Attack In Aysgrath

As we reached the heart of our village, the full extent of the devastation unfolded before us, shattering any semblance of normalcy. The once-thriving streets were now a charred and twisted maze, with buildings reduced to smoldering ruins. The crackling flames danced wildly, casting grotesque shadows that seemed to mock the life they had consumed.

But it was the sight of the lifeless bodies strewn across the scorched earth that made my stomach churn. The life drained from their eyes, their limbs contorted in unnatural angles, bearing witness to the unfathomable tragedy that had befallen our village. I struggled to maintain my composure, my legs growing weak beneath me.

Glendale, usually a pillar of strength, crumbled beside me, her body sinking to her knees. Her hands trembled, reaching out to touch the ground as if seeking some anchor in this nightmare. The emotions etched on her face were a reflection of my own inner turmoil — fear, sadness, and confusion blending together in a tangled mess.

I reached out a trembling hand to comfort her, offering a silent solace amidst the chaos. But the truth remained: there were no words, no gestures that could assuage the depth of despair we felt. Our village, once a haven of warmth and community, now lay ravaged and desolate.

"Glendale, we need to come back home and find our parents," I said, calming my emotions as I helped her stand up by holding her two arms.

She looked at me, crying. "I-I can't do this alone, Nyra. I-I'm scared," she said while shaking her head.

I wipe her tears and hugged her, "I-I know you're terrified, as am I, but we have to return home and find our parents." I said, calming her down.

She wiped her own tears and nodded at me, "Let's meet by the lake if we did or did not find them. Nyra, please keep yourself safe." she said while holding both of my hands.

Before we decided to part ways, I tried to smile at her and say, "I will, keep yourself safe as well."

Despite my fear because of what I was seeing, I kept moving towards the location of our house.

A numbness washed over me as I stood before the remnants of our humble abode. The walls that once held our cherished memories now stood as charred skeletons, barely recognizable amidst the destruction. The fire had consumed everything we held dear, leaving behind only ashes and a haunting emptiness.

The weight of loss pressed heavily on my chest, threatening to suffocate me. It felt as if a piece of my very being had been consumed by the flames, leaving me hollow and broken. Tears welled up in my eyes, blurring the devastation before me, as I struggled to comprehend the magnitude of the tragedy that had befallen our village.

My chest tightened and I was struggling to breathe. "M-mother...F-father, where are..." I tried to talk despite the fact that I was out of breath.

Even though my legs were shaking I still forced myself to enter our home to search for my parents. Our home had almost nothing recognizable left after the fire. Although there were still little fires burning inside our home, I ignored them and focused on searching for my parents.

I paused after stepping on something, bent down to examine it, and picked it up. I covered my mouth when I realized it was my mother's necklace, which she had been wearing this morning.

My eyes welled up with tears, "N-no..." shaking my head desperately, "MOTHER! FATHER!" I screamed at the top of my lungs as I walked further inside our home.

"I'm home, PLEASE DO NOT HIDE FROM ME!" I screamed, my vision blurred by tears.

I waited...but I received no response from my parents. This can't be, I must be dreaming. I am only dreaming...

I smiled and stopped myself from crying, "This must be really a drea- no, this is a nightmare. I should wake up," I said and began slapping myself, but I didn't wake me up from my bed; I'm still in our burned-out house, alone and miserable.

I kept slapping and hurting myself, but as nothing was changing, I slowly fell to my knees and broke down in tears again.

"Mother... please, I'm b-begging you, do not hide from me. F-father, I'm home, come out and comfort your helpless daughter. I-I'm scared..." As I talked, my voice keeps cracking as I wished this was all a horrible joke.

As I wiped away my tears and regained my composure, the sound of rustling reached my ears, jolting me back to reality. A flicker of hope ignited within me, urging me to investigate the source of the sound. With cautious steps, I followed the rustling, my heart pounding with anticipation.

Those must be my parents!

"Mother? Where are you? Fathe-" I was unable to complete what I was about to say when I noticed three men in black discussing.

I hid in the big tree in front of me and eavesdrop on their conversation, hoping they won't caught me.

"We have burned down the whole village but we still could not find the girl." distress is evident in the man's voice.

"The King will kill us if we go back to him with no one in our hands!" The other exclaimed as he yanked his long black hair.

A girl? They set our village on fire to kidnap one girl?! This is ridiculous! Suddenly I felt a strange energy forming in my body. I am furious- no, furious is an understatement.

I feel like I am about to explode any time soon.

It only stopped when one of their companions spoke, "We should search the whole village for one last time, and whomever girl we encounter... we will take her." They vanished like bubbles after he spoke.

What just happened?!

"I saw the wizards, Anna!"

I remember what the elderly woman said yesterday, Wizards. Did I just encounter a wizards?! And they burned down our village just to find a one gir- Glendale.

Oh my Lord, Glendale!

I began running towards Glendale's house; I needed to get her out of there. My mind kept replaying the wizard guy's words.

"whomever girl we encounter... we will take her."

Oh Lord, keep Glendale safe. Not, Glendale

Glendale's house is far away from ours that's why I tried to run as fast as I could, just so I can get Glendale before those wizards get her.

Even though I'm tired and having a hard time breathing due to the smoke around us, I did not stop. I kept on as memories of my family and Glendale started to play in my head.

"My sweet Nyra, you are our daughter, always remember that."

"We love you, Nyra. You are our best decision, remember that."

"But that was my happiest day, Nyra. Because that was the day I met the best woman anyone could ask for. How lucky am I, right?"

I cried remembering them, I am terrified by all of this. Tears streamed down my face once again as the weight of the devastation and loss settled upon me. The contrast between what was supposed to be the happiest day of my life and the reality I now faced was overwhelming. The pain of the tragedy pierced through my heart, and I longed for it all to be nothing more than a dreadful nightmare.

My eyes widen when I saw the three wizards dragging Glendale, three houses away from me.

I was about to run towards them and shout when someone covered my mouth and drag me into a huge tree.

"Hmmmm! Hmmm!" I was kicking the person and everything just so it would let me go.

"Quite down, Your Highness..."
