Use your gift!

I instantly hid in the bushes and blew the lights off of my lamp, hoping it did not see me. What I just saw sent my pulse racing.

What the hell was that?! Did I just see a huge, horrifying Elephant with a body of a snake?!

What is that creature? I never in my life have seen an animal like that.

More rustling came from its direction, It sounded as if it were slashing through the grass with its snake body.

It's moving! Holy mother nature!

Should I just stay here or should I move now? I'm here for Mr. Edwards, not for some strange-looking elephant, goddammit!

As I heard the rustle moving in my direction, I came up with a plan to carefully walk with my knees away from it; hoping it won't hear me. I made the decision to leave my luggage as it wasn't benefiting me and was rather making me go even slower.

Everything was going according to plan until my stupid hand stepped on a thin tree branch creating a noise.

"KSSSSS!"

I got up to see if it noticed me, but when I saw that it was already looking in my direction, it nearly gave me a heart attack.

"Run!" a voice in my mind said, before I can even process it, my body started running on its own.

Who was that because it was definitely not me even though it was a woman's voice. I kept on thinking whose voice was that, and my body! IT'S MOVING ON ITS OWN

"Shut up and focus!"

"What the- Who are you?" I whispered to myself, keeping my voice low. Am I dreaming right now or I am just losing my sanity?

"That isn't important right now, we need to kill the Grootslang before it kills us!'" the voice said.

"What is a Grootslang?" I asked as I turn my head around to see if the thing is still following me. It's still following me!

"Don't look back, moron; be attentive to where you are running. The creature that is chasing you and ready to devour you is known as a Grootslang."  I nodded to what the voice in my mind said.

So that's why this forest is called the Groostslang forest. Does my father know about this? And Mr. Amado! He said that this forest isn't my ordinary forest so he knew?!

OH MY! The deception! The betrayal!

"Of course, they are aware; that is why they have come to watch you."

"What are you talking about? This is confusing me."

"Don't bombard me with questions right now. We need to kill the Grootslang so we can finally escape this forest. You can't die, not now."

I grabbed the bow from my back, "We can use this," I stated, showing it to myself.

God, I look stupid showing this to myself!

"A mere arrow won't damage a Grootslang, use your gift."  the voice ordered, but I shake my head.

"I can't, I haven't used my gift. I don't know how to use it." I grumbled as I pulled one of my arrows from my back.

My body began to run towards the hills, the Grootslang was getting closer, I need to do something. I tried to attack the Grootslang by stopping my body from running and shooting it with my bow and arrow, but I missed.

Oh shit!

As soon as I noticed the Grootslang getting enraged at my attempt to harm it, I started running as quickly as I could again.

I yelled as I ran, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that! Don't eat me, I'm not worth it!"

"You're so lame"

"Oh shut up!"

"Try your best to aim for Grootslang's mouth when it opens as soon as we reach the top of the hill."

My brow wrinkled, "But you said that a mere arrow won't damage it."

The twigs pierced my light brown dress, tearing some of it, but I didn't care I need to run faster.

"That's right, that's why we will force to release your gift. The first element you can use in your gift is Ice, and the rest will follow. Freezing the Grootslang's inside using ice element will kill it."

"Oh wow, I didn't know that. Ok, let's do it!" I laugh at the excitement I am suddenly feeling.

"Ugh," the voice in my mind groaned.

I bet she's rolling her eyes at me if I can only see her.

"Prepare for an attack," I pulled out another arrow from my back and connected the bowstring with the end of it.

My right hand suddenly became cold, and when I glanced at it, it seemed to be emitting white air. The moment I touched the arrow, ice began to cover it.

My eyes all widen as I watch the ice cover the arrow, this is...amazing!

"Attack it now!"

I stopped running and lifted the bow holding the ice arrow. I carefully targeted the Grootslang on its mouth as it approached me, and as soon as its mouth opened, I released the arrow.

It landed on the Grootslang's neck rather than the mouth, better than missing the entire shot, in this case.

"Are you blind or just plain dimwitted? That was such a great opportunity to get rid of it, but you wasted it."

"I know ok? You don't need to point that out, you grumpy thing; I saw how I missed it." I said, feeling anxious.

"KSKSHSSSSSS!"  The Grootslang groaned and its eyes grew wider as it removed the arrow I had shot at its neck using its nose.

"Oh oh..." I slowly stepped back when it successfully removed the arrow.

When it ran towards us, I was about to run, but it hit me with its snake body, causing me to roll down the hill. I only stopped rolling down when my back landed hard on a tree, making me groan in pain.

"Ugh, bloody hell..." I groaned as I slowly move my body to stand up. "I think I just had a concussion. " I said, my vision is blurry.

Just as I was about to stand up, Grootslang's tail swung at me again, but fortunately, I was able to dodge it. I hurriedly hid behind the tree, but the Grootslang's tail slashed through it so I ran away from it.

The bow in my hand snapped when I tumbled to the ground. Oh crap, what am I going to do now?

"Relax, you still have your me and your gift."
