Chapter 21: Mistral Gryphon

Region 9

Ren Ying, Huang Ling and Li Yuxong are travelling through a forbidden area. This region is marked as one of the most dangerous region in the map.

Huang Ling is leading everyone and at this moment, Ren Ying stopped.

He looked at Huang Ling with his deep gaze and said. "I know, you are planning for soul search. Trust me, if you ever did that, it would be your worst mistake. Because, even if you get the method for antidote, you won't be able to make it. This small world doesn't possess any such materials. And we can contest, if you Soul Search me faster, or I destroy materials faster."

Huang Ling looked at him and said. "You are over thinking."

At the same time, she cursed inwardly. 'I know for sure that he must be bluffing, but, I can't take risk. He knows this, this why he mentioned at this point! But, even if I can't Soul Search you, I can still punish you in other ways.'

Soon, they reached to the core area. They found a Water stream falling from above, and this stream seems special.

Ren Ying frowned. He looked towards the top, and saw that the Water stream appeared out of thin air. He murmured. "Why does this Spring appeared out of thin air in this dimension?"

Suddenly he thought of something and his face changed. 'No, it can't be.' As he sank into a deep thought, Huang Ling pulled him out. "Are you an idiot?"

Ren Ying immediately snapped out of it and looked towards her. "What happened?"

Huang Ling said. "What did you mean when you asked that question? Must everything have source?"

Ren Ying immediately replied as if it was an obvious thing. "Isn't it?"

Huang Ling looked at him, as if looking at an idiot. "If everything must have source, then answer me. Why is there something rather than nothing?"

Ren Ying immediately realised her meaning. 'She is right. If everything must have cause of existence, then there shouldn't be any universe, any humans, any world, or anything. My question is really idiotic. Not every question has an answer, and not everything has a source. But...'

Ren Ying's eyes turned deep, and as if a shackle broken within his body, his temperament changed. He felt a deep despair at his terrifying assumption. 

'Even though what she said is true. But, if my assumptions are right, then all those unanswered questions that have left a bottleneck for me could be explained. Anyways, there is no point of thinking too much at this time, I will focus on it again later on.'

Ren Ying recollected his thoughts and looked forward.

Huang Ling said. "I can still feel a deep sense of danger from this pond. I am sure, there must be a Rank 6 peak Beast in there!"

Ren Ying looked at her and nodded. "Ok then, I will take Li Yuxong and wait at the edge. You solve it on your own, and when it is resolved, call me."

Saying that, without waiting for her reply, he took Li Yuxong and started leaving.

Huang Ling looked at him and frowned, but didn't say anything. She took a deep look at the pond. 

"When I last came here, I was only Rank 5 peak. Now, I have reached Rank 6. Even though it won't be easy, but I must defeat this."

She took out one of her Space Ring, and called out Whirlwind Eagle. It has now completely healed from the previous wounds.

She immediately ordered it to attack the water.

Suddenly, a giant Gryphon emerged from the lake. Huang Ling looked at it and immediately recognized. 

"Mistral Gryphon"

It is a rank 6 peak stage beast. Mystral Gryphon has a natural ability to control wind attribute. It immediately used Wind, to create a cyclone within the Water, with a dragon mouth. 

The Water dragon created moved towards the Whirlwind Eagle. Whirlwind Eagle has a natural ability to control thunder and wind both. But, it's control over Wind is lesser as compared to Mistral Gryphon.

Huang Ling didn't have to order anything. The beasts have their own instincts when they fight. Any instruction can cause disruption in their natural way of attacking, which can be a fatal mistake.

She immediately shouted. "Spiritual Imprint: Divine Phoenix"

A majestic shadow appeared behind her again, and even the Mistral Gryphon was alarmed. It stopped attacking the Whirlwind Eagle and attacked Huang Ling instead.

Huang Ling again used her move. "Infernal Beam"

But, the Gryphon was prepared. It used Wind attribute to create hundreds of layers in between. This reduced the power of the attack, and when it was about to reach the 80th layer, it used Wind Tornado, to deflect the rest of it's power in every direction.

Ren Ying face turned ugly as he looked at some of Infernal Beam coming towards him. He immediately used a Thunder type fist attack, but was still thrown away few meters into the wall, and immediately coughed out some blood. 

'Am I so unlucky?'

Huang Ling continued attacking from the front, and the Whirlwind Eagle from the back. The Mistral Gryphon was suppressed but it still has the ability to continue fighting. 

From the looks of it, it doesn't seem like this battle will end so quickly

Ren Ying hid behind a huge rock and started looking at the battle.

The battle became more and more intense, and few hours later, the rock also shattered, seriously injuring Ren Ying. 

He cursed. "Damn it."

He knew he can stay no longer, and immediately left the area.

Huang Ling looked at him leaving and corner of her lips curled up. She stopped attacking the Beast, and said with a deep voice. 

"Submit to me."

The Gryphon looked at her and attacked immediately. 

Huang Ling, as if expected this outcome, calmly took out a small bell, and rang it. As soon as the Mistral Gryphon heard the bell, it felt deep pain from interior of it's soul. It started struggling.

She said again. "Submit to me."

The Gryphon immediately lowered it's head, submitting to her.

Ren Ying who has just left, no one knows when, returned and looked at everything happening with a mocking face.

As Huang Ling took the beast and turned back, her face changed. "When did you?"

Ren Ying looked at her and said with disdain. "Your tactics are too childish. Do you think I would fall for such an obvious thing?"

"Now, how are you going to compensate me? For my mental damage!" Ren Ying looked at her and asked with a smile.

Huang Ling looked at him and asked. "What do you want?"

Ren Ying smiled. "Both"

Huang Ling immediately denied. "Impossible, don't push your luck."

Ren Ying looked at her, and took out all the antidotes he has left. He said. "Shall I destroy everything here?"

Huang Ling's face changed and shouted. "No."

Ren Ying smiled. "That's it."

She took out Mistral Gryphon and the Bell. She said. "This bell is known as Soulbind chime. It is used for doing a soul attack, but, to use it, you should be able to utilise your soul power. It is of no use to you. This is why I am saying just take Mistral Gryphon."

Ren Ying looked at her deeply. "No need, you keep them with yourself."

Huang Ling looked at her and felt bitter. 'He is too smart. I should have let him have the Soulbind chime without explaining it. But, I hesitated. It is too precious to me, and this led to him noticing the trap.'

Ren Ying came near the lake, formed the Waterfall and asked. "Can you explain it's use?"

Huang Ling looked at him and replied. "This is Soul spring. It is very rare, and is able to automatically increase the cultivation of soul, without the need for cultivation."

Ren Ying looked at her deeply and said. "Continue"

Huang Ling was puzzled. "What?"

Ren Ying said. "I don't believe there is such a thing as a pie falling from the sky. I need the Soul Spring most, and it suddenly appeared in front of me? I don't think there is such a good thing. I have always been unlucky throughout my life."

Huang Ling cursed inwardly. 'This fox'

She smiled and said innocently. "The only drawback is the longer you stay in the pond, the higher the pain you suffer. If you want to increase the soul cultivation from scratch, then you have to bear the pain of countless ants crawling on your body and biting your flesh, just to reach Rank 3!"

She added. "Those with Soul Injury will face multiple times the pain, corresponding to the degree of the injury."

Ren Ying looked at her and nodded, while laughing inwardly. 'She doesn't know, I don't have any soul injury.'

Huang Ling reminded him again. "Are you sure you want to enter? This is not something Rank 1s can bear. Your soul has to be at least Rank 4 to bear the huge pain."

Ren Ying thought and then said in a firm tone. "A person doesn't get many chances in his life. If I let go of this opportunity, I don't know how long it will take for me to sense my soul again, and if I even have another opportunity to increase my soul cultivation!"

'For me, this is the greatest opportunity of this adventure. Even if I don't get the final Inheritance, I would still be satisfied.'

He took off his clothes, and entered the periphery of the lake. He didn't go deep, as he wants to familiarize himself with it first. The deeper one goes, the more pain they will feel and the more cultivation increases.

Just as he entered the lake, he felt deep pain, and immediately left it. He finally understand why she said it's not something for Rank 1s.

Huang Ling looked at him and gloated inwardly. Li Yuxong was expressionless.

Ren Ying finally started hesitating but as he thought of his life experiences. He made up his mind again.

Ren Ying continued entering and exiting again and again. Every time he enters, he shouts all kinds of curses.

Huang Ling and Li Yuxong were puzzled, but Ren Ying ignored them. Initially, he could remain for only 1 seconds, but as he kept entering and exiting for straight one month, he was now able to remain in it for 1 minute.

Huang Ling was also surprised at his progress. But, she didn't give up such opportunity either. She entered deepest part and continued cultivating. Meanwhile, Li Yuxong also stayed in the periphery and was able to stay in it for an hour! After seeing Ren Ying's perseverance, he was somehow inspired, and competed inwardly.
