Duties

The normal Nights Race infantry were being pushed back as stronger warriors were engaged in battle with Blood Lilies heavy hitters.

"Blood Lily has gotten stronger." Thunder frowned

Daylight nodded, "The new program will be in motion after the war. I can only hope that it closes the gap."

"Good luck with that."

The heroes turned and found Nine comfortably seated on a rock. He had a phone in one hand and revealed that the villain was playing a game.

"Why aren't you fighting?" Goldilocks snapped

Nine replied, "Because my unit head hasn't given me the 'go again' signal. Which are these restraints coming off."

"You're just telling us?" Undine frowned

"Whether you know or don't doesn't change anything. It's not like I told you a major secret or something." Nine sighed and continued playing.

*EXPLOSIONS*

Nine turned his eyes to the source nonchalantly. He saw giant creatures and other Nights Race coming toward them.

"Reinforcements, huh?" Nine sighed

The villain stood up and yawned. His eyes looked around the battlefield and he jumped into the sky. Nine landed on a warrior that Gadget was fighting.

"What's up?" Gadget frowned

Nine frowned, "Just stop. You're embarrassing me."

Nine turned to the other Pillars that we engaged in heated battles and back at the warrior his leader fought.

Nine raised a brow, "And he asks me 'What's up' like an idiot."

"You think I can do that?" Gadget frowned pointing at Caesar

"Of course and a while ago so did you." Nine answered "What the hell is up with you?"

"Is this really the time?" Gadget reacted

"Kinda, yeah." Nine yawned " We need to address the elephant in the room and I think I have your undivided attention."

"There's nothing wrong!" Gadget replied

Nine replied with a scary look, "And that's a lie and you know it. Are you scared, Pillar of Perseverance?"

"And if I am?" Gadget answered

"Well, boohoo for you." Nine frowned "You're gonna get all of us fucking killed. Get off the battlefield."

Gadget was speechless for a moment as Nine's eyes looked at him. He wasn't joking.

"It's not that simple!" Gadget frowned "It's-"

"It's more to you and the Pillars right?" Nine completed "You think we don't know?"

Gadget's face became pale. A small smile finally mockingly spread over Nine's face.

"Everyone in all the units is aware that there's something more." Nine went "Yet they are dying out there. While you're struggling with this piece of trash!!"

Nine stepped down on the dead warrior's body. The corpse was split in the force of the villain's stomp.

"Our future doesn't look bright." Gadget frowned

Nine scoffed, "You're a villain and you want a bright future? Release my chains and leave the battlefield, sir."

"You don't know what's out there." Gadget snapped as he pressed a button on his remote

Nine's shackles came off. He looked at him with pity and Gadget felt his insides turn.

"You should be ashamed of yourself, Vance." Nine said "Ixtal has more phobias than you. She hasn't overcome her Hemophobia- the fear of blood and she's fighting her ass off in this war. While you're worrying about the damn future?!"

Nine gently massaged his hands where the shackles as jolts of electricity started to pulse through his body.

"You're pathetic. There, I said what you've been thinking all along." Nine smiled "Perseverance? I have no idea what the Boss was thinking. You just don't last when things get hard."

"What is this some sort of pep talk?" Gadget reacted

Nine smirked, "I couldn't give a damn. I'm better off hacking into a grandmother's bank account. I'm heading out there to make sure our men get home alive to their not-so-bright happy homes and futures."

The clouds started to thunder and lighting became visible within them. His eyes started to gain life and the sleepy villain was nowhere to be found. His harpoon appeared in his hand and he fired it.

Two giants fell to the ground with holes in their heads. Nine started ordering the Hub unit villains and the number of enemies dying started to increase.

"Hey." Nine sighed

Gadget ruffled his hair in frustration and he stared back at him. The villain grumbled to himself before opening his mouth.

"Worrying about the future is stupid since you're doing nothing to change it." Nine ended "Now leave."

Nine turned his eyes to the battlefield with an emotionless gaze. Several harpoons emerged and fired in various directions, killing their targets. He raised his hand and lightning struck down on the enemy lines.

Nine ducked his head to dodge a sword aimed at his neck. Something was cut and blue liquid splashed on the floor and Nine winced.

"You're an octopus!" The female warrior exclaimed

Nine smiled, "Was it a secret?"

A tentacle swept at the ground and created a dust cloud. She turned her body and collided with Nine's electricity-coated hands. The warrior pulled back and abandoned her weapon.

The sword shattered in Nine's grip. The villain looked back at her with a wide, maniacal smile on his face.

"Hmm." he smiled disappearing into the dust cloud

Lightning in the clouds was going crazy as well. The female warrior put on gauntlets with an unusual pattern on them. She punched forward confidently and hit a tentacle.

The tentacle wrapped around the fist and Nine's face appeared in front of hers. She saw static rushing through as the clouds above thundered.

"Shit," she exclaimed

The villains started to abandon their fights and started to a great distance.

Nine frowned, "I hate doing this."

As the dust cloud started to disperse, Nine opened his mouth. The ground rumbled as larger-than-necessary vehicles came in. The crane held a large metal box-like item and TNT worked the controls quickly.

As Nine released his poisonous ink cloud the box fell, enclosing him and his enemy. The villains only released sighs of relief when another large glass cover was placed over the battle.

"We survived." Giantess sighed
