James was sure that Kara had fallen asleep, so he came to the ward.
Noticing that her brows were knitted and her forehead was covered in sweat, he figured that she must have had a nightmare. He took out a handkerchief to wipe away the sweat, but his hand was suddenly held by her.
He felt his body stiffen and rooted on the ground. Then he saw Kara slowly open her amber eyes at him which flickered with some confusion.
Suddenly, she threw away his hand, propped up her arm, and sat back, covering her eyes with both hands.
"Kara."
Watching her cowering away, James frowned and wanted to hug her, but he feared that it would hurt her.
"I don't want to see you, and I don't want to hear your explanation."
Her voice was feeble and shaky, filled with fear.
"Kara, I did say those things, and I won't lie about it. But, Kara..."
"Get lost!"
Kara roared as she threw the pillow at him and then the quilt.
