Hazel was fast asleep while Dune paced the small room, restless with anxiety. "Something's wrong… Night will fall soon, and the ocean with it, we don't have enough fragments.
And Agnes, can she be trusted? Why would she even give us fragments? She must know that we lied. If she wants to protect the village, best way would be to sacrifice us to the ocean instead of making her people fight us."
Dune glanced at Hazel, feeling a protective surge. He approached her quietly and gently shook her awake.
"Wake up," he whispered urgently. "We gotta go."
Hazel, though puzzled, quickly tied her hair and followed Dune outside. They moved stealthily through the dark village, the encroaching night making their hearts race faster.
"Damn it, where should we go?" Dune muttered, his eyes scanning for any potential escape route.
