Kwan slumped tiredly on the seat he chose. He was on his way to the diner that his best friend used to work. He wanted to check again and wanted to grab his favorite cotton candy. He sighed as he hugged himself as a way to find comfort when he saw that he was riding alone on the bus.
The past few weeks have been hard on Kwan as he struggled to excuse Eungoo from his classes saying that he had been hospitalized. The understanding professors wished that their star student should get well soon, while the other professors who were strict demanded a certified doctor's letter. And because Kwan had small ranged connections, he needed to do some research and transactions before he could get the deed done. And as a caring alpha of his gang, he didn't want them to be involved as much as possible so he tried his best to be as discrete as he could manage.
He was losing sleep than usual. His midterms were coming up and he was still searching for his best friend. He was even wondering if he could file a leave of absence and drop the classes that Eungoo was taking at the moment. Kwan slapped himself lightly and thought that if he would do that then Eungoo will lose his scholarship. He could barely raise himself and along with the hundreds of members in his gang trying to survive on the streets and in life.
Min Kwan has matured at a very young age without giving much of a choice. His parents had died in a car accident and no relative wanted to take him in. His childhood was filled with memories of jumping from one foster home and into another. He was called 'the problem child'. They wanted to adopt Kwan no matter what because he looked so cute and quiet but as a boy, he always did naughty things so that his new parents would kick him out.
The only thing so remarkable about Kwan was that he never gave up on his education since his mom used to tell him that it was the only most valuable gift that he could inherit from them. So he never gave up on learning even when he had to hustle to get there. He wasn't really bothered by the loneliness he had felt but ever since he met Kim Eungoo in a class, he understood what it meant and was too scared to face it even up until now.
The bus then stopped at its destination and it was Kwan's cue to get off. When the vehicle doors slid to the side he was greeted by the girl that caused Eungoo to lose his job but this time she was struggling with her hair and was crying as her friends tried to help her. Kwan then slowly jumped off and whistled to himself. Came in full display of another woman that was as red as a tomato and was being guided out the door. Kwan was intrigued and amused at the same time.
"And it just keeps getting better and better…" He said to himself.
As soon as Kwan got it so many customers started storming off. The boy couldn't help himself and laugh at the mess. Tables flipped to the sides and chairs too. There was so much wasted food that had been splattered on the ground. The waiters were helping the other employees to get up from the ground. The owner was chasing down his customers and trying his best to apologize.
"Hey…" Kwan said and gently hooked his hand on the arm of a waiter. "What happened here." He asked acting all concerned.
"I have no idea! It started off with a girl getting gum on her hair, and then there were rats and then the wife of the mayor wanted to dine in and then… Oh, man… I don't know… I just started working here…" The guy shook his head and left Kwan to go help out cleaning.
Kwan bit his lip smiling and was a little surprised when a huge rat came rushing across the table. He was too happy that he kicked the pest off the table and drank the red wine on the table not caring if someone else drank on it or not.
"KWAN YOU IDIOT!" Mr. Lee shook Kwan furiously as the other tried to sip the wine and ended up splashing all over the place.
Kwan was ready to give his 'Are-you-kidding-me-old-man face' when Mr. Lee grabbed him by the chin harshly and faced him to the side. He froze when he saw a familiar body build through the opened double doors. As clear as the sun sets on the man and the shadow that was cast upon the pavement, he knew it was Eungoo.
His legs were the first part of his body to function. Each step was wobbly and for split second he was already sprinting. He couldn't scream for his mouth ran dry and his voice got stuck in his throat.
It was a nightmare for Kwan. He watched as Eungoo got in a black colored expensive-looking car and he was running as if he was set in slow motion. Yes, this was a nightmare but he chose to chase after Eungoo, nonetheless. He screamed loudly first and ran faster.
"EUNGOO!!!" He yelled. "EUNGOOOOOO!!!" His heart sank further but he was only determined to run after it more.
The window was rolled down as soon as it came to Kwan's vision. He had somehow leveled his speed with the car's. Eungoo was so shocked that the only thing that processed in his mind was to hold his hyung's hands.
Yejun saw this and quickly pulled down his compartment and pulled out his gorgeous golden 44 Magnum and aimed it at Kwan's face.
"NO!!" Eungoo yelled and grabbed the gun causing Yejun to pull the trigger by accident. As result, the bullet grazed on Kwan's skin on the cheek that was super close to his eye. He then fell off to the side when Eungoo let go. Kwan wasn't able to maintain the speed and tumbled down the side of the road.
"ARE YOU CRAZY?!" Eungoo yelled at the top of his lungs as he looked like he was about to punch Yejun.
Yejun calmly pointed the gun at Eungoo's head which made the younger shut up. "Close the goddamn window!" His pet obeyed and did so.
"Who the fuck was that?" He continued, not giving any sign of removing the gun that was drilling on his temples.
"My hyung!" Eungoo's voice trembled but he tried to mask it by sounding firm… ish.
"Min Kwan?" Yejun asked in disbelief as he was still surprised that the guy was still standing especially when he just gave him a hard time last week to him and his gang.
Eungoo trembled further in his seat and went to grab his Ryan plushie and hugged it closer. He was suddenly scared for his hyung. His master had no remorse and was ready to kill a man… a man that he has treasured and had practically raised him… This was Park Yejun.
"Please don't hurt him." He finally begged as he then began to let out his tears that he had been holding in.
As much as it pleased Yejun to see Eungoo cry, there was something off about it. He didn't like it. "That depends on your behavior. Remember your place, Eungoo, and who you belong to."
Eungoo nodded and Yejun pulled his hand away and was still holding his gun as he drove back home. He needed to find a way to get rid of Min Kwan before Eungoo begins to intervene too much.
Meanwhile, Kwan slowly crawled to the sidewalk and pulled out his phone, and dialed the number of the nearby police station. He held on to Eungoo his eyes caught a glimpse of the collar on his best friend's neck and the name that was in gold Hangul characters that says "Park Yejun."
Soooo? How was your Christmas? Mine was somewhat unexpected but GREAT! I hope that yours was great as well! I hoped you enjoyed the chapter as well as the few days of 2020. Until next time!
