“I have a reputation as someone not to be crossed in this town. I’ve got a temper, and I’ve been in a few fights. I’ve had women cross the street with their children when they see me. Like I’d attack their children just because I’ve fought men my own age and size.” Rene shakes his head. He knows what it’s like to be judged by people. He gets it a lot in this town and when he’s out in the human world.
“I mean, you’re a big, butch guy, but when you picked me up at the airport, I wasn’t afraid of you, even though you could probably bench press me.” Evan smiles.
“What did you think? When you saw me?” Rene asks. He’s wondered.
“I thought you were hot. Then you didn’t shake my hand, and I thought you were kind of an ass,” Evan says, and he seems like such an honest guy when it is just the two of them. It’s nice.
