Chapter 10: A formidable team

Tang Hao stood quietly in the shadowed corridor of the governor's mansion, his ears straining to catch every word of the heated conversation echoing from the study. Inside, his cousin Tin Hao and uncle Wei Hao were in a fervent discussion about a young man named Mou Lin.

"Mou Lin's power is growing," Wei Hao said, his voice tinged with both admiration and concern. "He's no longer the simple villager's son we thought him to be. His strategic mind is unparalleled, and his combat skills are formidable."

Tin Hao scoffed. "He's just lucky. No way he could best me if we were to face off again."

Tang Hao rolled his eyes. Tin Hao's arrogance was something he could never stand. His cousin had always been full of himself, never respecting others, especially those he considered beneath him.

"Don't underestimate him, Tin Hao," Wei Hao warned. "His rise has been meteoric. He could be a valuable ally or a formidable enemy."

Tang Hao's interest piqued. He had heard whispers of Mou Lin's abilities, but hearing it confirmed from his uncle made him curious. Mou Lin studied Tang Hao for a moment before nodding. "Very well, Tang Hao. I have no quarrel with you. If you are willing to learn, I am willing to teach."

From that day on, Tang Hao spent every spare moment training with Mou Lin. Under Mou Lin's guidance, he learned the art of strategy, understanding not just the movements on the battlefield but the minds of his opponents.
