Chapter 25: Drift

" Are you going to keep standing there?" Her mother asked

" Sorry mother, she responded as she leaves to get something to clean up the broken glass. She was disrupted by the sudden phone call from Lava

" Did you see the news?" Lava asked as soon as Oma had picked the call

" Yes, I did..."

" That means Erica escaped" he quickly answered without letting Oma finish her statement

" It isn't Erica, I think it's another one" Oma told him

" What?" Lava asked

" Yes, Erica can't get out without her talisman; have you forgotten?" She asked him

" I guess I have so much missed her" Lava said gently

" You don't have to worry now, one of her own is here to get her" Oma told him

" I don't know, it just doesn't feel right" Lava said silently

" You feel that too?" Oma asked silently...

" What if she is alone and needs help?" the both of them questioned in unison

They both signed cracking up a smile

" You like Erica" he told her

" I care about Erica" she responded

" You are also in danger you know... Erica's life here revolved around you; you know her better than anyone here so don't be surprised if you feel like you are been watched" Lava told her

" That's true, why haven't I thought of that" Oma said.

The sirens hailed the queen at her victory, she had proven her strength once again to her people

" Don't let your guard down mother, it's just a matter of time" she told her

" I won't, at least you have proven not to be weak like your father" she told her

"My father is not weak, he stood for what he believed in. I will choose peace over treachery" The princess told her

" There is no peace without a fight" her mother said to her

" That's your own believe mother, there can be peace without a fight. We are already at peace and now three of our kind are on land probably creating chaos right now; it won't be long before the humans come looking for us because of your ignorance, I guess you are not even bothered about it" The princess told her.

One of the Merguard swims in interrupting their conversation

" Your Majesty, your highness" he called out bowing to them

" What is it this time?" The queen asked

" During our parole at the sea, we found three dead bodies at the sea" he told her

" Dead human bodies?" The queen asked

" No your Majesty, they are sirens" he responded

" What? It's hard for a siren to die at the sea" the Princess said

" They were bitten to death by piranhas" he told them

" Piranhas? It's impossible for piranhas to come into this side of the sea" The queen said

"Exactly what I thought your Majesty, someone must have planted it's egg around the sea, piranhas come very far from the north part of the sea and Oceania is the closest to it" the guard said

" Oceania" The queen said angrily

" If this is true, then every siren here is at risk" the Princess said.

The Underground laboratory...

" You are getting weak" The young scientist said to Erica at their hidden place

" I am not" Erica said trying to hide the fact that she was already losing herself

" I am a doctor, I know that; you haven't been inside the water for two days now, your scales are getting darker" she told her

" I said I am not sick nor weak, let's move ahead with the plan" Erica said weakly

" You have to listen to me, judging by your temperature; you won't last for 24hours if you don't enter into the water, it will be difficult for you and I to leave this place" she told her

" So, what do you suggest I do?" She asked her

" Do you have anyone I could contact? Anyone who knows about you?" She asked Erica

Erica was quiet for some minutes when she had thought of Oma and Lava

" No, I don't want to involve them; it's dangerous" She told her "They don't even know I am this" she said almost emotional

"If they love you, they would find a way, that's if you agree to my plan" she told her

" What is your plan?" She asked her

" We don't have much time, even if you leave here right now; we will still have to find a way to leave the outside underground and a way to get you into the sea without anyone seeing you so I would suggest you let them find you here" she told her

" What?" Erica asked weakling trying to understand her

" The camera is turned off, they won't notice if I am gone because they would focus their attention on you when they find you, by that time; I would have informed your close ones here. You just have to trust me" she told her

" Why would I trust you? You are a scientist and has nothing to lose" she said to her

" I do now, my life; they are going to find out what I did and they will probably shoot me dead" she told Erica

Erica gestured at her to come closer

" I hope you won't bite off my ears?" the young lady asked coming closer to her

" Thank you" she said to her before whispering another thing to her ears.

" See you again and by the way, my name is Imelda" she told her with a smile, with that she left to create awareness so that they could find Erica there and put her back into the fish tank and save her from dying out there.

Outside Mr. Hansel mansion...

Vashi stood outside looking at Mr. Hansel's mansion, she had found the building following Mr. Hansel secretly why having Mr. Charles men as her back up.

" Wait a little longer child, I will find you" she said
