Release That Witch

In the streets of the border town, King of Neverwinter can be seen walking towards the ship dock. He agreed to meet with Nightingale there and together, they'll both go to the castle to rendezvous with Iron Axe, Drow Silvermoon and Quest Society Agatha.

He arrived at the dock but can't see Nightingale yet. She could be hiding to surprise him based on what he knew of her personality.

While he was leaning against a wall to wait for Nightingale, he suddenly felt a poke at his side. He turned to look behind him and saw that Nightingale suddenly appeared from the corner.

She still had her long curly blond hair down and was wearing her usual white dress with a hood. She really looked good wearing the outfit he suggested. It's a good thing this was not affecting her role as an assassin.

"Hey, sorry I wasn't active these past few days. How were you guys?" typed Cheng Yan.

"Well, we have to make do with a random player. It's great now that you're here. But If you're still not used to playing again, I can work double for the team."

"Yes, I'm here now.", Cheng Yan bragged. "Let's go meet up with the others."

As they started walking, Nightingale asked, "How was your office?"

"Hmm.. Still boring. Let's not talk about it."

"Oh, okay..."

"How about you? Didn't you say you just started being an intern?"

"It was fine. There was a kind guy there that I really like." Nightingale said while turning her head to look at him.

Cheng Yan was about to ask what she meant with that look when they saw their other party members walking towards them.

The party decided to finish the final dungeon in Misty Forrest today before the weekly refresh since they didn't know when Cheng Yan will be available again.

Their current party was the best in the guild with Iron Axe, a berserker for close range; King of Neverwinter, a gunner and Quest Society Agatha, an elementalist for long range; Nightingale, an assassin for mid range; and Drow Silvermoon, a songstress for a healer.

The background of this Misty Forest dungeon was that there was a Forest Guardian spawning demons to attack the border town. The party's goal this time was to finish the dungeon in the fastest time possible as they were already in the leaderboard for the highest points earned for this dungeon. This means they have to control the charging demons not to focus their attack on the town as well as kill the Forest Guardian.

When they finished their preparations on their equipment and potions, they started walking to the city wall to exit the border town and enter the Misty Forest. With Iron Axe in front and Quest Society Agatha leading, they finished the dungeon in 51 minutes and 39 seconds. They weren't able to get the top spot in the leaderboard but they will still be in the top 10 by the end of the week which will get them some good rewards.

Cheng Yan sighed. 'I really should limit my gaming time. I already have to work overtime in front of a computer and still in front of a computer when I got home.' he thought while stretching his neck and arms.

It was already 10pm but Cheng Yan was still wide awake. The four hour sleep he had after his shower was enough to compensate for his tiredness these last few days. He just have to rest later so he can have energy to work properly tomorrow.

Cheng Yan thought of his dream again. It really felt real for him especially the love he experienced and of course, his death. He can't decide if he wants to go back since they lost the latest war but he really missed everything in that world even if it's not yet one day he's experiencing his 'previous' life again.

His daydreaming was broken when he heard a 'Meow' from his window. The light in his room was only coming from his laptop and the street lights outside. He noticed a white cat in his windowsill and it jumped down to the floor.

It was Leaf, the landlady's Persian cat. Probably because his window was the only one kept open this night, the cat decided to enter the building here.

"Ms. Leaf, you're out late tonight. Wouldn't Sister Wendy think you ran away from her?" Roland smiled at himself talking to a cat but continued, "You really love to be in the park, huh? With all those plants and trees."

The cat ignored him and walked to his front door. It scratched the wood and looked at him indicating that it wants him to open the door. Cheng Yan stood up and decided to accompany it to the landlady's apartment.

Cheng Yan knocked on the door and it was opened from inside by the red-headed woman. Leaf rubbed it's body against her master's leg and Wendy crouched down to pick it up.

Looking up, she smiled at him. "Cheng Yan, you're here to bring home my Leaf again. But you shouldn't keep your windows open at night. It's getting colder now."

"But Sister Wendy, how will Leaf enter the building?"

"Hmmph! Maybe this will keep her inside the house longer. I even had a small garden made for her."

Cheng Yan laughed, "You know she's like one with nature. The little plot you have is not enough.", he teased.

"No, you're also spoiling her. It should be Scroll that's always outside like Maggie's Lightning."

"I think it's best that you have someone guarding the building."

"Speaking of that, did you know my Scroll actually barked at Cara when she visited last time?"

Chang Yan frowned.

"She was looking for you and I said you were still at work."

"Thanks for informing me. But she already called me this morning." replied Cheng Yan. "Oh, and please thank Scroll for me." They both laughed.

"Anyway, close your window before you sleep. It's really getting cold now.", Wendy reminded Cheng Yan before he left.

Once he got back to his room, Cheng Yan lied on his bed and stared at the ceiling. He thought of what's his plan for his futute. Will he spend his life focused on work and helping kids and pets? Or is it possible to get the glory he had in that dream? Maybe he could try to change?

After thinking for some time, he eventually fell asleep.

Ta-da!!!

Well, thanks for reading!
