After three years of marriage, Wendy Stewart was used to Michael Lucas's sarcastic remarks, his frequent threats about getting divorced, and even his indulgence of a mistress. She thought that she could bear with this her entire life, until she accidentally got pregnant with a child that Michael did not want. Finally despondent, Wendy signed the divorce agreement and left. She thought they could have parted ways forever, but Michael refused to stop looking for her after the divorce. When they met again, she was the world's top designer. Smiling sweetly at her ex-husband, she said, "My dear, we're already divorced." Michael simply stared at her coldly, "Tell me, what will it take for us to reconcile?"
Wendy was beside Michael and whispered, "Why don't you go back and check it out first?"
"Aren't you angry?" Michael drove the car and couldn't easily look at Wendy's expression, so he had to ask her.
"How can I not be angry? But that's your mother, after all. And the situation does seem serious. We can't really ignore it, can we?" Wendy said, "But I won't go back with you. Just go and see for yourself."
"Thank you, Wendy," said Michael. "I'll take you back, and then make a trip to the main house."
"That's okay. Just stop the car on the side of the road and I'll take a taxi back by myself."
Michael did not drop Wendy off on the road but sent her back. Then, he went to the main house.
When Michael's grandmother saw that Michael was back, she immediately leaned on her crutches and told him the situation, "As soon as your father came back this afternoon, your mother went to the kitchen and got the kitchen knife.
