“And I’m going to like having you here,” he called back.

“I know,” she hollered. “Because of Dad.”

Lou quickly went after her, stopping at the doorway to her room. “Partly because of him but also because…” He paused, not sure how to put it.

Rae came over and looked up at him. “Because I’m me and everyone likes me.”

There was a soft snort from behind them, then Wayne said. “Stop bragging, Rae.”

“Well it’s true, mostly. Ronda didn’t, but she didn’t like anyone. Dad, when will my computer get here?”

“That was a quick change of subject, and you know the answer. Tomorrow with the rest of our things.”

“Good.”

Wayne took her hand. “But you have to remember the rules.”

“Yeah, I know. No chatting with my friends, no emails, no…nothing.” She looked sad for a moment, then perked up. “But I’ll have new friends soon.”

“You bet. Now finish unpacking. I’ll bring you the stuff you have in my bag.”

“Then you better go unpack, too.”
