Chapter 12: First kill, a terrible experience!

Somewhere in the Small World

Within the forest, a large camp was set up.

Long Yifan looked at Long Chen and asked darkly: "Still not found?"

Long Chen replied politely: "No, we have searched them everywhere, but this small world is very big. It is difficult to cover every area!"

Long Yifan was irritated, but still kept him mind cool and asked: "What is the progress of Soul Stone? Have you find any inheritance clue?"

Long Chen was pleased at the question, and replied immediately as if he was waiting for this opportunity.

"Yes, we found a large Soul Stone mine in that direction. We also found the clue to inheritance, but it seems we were a bit late, and the news is already spread among others. There is a barrier surrounding the inheritance, and by our calculations, it should open within 3 years!"

Long Yifan nodded and was pleased at the news. For someone like him, who has cultivated for around 60 years, waiting for 3 years is no big deal, not to mention, when this inheritance may continue for straight up 10-15 years.

He murmured: "It was a good idea to spread our people in different directions to create a proper map of this place. I can't imagine what is the difficulty those without maps would be facing! Even though this map is still incomplete, as we haven't discovered many regions due to lack of man power, it is still good enough for now. Without this map, we can't even determine a proper direction in this ghost place."

He looked at Long Chen and said: "Continue the search of that young lady."

Long Chen nodded and left. Long Chen is also a Warrior from the Spirit Dragon Clan, son of an elder. He is already in his 80s, and reached rank 4 peak stage. He is one of the loyal follower of Long Yifan.

Unlike the real world, where everyone is familiar with the environment and there are also many maps to help them with directions, people in this place face lots of problem in finding proper direction. The only way to determine the direction, is using the flow of water in the river. Generally, the flow of river is from mountain to the ocean. So, if you go in the opposite direction of flow of river, you will enter deeper into the landmass.

Shadow Phoenix Sect's Camp

Huang Weimin looked at the newcomer: "Is the news true?"

Huang Yulan said in a serious tone: "Yes young master. We found the true inheritance, but it will take 3 years to open!"

Huang Weimin looked at her and nodded. "Keep looking for the Soul Stones. It is very important!"

Soul stone helps in improving Soul Cultivation, thereby improving the grade of Spiritual Imprint. As the Soul Cultivation increases, the grade of Spiritual Imprint also improves. It is much rare as compared to Spirit Stones.

At a certain place in the forest

A young man was standing on top of the tree, covered in clothes made of leaf. He has made a tent like structure on top of tree itself, and was scanning everything.

Li Gang murmured: "It seems I slept longer than before. With Wang Xueyao, I couldn't keep my guard down, and barely slept properly in the last year. I don't know how long it has passed."

 One loses the judgement of time when they sleep, one hour may seem one day, and one minute may seem hours, even vice versa can also be true!

He looked at everything, and thought. 'The beasts are as usual, I should hunt some rank 4s, their core would sell plenty. It would also help me overcome my fear of death!'

As he thought of this, he immediately started scheming to catch Iron Rhino. It is a rank 4 early stage beast live around few miles from his location. These are known for their incredible strength. Li Gang spent few days to find it's usual path.

Then he reached a particular location, where the Rhino visits often. Li Gang immediately started digging up and then put a fresh flesh over the pit, hidden by leaves. He also made few traps, carved from sharp pointed woods that he hid beneath the leaves.

"This shouldn't be enough to even harm it. Iron Rhino's defense is very tough, it may only leave few scratches."

As Li Gang murmured, he took out a pouch and used Viper's kiss over each of the pointed edges. Thinking of the Iron Rhino's cultivation level of rank 4, he also added some of it into the flesh used as a bait!

After making arrangements, Li Gang left the area and returned to his camp. He started tracking the Rhino's moment from the top.

Few hours later, the Rhino fell into the trap, but unfortunately, it didn't ate the flesh.

Li Gang looked at the situation and murmured. "It's a pity. But, it doesn't matter. Plans are not absolute. No plan in the world can be absolute unless you know the exact snapshot of the world. Thus we need to learn to adapt to the uncertainties and make changes accordingly!"

As he thought of this, Li Gang immediately climbed a nearby tree and tracked the location of the Rhino. He took out the Shadowleaf bow and an arrow. He put the pouch at the tip of the arrow and aimed at the Rhino from a mile away.

With his sharp eyes, he could still see the Rhino's location. He thought: 'No matter how talented, I can't learn archery to this level to hit the Rhino from a mile away in just 5-6 years of training. If it were within 500 meters, I would have been able to accurately target it, but it doesn't matter, as long as the arrow reaches even within 20 meters of the Rhino, my goal would be achieved!'

With a resolute gaze, he fired the arrow. Within the blink of an eye, the arrow reached near the foot of the Iron Rhino, and suddenly a huge smoke blasted. The Iron Rhino was frightened at the sudden blast, and tried to run away immediately, but it was too late, it has already inhaled a large amount of Venomheart mist!

This was a poison that could harm even rank 5 Warriors. This is also why he thought he should have used it against Spiritfire Wolf. Even though, it has no affect on the Spiritfire wolf, it would still instinctively try to avoid it, and in that time, Li Gang would have sufficient time to run away.

The Iron Rhino is very tenacious. Even at this stage, it immediately ran away from the location. Seeing this scene, Li Gang frowned. 

'Is my luck so bad, the one I hunted has to be a very healthy Iron Rhino. But, I am patient enough to wait till the poison shows it's effect. My prey won't be going anywhere!'

Just as Li Gang was thinking of this, a huge fireball reached the Iron Rhino and blinded it's eye momentarily, and in the mean time, a young man with his spear, pierced it's neck and killed it.

The young man glanced at a certain direction and said loudly.

"Thank you for helping me. It was a wonderful sight of seeing a rank 2 ant trying to hunt a rank 4 Beast!"

Li Gang was shocked at the sudden turn of event and immediately started sweating. 'It's over. I didn't even notice someone was keeping track on me all this while! He must be at least rank 3 Warrior and looking at his crest, he is from Spirit Dragon Clan.'

Li Gang didn't object and said. "Since you killed it, it's yours. I will leave then, goodbye."

As Li Gang was leaving, Long Xuan stopped him immediately. "You are Li Gang, right?"

Covering a mile is too easy for a rank 3 Warrior. He approached Li Gang within a few seconds!

An average rank 1 Warrior has speed of 50 m/s, rank 2 Warrior has speed of 150 m/s, and similarly rank 3 Warriors generally have speed of 250 m/s! These are only brute speed. Using Secret Techniques, one can even have triple of their speed, but only for short period.

Li Gang was surprised. "Do you know me?"

Long Xuan smiled. "Yes, young master ordered everyone of our member to hunt you down! So, please die here."

Li Gang felt chill running down his spine. He immediately said: "But I didn't do anything?"

Long Xuan nodded. "You are just unlucky to be her fiancé!" 

Li Gang immediately understood the matter. 'It seems my commotion created a problem for me.' Without any hesitation, he knelt down immediately. "Please spare my life, I didn't even want to marry her. If your young master want, then he can have her. Just don't kill me. I can even be slave to your young master as long as you spare me!" As he spoke, he immediately caught one of the leg of Long Xuan.

Long Xuan looked at him with disdain. "Do you think anyone could be a slave to our future clan leader? Someone like you who is only rank 2 also deserve it?"

Li Gang looked at him with a pitiful eyes, and started shredding tears. "Please spare me!"

Long Xuan looked at him indifferently, and took out his knife, but as he swing it, Li Gang dodged immediately.

Long Xuan was surprised. "You do have some skills."

Long Xuan instantly moved towards Li Gang and started swinging the knife, but no matter what he does, somehow Li Gang was able to dodge.

As the fight continues, Li Gang started gaining advantage.

Long Xuan immediately started thinking. 'How could it be? Why is he getting fast?'

Suddenly a realization stuck his mind and he murmured. "No, he is not getting faster, I am getting slower."

He was shocked and cold sweat broke in his head, as he asked: "When? I am sure I wasn't hit by any poison!"

Li Gang looked at him with disdain and said. "When you killed the Iron Rhino, it also inflicted some injuries to your legs. Even though it were few scratches, it was enough to inflict poison into the blood. You were too proud and this became your weakness. You didn't dodge when I begged for mercy."

Long Xuan was surprised and knew he was going to die. "I don't believe it should be enough."

Li Gang nodded. "I also secretly spread colourless and odourless poison surrounding me as soon as I found you!"

Long Xuan felt despair at that moment. "Who would have expected, that I would fall for such cheap tricks one day."

Suddenly he moved towards Li Gang to do a surprise attack, but at that moment, a knife sealed his throat. With that, his body fell down. He died.

Li Gang looked at the knife and his hand started shaking. The knife in his hand fell at the ground.

'I killed someone. Did I just kill a person?'

But he suppressed his emotion. 'Don't think of it. Don't think about it. It was better to kill him, or else I would have died. This is a world without laws. Here, survival is the most important rule! Don't regret such decisions.'

Li Gang felt strong disgust that night. But, he didn't regret his decision. It was the first time he let go of his emotion, so that he could calm down. Sometimes, letting go of emotion is much better than suppressing them. 

Long Xuan wanted to kill him. It's a pity, he doesn't know Li Gang has made a habit over 10 years of period! He doesn't let down his guard. He keeps observing his surrounding even when he doesn't do anything! He can multitask many things at once.
