"Can you believe it?" Greta said, waving her permission slip around in the air while me and Darian sat on the bed, shaking our heads. "Why the hell would they do this?" she asks, bringing the paper close to her face and sniffing it.
I rolled my eyes, "Who knows, our Alpha was acting kind of funny," I say, rereading the slip. I hope my parents would sign it, what a sight it'd be to see the most known killer ever known. Something to impress my grandkids one day.
Darian turns to me, looking confused,
"What do you mean?" he asks me.
"Yeah, what's that smart brain of yours coming up with?" Greta tags along with what Darian said.
I shrug, "The Alpha was being very perturbed, as if he was doing something he didn't want to," I say. It was true, like I've said before, he's usually very relaxed. When he was in the video, that was not relaxed, and it rose my suspicious of the unknown".
They turn to each other, nodding. "If we all can go, we can walk around, "Greta recommends.
I look at her with wide eyes. "You must be crazy, it's the most secure prison ever in history. How could a could kids stalk around?" I ask. It was on the brink of impossible. Greta must be going nuts over my theory.
"Yeah, but we can still try and listen to our Alpha but just don't get caught," she winks, holding up her index finger.
I sigh, mumbling, "Oh god we are going to die next week." It's true, if we were caught, we might get killed because one, it's the top prison and two, we aren't going to be on our own territory.
Greta crosses her arms, "Whatever, anyways, I've got to get going, bye.
C'mon Darian, I'll walk you," she says, grabbing his hand and dragging him out of my room.
"See you tomorrow!" Darian shouted from the end of the hallway. I shook my head and laughed; she was persistent to leave.
Anyways, now it was time to ask my parents if I could visit this prison. A once in the lifetime chance. All I had to do was be convincing, saying it's going to be on a test or whatever.
As I finish that thought, the front door opens and slams shut, dad! I run downstairs, making sure to bring the papers and a full pen. I was going, no matter what I tell you!
"Hey dad!" I smile, peaking around the corner of the wall.
He looks up at me with a tired face then smiles back, "Good evening my love, what's that in your hand?" he asks.
I bite my lip; I need to start out simple. "A permission slip." I hope that was vague enough for him. But I knew he'd eventually push me to tell him, or he would just take the paper and read it. Not everybody has time for my shit. I learnt that lesson long ago.
He raises an eyebrow, "So what are you hiding from me?" he asks like I'm an open book.
I groan, he knew me too well for any of my pathetic tactics to work, damnit. "The Alpha gave everybody at the high school a permission slip to go to the top security prison to see the worst criminals in werewolf history that are alive," I tell him, being completely honest. Sometimes that worked, it just mattered what mood he was in at the moment.
His face goes straight, "Oh yes, I got an automatic phone call from his office. Would you like to go? I know our family has had extremely bad history with those killers and their mates, but I won't let that convince you on this trip it's your choice," he breathes out. I knew my dad well enough that he didn't want me to go, but he respected that i was almost an adult and I could make my own choices in life.
"I want to", I simply say, handing him the pen and paper. He nodded, sitting on the couch to fill out the papers as excitement built inside of me.
I was actually going to do this? it came out more like a question.
The next week, I woke up an hour early, too excited to sleep. Probably because I'd see those bastards who killed my family, and I could personally give them the bird. That's nothing, but I couldn't kill them. I wish I could, they all deserve to be hanged, and while they suffered from choking on a silver rope, set fire to the rope. A bit extreme, but they killed the innocent.
I went diving in my dresser and found a cute outfit for the occasion. A flower prints off the shoulder blouse, along with black leggings and grey sneakers. Oh, and pink lingerie, always have to match or I just don't feel comfortable.
When I arrived at school, all the kids went to their classes, but two classes were combined. Which means two classes went at a time- every two hours. Luckily the class mine merged with was with Darian. I was going to feel so awkward if neither of my best friends were with me on this one in a lifetime trip. Poor Greta, but I know she has a lot of other friends. I believe she will be good. "Okay class," the teacher says snapping me out of my thoughts. Darian didn't bother to listen since he was listening to Hollywood Undead on his phone, i guess I'm going to have to tell him later the rules and crap. I knew they were going to be strict.
"As you all know, we are going today to the Alpha Prison, the strongest know prison in the werewolf world. But first, rules-" this made the students sigh, tired of rules, they already had enough at school. They just didn't understand you couldn't be stupid in this place. If you were, you could get killed, and not by the murderers.
"Rule 1: Never, ever, split away from the group. If you do, please find the nearest guard and they will understand your situation and bring you back.
Rule 2: Do not talk to, touch, or stare at the prisoners. Staring contests can make them agitated and angry. Looking and glancing is permitted.
Rule 3: As you know, our Alpha will be there. Listen to his every command. You should already be doing that, but being teenagers, you need reminders.
Breaking any of these rules can leave you to be punished by the prison's guards who are ruthless and have no care if you are petite, big, girl, or if you have a dick. Now, any questions?" my teacher smiles.
I slowly raise my hand and he spot it immediately, frowning, my questions were never jokes. He knew if I didn't get them answered, l would have to find the answer myself.
"Evelyn," he calls my name and people turn towards me and I lightly blush. I hated raising my hand sometimes.
I cough, "What's the point of this trip? There's no reason to do this, there's no educational purpose. So, what's the deal?" I ask, repeating my question differently so he knew I wanted to know.
He looks to his right quickly before looking at me. He was going to fucking lie, great. "Great question. We were given this opportunity to show everybody the truth behind these criminals," he says in a shaky voice.
Darian squints his eyes at the teacher, I didn't know he had taken his earbuds out. One thing we had in common was we hated being lied to.
He's normally shy, but when people lie, he will tell you.
"You're lying," Darian says, having a staring contest with the nervous teacher.
He laughs, "Well, ask the Alpha," he smiles.
"Now off we go kids," he says, turning away immediately to avoid us.
Off we go, off we go.
