heard and all the tension that was in that room dissipated almost instantaneously.
"LucasLightning, I think you should remain silent and cooperate in order to get the rewards of the mission." WagnerBullet another Tank-style top ranker spoke trying to undo the bad attitude of all the people present at that moment to managed to make everyone cooperate as a team and thus complete their objectives.
"Hey, Shi-san and his group have already entered the boss room, I think it would be better to enter and end this once and for all" one level 200 rookie player spoke pointing his sword towards the entrance where another group of people had already joined.
The atmosphere inside the room of the boss was extremely calm and silent, the silence was such that it could drive someone crazy at any time also inside the room there was a strange fog, in the fog you could see some lights all hung in 5 boats that were capable of carrying at least 200 people each.
Step after step, person after person they crossed the mysterious fog arriving at the boats.
Observing everything around him, each user could begin to feel tension coming from the other side of the mist that was in the water.
"There's something on the other side ... I can really feel like something bad is going to happen." some users commented while others investigated the boats closely to see if there was any trap in them.
"Uugghh, what is this !?" some users found a strange, transparent liquid on the floor as if it were saliva.
"How disgusting, better move, get on all the boats I'm afraid that the end of the road is very close, closer than we think." WagnerBullet said loudly on top of one of the boats.
The 1000 users climbed to the 5 boats and these began to move only heading towards the fog causing the atmosphere to slowly change becoming heavier and heavier with every second that passed.
"Get ready! Everything is about to get hectic, we'll meet on the other side!" WagnerBullet said for the last time in a loud voice to all present.
One boat after another entered the fog, sailing blindly for a certain amount of time until they came out of the mist.
"Ahhhh!" Many screams could be heard crossing the other side of the fog, while the 1000 users could see an incredibly huge creature even more than the great white dragon which was struggling with huge chains causing the whole place to shake so violent with every movement that immense monster made with his body.
Many players were paralyzed as soon as they observed the huge three-headed creature moving trying to break the chains to free itself so the players' time to kill him was extremely limited since the bases of the chains were beginning to crack.
"We must attack him now, the bases of the chains are resisting, if they break, the real problems will start!" RoyRoy shouted at all those present making them come to their senses, mentioning that the chains would stop resisting and would break at any moment.
When shouting This Roy Roy and the other players turned around being paralyzed with fear again, watching as the creature stared at them, smiling with their three heads.
[The mission has begun no player can escape until the boss is killed or all players die and are sent to the nearest shrines to be revived.]
I regret that this chapter is ... so incomplete in some way since I am not very good at explaining the situation and atmospheres besides the personalities of the characters
(This is my first novel and I will try to write in the best possible way and I suppose I will improve with time, I apologize)
