Chapter 30

While Lou made thick burgers, topped with melted cheese, Wayne put together a salad, then set the table. He was just about to let Rae know lunch was ready when she appeared.

“He’s a cutie,” she said, showing them a photo of Matt Nardi.

“That was taken, probably, twenty years ago,” Lou pointed out. “He was right around my age, which puts him at forty-five or forty-six, now. A bit too old for you.”

“Pop. Damn. It was just a comment. Believe me, the last man I’d be interested in would be one of Regotti’s punks.”

Wayne waited until they were all seated before asking her, “What did you find out about him?”

“During the time Regotti was in jail, Matt apparently worked for another of Grimaldi’s people. That stopped as soon as Regotti got out, and now Matt’s back to running drugs for him. At least according to the arrest report I found.”

“It must be a fairly recent one. Regotti’s only been out for two months, give or take a week.”
