"No, thank you." Charlotte shook her head firmly. "The bus will be here soon."
Ethan, his expression unmoved, replied, "I insist. Get in."
His tone left no room for argument, and Charlotte hesitated before forcing a polite smile.
"If you insist sir…" She stepped into the car and closed the door. Ethan rolled up the window as she settled into the seat beside him and drove off.
The car was filled with silence except for the soft hum of the engine. Ethan broke it only once to ask about her destination.
Charlotte gave him the address, and he entered it into the navigation system without another word. After a thirty-minute drive, they arrived in front of Charlotte's apartment building.
"Thank you for the ride sir," she said, bowing slightly as she reached for the door handle. To her surprise, Ethan instantly locked it.
