What Just Happened?

(Nerina's P.O.V)

"What in the fuck was that?" Ashe voices out in confusion, mirroring my own.

"Ol' boy was saying he was over 200 years old saying he knew Charlotte, that's not even possible!" Kita states.

"I know! Why would he say such things though? He knew her last name, who would know her last name other than family or someone who knew her?" I question.

"I understand that, Ne, but you cannot seriously believe that William dude is over 200 years old. There's just no way!" Lizzie rebuts.

John opens the door, and it's only then that I realize that we are back at the villa already. I had been so lost in my thoughts and conversation with the girls that I wasn't even paying attention. We all get out, however; John grasps my arm and asks me to stay behind for a minute. I nod to the girls to head back into the house while I stayed behind with John.

"What happened back there at the tavern? I wasn't expecting to be leaving so quickly."

"This guy came out of the bushes along with three others and claimed to be some guy named William Teach and saying that he was born in 1801 and that Charlotte was his lover/pregnant with his child!" I seriously sounded hysterical.

"There are things that you won't understand but I know William Teach. He was my best friend growing up and he was my Captain on the Bloody Hangman. I'm John Drummond, and I'm 215 years old. I was born and raised in England with William and those men who were with him this evening. We came here in search of Greybeard's treasure as we are all cursed with the gift of time." John says slowly, gauging my reaction.

"Jesus, you are just as crazy as him! That's not possible John. Please just stop and leave. Please." I scream out, running away from him back into the house.

I slam the door and all the girls look at me quizzically, wondering what could have possibly upset me.

"What happened?" Corie askes quietly.

"John is just as crazy as that William dude!" I say as I went on to explain the conversation that I just had with John.

Crickets. All you can hear are the crickets chirping because no one knows what to say. At this point, I just want to get really drunk and forget that this even happened.

"Well, I don't know about you bitches, but I'm going to start drinking a shit ton of alcohol." I say as I walk to the kitchen where the liquor cabinet is.

I'm joined shortly by the rest of the ladies, filling our glasses to the brim with all sorts of alcohol just to forget what had happened.

"We'll go back to the tavern tomorrow and, hopefully those guys won't be there. We need to do this for your mom," Nikita states.

"Yeah, I know, we'll go there in the morning since our scavenger hunt isn't until the afternoon, right?" I asked.

"Yeah, tomorrow afternoon and it starts there at the tavern actually, so we'll have to be quick with the visit so the people can start setting up for the hunt." Lizzie states.

All I do is nod my head, I seriously can't even wrap my head around what has happened today, and hopefully this alcohol will do its job and make me forget what just happened. We all decided that we were going to take this to the pool, so we all staggered our way up the stairs to change into our bathing suits. We spend hours splashing around and having a grand time. I completely forget about what occurred this afternoon. The sun was beginning to set when we all jumped out of the pool. Anne was too drunk to cook dinner without the possibility of torching the villa, so we ordered food to be delivered. We changed into our pajamas and set up pillows and blankets all over the floor so we can eat in comfort while we watch a documentary on Netflix about the Night Stalker. We all eventually fell asleep where we dropped after gorging ourselves on food and alcohol.

The next morning, we were all dragging ass, completely hungover and LOOKED like we had been up all-night drinking. I closed the blinds; our sensitive eyes just couldn't handle the sun right now.

"I'm never drinking again." I hear Lizzie mumble from the floor near the television.

"Amen sister." Ashe agrees from somewhere near the sofa.

"Blinds are closed ladies, wake up." I croak out, my throat dry and scratchy from dehydration.

All I get in response are groans and grumbles, as I walk to the kitchen to start coffee and get myself a big glass of water. The doorbell sounds and there is another round of groans and mumbled curses at whoever rang the doorbell. I walk from the kitchen to the front door to see John and that creepy dude from yesterday along with his friends there. Ugh, I'm too hungover for this.

"What the hell do you want? I'm too hungover to deal with your crazy ass stories right now." I snarl out, the sun hurting my eyes.

"We just want a chance to talk, that's all Nerina." John says calmly.

"Please, just give us a chance to explain." Crazy dude says.

I take a moment to think this through, knowing that I have my service weapon upstairs and I'm basically a trained sniper—that's how good of a shot I am—I have no qualms in my ability to put down a threat.

"Fine but let me get my gun. I don't trust any of you." I bite out.

The ladies are still lounging on the floor.

"Guys, get up, we have guests of the male species here." I say, turning to walk upstairs.

"For fuck's sake Ne, why!? I'm not even cute yet!" Kita screeches at me.

"KITA! CAN WE NOT YELL!!??" Corie yells.

"Can you twats please just shut your traps for five seconds!?" Ashe barks out.

Opening my bedroom door, I quickly put on some clothes and splash some water on my face to wake myself up. I grabbed my pistol out of the nightstand and made my way back downstairs where there is nothing but silence. Making my way into the living room, I see the girls sitting on the sofa while John and his crazy friends are standing in front of the fireplace.

"Alright, chicos blancos locos, you have twenty minutes to tell us your story and then you're out of here." Kailani states.

"I don't even know what she just called us." William's doppelganger whispers to John.

"She called you crazy white boys, because that is what you are, so get on with it." I huff out.

Here comes the crazy train.
