Bullies

"I shouldn't have asked , sorry. What kind of- " I tried to politely change the subject but was interrupted. "No. " she got up holding her drink " I think i should tell you"

"Don't get too close to me , i'll just bring you bad luck " She turned around and walked away as she left me speechless .

"Bad luck?" I whispered to myself . What does she mean ?

Two days have passed and there was no sight of Everly . She wasn't even attending the classes. I was walking back home lost in my thoughts until i saw a small figure walking quickly across the streets. "Everly! Over here!" I called her but in vain she kept on walking . Is she headed somewhere?

I then realized that three people were following her . As soon as the lights turned red, I ran over to the other side and followed them secretly . They walked for a good 4 minutes, I assumed, before it was already a dead end and Everly was trapped . "Leave me alone, please" She cried as her body was shaking from fear . "I gave you my money what else do you want ?"

Thieves?

There were two guys and a girl . The girl laughed before she took a few steps closer to Everly ."We want you peace of trash to disappear " She said as the two guys laughed. "Our university have become so dirty and unlucky the day you came "One of them said as he pulled her hair .

I couldn't take it any more as i walked over . "Stop it" The three faces turned to me in annoyance. "Who dares interrupt us " One of the guys groan as his hands turned into a fist. "Leave and don't meddle with our business"

"I said stop it . You better stop since i'm being nice" I smirked as they got though my nerves. Without any notice the guy on the left ran over and tried to punch me . I was fast enough to punch him back as he laid on the floor groaning in pain . " I was not kidding when I said to stop " I looked over the other two that were standing in shock . "Who's next ? " I smiled at them as their eyes were wide open . " Last warning , if you dare mess with Everly once more , the ground isn't the only thing you'll fall on. "

They trembled and bowed holding their friend and running quickly soon disappearing from the sight.

I looked at Everly as she was sitting on the floor tears forming in her eyes. She was shaking from fear as she held herself tightly .

EVERLY POV

After they left, my legs went weak and i fell on the floor .My leg started bleeding but i still couldn't believe what happened. They wanted to kill me .

Maybe i'm better dead. That way i won't be a burden to anyone .

Slowly i felt a pair of arms engulfing me .It was Mark. He slowly rubbed over my back and whispered quietly , telling me it was going to be okay .

"Cry it all out , I'm here . I'll protect you" I felt safe for the first time in a while .I clutched unto his shirt as tears raced down my face , rolling over his white shirt.Never would I imagine that i would be crying in-front of anyone , nonetheless in the arms of a guy . However, at this moment i could think of nothing except the hatred i have for being alive that poured in the gut-wrenching sobs that tore through my chest . I could hardly breathe as my throat tightened .

"Hey"Mark softly called "Let's go home" and without waiting for an answer he held my face with both of his palms . Our faces were now just inches apart as he smiled widely. He softly passed his thumbs over my tears erasing them as he flashed another comforting smile .

With that we went back home walking side to side in the busy city streets. As we arrived to the building he insisted on coming over to help me take care of my wounded leg and make sure i'll eat dinner and sleep.I didn't have enough energy to argue back so i agreed .

"Sit down " He softly demanded as he held some ointments. He gently applied them over my leg before tapping a few times and smiling " done" "Thank you Mark . for everything"

"About what you said two days ago" He started hesitantly " I don't care" He got up as he stood right in-front of my figure. " Whatever is the bad luck you're talking about . I don't care." he looked deeply in my eyes "I want to get closer to you. I want to know about you more. Luck and people are on the end of my list. " He stopped for a second before he added" What i care about is you" six words that made me feel the inside of my stomach being tickled.

"Let's be friends" He flashed his perfect smile again as he forwarded his hand waiting for me to shake it back.

Without thinking and as if my hand moved by itself , i shook his hand . What did i get myself into.
