Chapter 17 Magical Beasts

During the second and third days of the carriage journey back home, My grandmother took the opportunity to explain to me about magical beasts. Magical beasts were wild and untamed creatures that possessed powerful magical abilities. They were often feared and misunderstood by humans, and were considered to be dangerous. However, some magical beasts could take on a humanoid form, which allowed them to live among humans. They were different from demi-humans, which were a race of people who possessed unique characteristics such as pointed ears, horns, or tails, but still resembled humans.

As they continued their journey, grandmother also told him about the wolf he had rescued. She explained that it was not just an ordinary wolf, but a magical beast known as a "Lunar wolf." These wolves possessed the ability to shift into a humanoid form, but they were also known for their fierce loyalty and protective nature. She explains that caring for a magical beast is different from caring for a regular animal, as they have different needs and abilities. For example, a magical beast may require different types of food or medicine, and it may also need to be trained and exercised differently.

She also explains that it's important to understand the nature of the beast, and its strengths and weaknesses so that they can provide the best care possible.

She explains that, just like any other creature, magical beasts need to be trained and taught how to behave in a civilized society. She tells me that it's my responsibility to make sure that the wolf is well-behaved and does not pose a threat to anyone.

My grandmother tells me that the wolf can stay in the room for magical beasts that were used by my ancestors to keep their pets. She explains that this room is specifically designed to house and care for magical beasts and that it has all the necessary amenities such as comfortable bedding, food and water dispensers, and even a magical barrier to keep the beast contained and protected. She also reminded me that I will need to take responsibility for the wolf's care, including feeding and grooming it, as well as training it and ensuring its safety. I listen attentively and am excited to take on this new responsibility and grateful for my grandmother's guidance.

I have met several magical beasts in the past. Some almost managed to kill me with their unique magical abilities. Still, I was quite excited to have the lunar wolf, as I had never encountered this magical beast before.

After three days of travelling, I and my grandmother finally arrived back at the family mansion. The carriage ride had been long and tiring, but I was excited to finally be home. As they approached the mansion, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the grandeur of the building. The mansion had been passed down through his family for generations and it was a symbol of their wealth and prestige. I checked the wolf and found it lying there, weak and injured. I carefully picked it up and carried it inside the mansion. My grandmother followed me, providing instructions to the servants on how to take care of the wolf and where to keep it.

As they entered the mansion, the servants came to greet them and take their bags and the injured wolf. My grandmother went to her room to rest, but I was eager to see the magical beast I had rescued on their journey home. I quickly made my way to the room for magical beasts, which had been used by my ancestors to house their pets in a large room with high ceilings and stone walls.

I was greeted by the sight of the lunar wolf he had rescued. The wolf was lying on the ground, it was already cleaned by the servants and treated but I could see that it was injured, and I knew I needed to take care of it. I approached the wolf slowly, not wanting to startle it. To my surprise, the wolf looked up at me with big, brown eyes, and let out a soft whimper. I realized that the wolf was not going to harm me and I reached out to pet it. The wolf nuzzled at my hand and I felt a sense of warmth in my heart. I knew that I had made the right decision in rescuing the wolf.

Gains the wolf's trust.

Reward = Companion

The quest was completed but I was given another task. The rewards were still the same. At the end of the day, I felt content and fulfilled. I had settled the wolf into its new home, get the artefact, and helped someone in need. As I lay in bed that night, I felt at peace with the world and confident in my ability to make a difference this time. I knew that my journey was far from over and that there would be many more challenges and obstacles to overcome in the future. But I was ready for whatever lay ahead, and, I knew that I could face anything with the right attitude and the right mindset.

***

For the next few days, I would do my normal routine and spend some time caring for the wolf. I made sure it was fed and given water, and I cleaned its fur and treated its wounds. I also spent time playing with the wolf and getting to know it better. I was amazed at how intelligent the wolf was and how quickly it seemed to learn. My grandfather also finally returned from a meeting with an old friend. I was excited to see my grandfather, as the two of them had always had a close relationship. As they sat down to dinner that evening, I couldn't help but tell his grandfather about the Lunar wolf he had taken in and the young female student he had met at the academy.

My grandfather listened intently, nodding and offering words of encouragement as I spoke. When I finished talking, his grandfather leaned back in his chair and smiled. "You have a kind heart, my boy," he said. "But remember, with great power comes great responsibility. As a noble, you must use your resources and influence to help those in need, but always be mindful of the consequences of your actions."

I nodded, taking my grandfather's words to heart.
