Decisions--Split Chapter

(John's P.O.V)

This couldn't be real; I had the chance to choose what I had been wanting; to go back to my old life that I had been dreaming about since our time travel. Though now, I'm beginning to second guess that desire. Nerina, is making me second guess that desire. Will I be able to make her happy for the rest of her life? Or will this be a fling that ends after she goes back to wherever she lives? We know nothing about each other but all I can say is that I am drawn to her in a way that I have never experienced in my 215 years on this Earth.

"Nerina, I do have something I need to tell you. You, as well, William, it's about Charlotte." Selene states, pulling me from my thoughts.

"What about my Charlotte?" William whispers, looking desperately at Selene.

"She was a hybrid of my people. She was part human, part sea nymph; her parents were fated mates."

"So, does that make me a hybrid as well? Since I'm her descendant?" Nerina questions, almost excitedly.

"Eh, kind of?" Selene answers, unsure.

"What do you mean kind of? It's KIND OF a yes or no question, isn't it?" Nerina huffs in annoyance.

"Well, the sea nymph part got diluted through every generation, considering that everyone in her family married humans. So, while the family line was once more hybrid than human, you are all basically human now with little sea nymph DNA."

"So why are you telling us this?" William questions.

"Because William, Charlotte is alive." She says simply, as if this wasn't the biggest news ever.

"Wha…Wha…What? How is that possible? She was murdered. That's what Nerina and her mother found out." William utters, in disbelief.

"No, she wasn't murdered. She was attacked, yes, but she was saved by a woman named Calida. She is of the Fae kingdom in my realm and, like Beatrix, a healer. She healed Charlotte and brought her back to our realm, where she has been since the day she was attacked." Selene stated.

We all look at each other in shock, no one can really believe what Selene is saying.

"William?" A shy feminine voice asks.

William froze, his eyes wide. He knew that voice.

(William's P.O.V)

That voice, the voice that haunted my dreams for a lifetime, the voice I could never forget.

"Charlotte." I whisper, turning around and seeing my Charlotte standing before me.

Her raven hair as beautiful as it had been the day, I met her and the hazel eyes that I would lose myself in every chance I could when we were together. Her golden skin glowing and beautiful, her full lips just as I remembered them.

"Oh, William. I thought you were dead." She sobs out, running to me and throwing her arms around my neck, causing me to wince from my injury.

Nerina pokes me in the ribs to get me to acknowledge the fact that the woman I have yearned for is finally back in my arms and hugging me. I wrap my arms around her waist and lean my head down so my face is in her neck. Inhaling her sweet perfume like a drug, oh how I have missed the smell of her.

"Oh Charlotte, how I've missed you." I whisper in her ear.

"And I've missed you, William, so much." She whispers back, her voice thick with emotion.

I pull away from her, cupping her face in my hands as I stare at her beautiful face with tears streaming down her cheeks. I wipe the tears away with my thumbs, then kiss each cheek before finally crashing my lips to hers. It's like fireworks have been set off, tingles erupt along my skin where she runs her hands along my forearms. A throat clears from somewhere around us.

"So, William, Charlotte has something to tell you," Selene says, nodding to the woman in my arms.

"Yes. William, I know Selene told you of my heritage as a hybrid, but what she didn't tell you is that you are my mate. My forever. The other half of my soul. Please, come back to the Lunar Realm with me?" She pleads, holding my hands in hers.

Do I want to? Do I want to leave everything I've ever known, again, to be with Charlotte? The woman I have longed for and missed?

"Yes. A thousand times yes." I whisper to her.

Suddenly, screams pierce the air as the wild banshee's that are our granddaughter, and her friends rise to the air and completely ruin our moment.

"Oh. My. Goddess! This is so beautiful!" Nerina squeals out, making my ears bleed.

"This is like, the most romantic love story ever. Better than Romeo & Juliet or even Deadpool." Nikita sniffles out.

"Darling, there is someone that you need to meet. Someone who helped me break the curse placed upon our families." I murmur in her ear.

I turn to the girls and wave Nerina over to us. Charlotte gasps in shock, her eyes wide and brimming with tears.

"Lottie? Is that you?" She whimpers out.

"Um, I'm sorry Charlotte, but I'm not Lottie. My name is Nerina and I'm your five-times great granddaughter. My mother, Charlotte, is a descendant of Lottie, though she's my four-times great grandmother. Also, I don't know who started the tradition of naming all first born son's William in our family, but seriously, it's really annoying at family gatherings." Nerina rambles.

Charlotte pulls Nerina into a warm hug.

"You're just like my Lottie." She whispers in Nerina's ear.

"Oh, I have another surprise for you, Charlotte and William." Selene says as she snaps her fingers.

Two figures stand in front of us, a man and woman, clear replicas of myself and Charlotte. Before I can react, Charlotte let's out a loud cry and collapses to the ground in tears. I fall next to her, cradling her to my body as the man and woman bend down next to me.

"Mom." They both whisper out.

"My babies, I'm so sorry I left you. I didn't have a choice. I'm so sorry." She whispers.

Grabbing both our children in an embrace, she repeats over and over that she's sorry as the tears continue streaming down her cheeks. They embrace her back, telling her they are okay and that they are there now. Once her tears subside, they both look at me curious looks upon their faces.

"Mother, who is this?" The man asks.

"Oh! My loves, this is your father, William." She says with a smile.

"Hello child—" That's all I manage to get out before a fist connects with my face and I'm knocked out cold.
