Planning in Secret

Even though he knew his father was either being controlled or his memories had been changed, J'Zaki knew he could do nothing about it. So he let the matter with his father slide for the moment. Instead, they went to his sister's lab.

When Ororo and J'Zaki walked into the lab, they saw an unfamiliar mess within it. This was completely unlike Shuri who had always kept the place spotless. If there was a mess here, then it meant the place had been ransacked or Shuri was sick. Turned out to be the latter.

The duo walked in on Shuri sniffling while working on some contraption. From the looks of it, it had something to do with nanobots because the material kept forming and disappearing.

"Shuri!" Ororo rushed over and put her palm on the other girl's head. She could feel the intense heat coming off of it. "Put her on the bed."

J'Zaki rushed over and picked up his sister. The younger twin tried to resist but since she barely worked out more than necessary, her puny strength could not affect him. "Wait! Brother!" But J'Zaki was not hearing it. He carried Shuri over to her bed and wrapped the sheets over her body so tightly that she couldn't escape.

Shuri glared at her brother and Ororo in frustration.

"Release me, you savages! I hope you burn alive for this!"

J'Zaki just sighed at his sister's antics. This definitely confirmed that she was sick. She was the type of person that worked through their illness until they magically were cured or it became so much worse that they had to be hospitalized. And when someone stopped her from working through her illness, she would unleash all the rage she could muster at them.

But after dealing with actual killers, her anger looked like nothing more than a kitten pouting in his eyes.

"Just sit lay there and rest up. We need you at your best for what is coming up soon," J'Zaki flicked his sister's forehead.

His words immediately calmed her down and drew her attention. It was rare for her brothers to ask anything of her. Both of them were prideful and refused to get help unless absolutely necessary.

"What's going on?"

J'Zaki activated his eyes and looked around. He couldn't see anyone spying on them nor could he see any stray energy in the area that looked similar to the professor.

"Father is being controlled. Either directly or his memories are being manipulated but right now, we have someone dangerous who has set their eyes on me and Ororo, and I'm not sure what their bottom line is. They can control the minds of others from thousands of miles away."

Shuri gasped when she heard that their father was being controlled. He seemed so normal that it didn't even cross her mind that it was a possibility.

"Then what's going to happen? How can we free him?"

"Sister, calm yourself. J'Zaki is able to free father-in-law," Ororo tried to calm Shuri

"Then why haven't you?"

"Because we don't know how dangerous it is to do so. If we free father, who is to say that the other man won't find out and release every secret our father knows? Or that he has other sleeper agents ready in case they discover Father is free. We need to handle this all cleanly."

Shuri calmed down listening to their explanation. This made sense. If they moved too quickly without finding out all the answers or possible dangers, they were dooming themselves.

"Then what is the plan?"

"The three of us shall be the only ones who know about this. At least until the matter is handled. We need you to develop the technology to block out his powers. The two of us will handle it from there," Ororo and J'Zaki had discussed the plan on the way down to the lab. Although they wanted to plan things out a bit more before they made their move on Xavier, he showed them that he wasn't giving them much time.

"Shuri. You have a week to develop the tech. I will describe the energy as best I can while you recover but we need to move as fast as we can."

Shuri nodded in understanding. She also knew that delaying too long would result in more danger or acting too rashly would result in mistakes.

So for the next two days, Shuri stayed in bed and ate all the food and medicine that Ororo and J'Zaki gave her. Several servants offered to help but the duo declined. J'Zaki had seen that quite of a few of them had the same energy as his father which meant that they could not be trusted.

Over the 5 days, Shuri stayed in her lab building psionic inhibitors. The duo tried to help but they were not as smart as Shuri when it came to technology so they only got in the way. Instead, they spent their time focusing on their powers.

Ororo began to focus more on her electrokinesis. Even though it was not as powerful as her ability to control the weather, it was much faster to use and easier to control.

J'Zaki focused on something else. Shuri had discovered that both of his eyes had high levels of the same psionic energy they were trying to block out. Which meant that he also had the potential to do similar things as the professor. So the prince spent his time practicing on small animals that Shuri kept in her lab for experiments.

The final product turned out to be a set of black beads with different engravings on each of them.

"What is this?" Ororo asked while holding one of the bracelets in her hands.

"Something I have been working on for a while. These are Kimoyo Beads. They can do so many things at once. They act as cell phones, record images, can grant me access to remote control technology from a distance, and more. But those were all the original features I was planning to release them with.

They also carry the secret feature of protection from psionic energy and disrupting psionic energy. The former has a limit on how much energy it can protect the user from but it will also alert me and the command center. Which would allow us to use the second function and disrupt the energy currently inside of them."

Ororo nodded while admiring the design. "These are excellent, little sister. They should prove useful not just in the upcoming battle but in the future of Wakanda as well."

"Thank you, Sister," Shuri smiled at Ororo before turning to J'Zaki. "Brother. I have also used the information you gave me to add additional features to the barrier. Once we upload the updated software, it will also be able to block out psionic energy."

"Perfect. Now to phase two."
