Chapter 442

"Three Lamb Skewers, please."

Qin Feng glanced at the smile Keith was wearing when he stepped forward with the two girls, and unable to read anything from it, he just nodded his head, getting to work.

"Fried or Grilled?" He asked.

"Grilled, of course."

There were a few minutes of silence between them, and the Child of Destiny solely focused on making their order, not looking at them again.

Even though he was not showing it, he was very agitated right now.

He could not understand what was running through Keith's mind when the latter suddenly approached his stall with the two ladies and then patiently stood in the line for his turn.

What was all of this about? He doubted that Keith ever stood in line to buy something from a food stall before.

Qin Feng even debated if he should close down his business for the day when he saw them earlier, right before they entered the Orphanage, but his pride had kept him rooted there. And his fears crept back in when he watched them approach his stall after coming out of the institution.

Keith was likely just amusing himself at what he was seeing, and he did not really care about the thoughts of the God of Darkness.

But the curious eyes of the two girls by his side unnerved him a little. He had a hunch that they were aware of his identity as well, and then there was this strange feeling in his heart that was making it restless.

"The Inheritance of Hades has no aspect of mischief in it, so, I suppose it's something intrinsic in your case,"

The words froze him, and despite his attempt to pay no heed to them, he could not help with raise his head and glance around.

Qin Feng was relieved to see that no one was paying attention to them. And he was a little alarmed too as he had not sensed when Keith used his magic to erect an isolation barrier.

"Mischief?" He looked into Keith's eyes and asked, and frowned when he saw the two girls furrowing their brows at his question.

"The dignified Inheritor of Hades, the Lord of Purgatory Island, the leader of the most Powerful Mercenary Organisation, and one of the richest people in the world. That's you. So, is it not mischief that you are here, amongst all these ordinary humans, who are not your equal? You want them to believe that you are the same as them. But in your heart, you are very clear that you are superior to them." Keith smiled. "A dragon in the herd of sheep. What could be his motives? You have me curious."

"I have no motives." He replied, focusing again on the Skewers that he was preparing.

"That's saddening." He frowned at the disappointment he sensed in Keith's voice, and despite himself, he ended up raising his head and meeting those dark eyes again. "You have lost sense of yourself."

The words cut deep into his heart, but he still managed to keep a blank expression.

"But perhaps, you never had a sense of yourself."

Qin Feng saw Keith glancing at his worn-out clothes, and a smile appeared on his face.

"Clothes don't make a man, Lord Erebus." He said.

"No, they don't. They just reflect who the man wearing them is." Keith smiled as well, a smile that made Qin Feng very uncomfortable.

"And what do my clothes represent?" He asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Other than your confusion? Your ungratefulness. A disrespect to all the blessings that you have received in life."

Feifei subconsciously nodded her head to Keith's words, agreeing with them completely, but tensed up a little when the Inheritor of Hades frowned at her.

Her dislike for this man was growing with every passing emotion that she sensed from him, especially his envy and dislike for Keith. The man was confused, and ungrateful to the core. He was someone who could never find satisfaction because he refused to acknowledge and honour the blessings that he had received.

She could also sense hints of lust as he stared at her, and she had sensed it earlier as well when he had looked at her best friend.

"The skewers." Keith reminded the Inheritor of Hades to turn them over on the grill, breaking him out of his thoughts, and a pregnant silence lasted between them for the next few minutes.

"Would you like to eat here or should I pack them?"

"Pack them," Keith told him and then took a few bills out of his wallet to pay.

"There's no need for it." Qin Feng shook his head when he saw that Keith was preparing to pay for the meal.

"I don't like owing things to people, Mr. Qin."

Rouxi frowned at the name Keith had used to address the Inheritor of Hades but did not raise the question that had suddenly popped up in her mind.

No one in this country would use the name Qin unless they belonged to the only Ancient Qin Family of China.

"They are delicious, by the way. Thank you." Keith smiled as Qin Feng accepted the money without any words, who was probably hoping that he would leave now.

"You haven't tasted them yet." The Chinese man looked at him with a frown.

"I can tell what they taste like without tasting them." He smiled. "Have a nice day."

Qin Feng watched Keith and the two ladies leave, and his brows started furrowing.

Having already known that Keith was always surrounded by the most beautiful women in the world, he was not too surprised at seeing these two new faces. However, there was something about the two of them that made his heart restless.

He was afraid if he kept looking at the girl with the cold eyes, he would have lost himself in her beauty. Her charm was even more deadly than that of Aphrodite. And then there was the other girl, whose dark eyes made him feel even more restless.

He did not know why, but he felt defenceless under her gaze. It was as if she could see right into his heart, and this feeling was not sitting well with him.

Suddenly, his mind focused on the pendant that she had been wearing, and his eyes narrowed at his thoughts.

Why did he feel like it was something that belonged to him?

And then there was this ache in his heart as he recalled the beautiful face of a certain princess.

However, he knew better than to ask Keith how Ingvild was doing now. And did she hate him now that she knew the truth?

All his life Qin Feng had thought that he would never regret his decisions, but he now regretted everything he ever did.

Away from the Inheritor of Hades, who was lost in his thoughts, Keith smiled at Rouxi when she turned to look at him.

"You are curious about his name?" He knowingly asked and watched the Child of Destiny nod her head. "His name is Qin Feng."

"Qin?" He frowned.

"He's your cousin."

The words were like a bombshell that dropped on their minds, and Feifei's mouth dropped open in shock.

"What?!" She asked in disbelief, and it was shared by Rouxi as well. "Seriously?"

"Yes. He is Rouxi's second cousin." He nodded to her and then proceeded to open the paper bag, taking out a piece of lamb meat before putting it in his mouth.

Seeing a smile cross his face, Feifei backed a little curious.

"Is it really tasty?" She sceptically asked, having quickly accepted Keith's words about Qin Feng being Rouxi's cousin, not raising the matter again.

"Try it." Keith offered the bag to her, and she picked a piece from it as she tasted it.

And true enough, it was good.

"It is good, but not good enough. You can make it better, can't you?" She confidently asked, and the smile on her face made him chuckle.

He could tell that she wanted him to cook for them again. And he had been refusing her requests for the last week now.

"Of course." He nodded and offered some to Rouxi as well, who absently took one and chewed on it.

"You are going to make them?" Feifei hopefully asked, and when he shook his head and grinned at her, she pouted and took another piece before eating it.

It was after they entered their car and Feifei hopped into the backseat that she raised a question that grabbed Rouxi's attention.

"Who's stronger of the two of you?" She looked at Keith and raised her brow at the smile that crept on his face.

"Erebus' legacy is stronger, of course."

"That's not what I mean. You know that."

"Why does it sound like you are worried about me?" He met her eyes in the rearview mirror and smiled.

"He envies you and has a strong dislike for you. He also fears you." She seriously said. "Those feelings are enough for him to be considered a threat."

Rouxi's eyes widened in surprise at her best friend's words, and now she too looked at Keith for an answer.

"You have any animosity with him?" She asked.

"He killed the father of the two girls who are dear to me," he shrugged, "And he fears me because he expects me to retaliate one day. He knows the consequences of a confrontation with me."

Feifei became even more tense after hearing his words, and Rouxi too was anxious in her heart now.

"They want to avenge their father?" The Chilf of Destiny asked.

"They are not driven by it. Not anymore." He shook his head, relieving them of some worry.

"But you would go after him." Feifei did not know why she had this feeling, and she still searched his eyes, seeking the answer to her earlier question.

"If the two of us fight to the death, I will come out as the victor." He told her and smiled when he saw her give him a light nod and put the paper bag with the meat skewers aside.

She was no longer in the mood to eat them.
