Headache

It took more than two weeks to break Six. Jared checked in with Spider every day to see how things were going and it was clear that he was fighting valiantly against the brainwashing every step of the way. 

Numbers may be super soldiers but they weren't invincible. At their core they were human and even the strongest human couldn't withstand everything. Eventually all of the pain and mental manipulation got to him. Spider was excellent at her craft and hadn't failed yet. 

"Watch," she said proudly during one of Jared's routine check ins. 

Six was no longer restrained and stood in the corner of Spider's office completely still with the blank look the Numbers usually had right after a code phrase reset. That was promising. 

"Name," Spider commanded. 

"Six."

"Age?"

"Twenty-two."

"Affiliation?"

"The Numbers program of the Agency."

"Who is Claire Conway?"

"A target to be eliminated."
