Chapter 161

Atifa's pov:

"You are here!" Ammi exclaimed happily once we entered her room, this time Amira wheeling me in.

"Assalamualaikum ammi. Yes, I told you we would come back, didn't I?" Passing her a full blown smile, I replied.

"Waalaikumussalam. Yes, and I was waiting for you." Smiling excitedly, she replied, and as her gaze flickered over to Amira, she greeted her. "Assalamualaikum Amira."

Waiting for Amira to reply, I looked back, only to find her lost in her own thoughts while looking down. "Mira?" Confused, I called out to her.

"Y- yeah. Assalamualaikum ammi." Looking up at me, she blinked her eyes before stuttering out.

"Waalaikumussalam. How are you?" Smiling warmly, ammi replied.

"Alhamdulillah, better than how I used to be." She replied bitterly while looking away from her.

"Amira." Hearing her reply, I warned while giving her a stern look, upset about her witty response.

"I didn't lie." She muttered in annoyance before looking away from me too.
