CHAPTER 16

Crystal's POV

Walking briskly within the premises of D's corporation, I headed towards my office. Due to the hastiness, I bumped into Rachel one of the staff in the production department. I guess the only thing popular for me these days is bumping into innocent people daily.

"Oh! I'm so sorry Rachel I wasn't focused" I lamented.

"No problem. I understand that you are higher in position than we all so being prideful isn't a crime actually but if I may ask, what made you be in such a hurry?" She grimaced.

"Well, I'm sorry about my action earlier. It isn't what you are thinking. I have some unfinished work in the office which the boss may need right away so you see, I have to hurry" I said quickly, running off.

I wonder why she spoke so rudely to me. I haven't even had a real conversation with her before. I guess this position is attracting me a lot to me.

Stepping into the office, I found my boss moving to and fro looking all worked up and frustrated.

I moved further quietly as I bowed down a little to tender my greetings before him.

"Good morning boss" I greeted, startling him in the process.

"Oh, Miss Crystal!" He replied still recovering from the shock.

"I'm so sorry if I startled you" I apologized.

"There's no need for that besides I should be the one apologizing concerning yesterday's occurrence at the party." He replied.

" I made it out thanks to you," I said, settling down to begin the business for that day as he made his way to his desk.

Damien's POV

It's been eight hours now and there has been no news from my boys about Jenny's whereabouts. Being frustrated, I decided to have some fun with my PA to ease my quavering mind though I doubted her participation.

"So tell me, Crystal, do you have to be serious all the time?" I asked from my end, rising to find my way to her occupied desk.
I sometimes do pity her because she always has a lot to do, encounters to face just like the previous night, and more confrontations. After apologizing to her concerning the previous night, I decided to get a personal bodyguard for her.

"Yes, boss besides I would be paid for this." She responded, gazing at my figure standing in front of her desk with her brown eyes holding anxiety in them.

"Well, I think we should talk for now. So pack up let's merry" I told her as I made my way to my private bar to fetch a sweet wine for the both of us.

"But sir...."

"No buts please just play along for once" I interrupted her speech sternly.

I made my way to my private chambers as I ordered her to follow which she did hesitantly. I must commend her annoying attitude because it's not just my thing.

As I entered my chambers, I placed the wine on a small table with the cups I told her to carry along. I sat down on one settee as I offered her the other.
I stared at her for a while before tending to the wine in my hand.

"So tell me more about yourself," I asked, noticing the anxiety her eyes suddenly held.

"I'm sorry boss but I can't besides none of my information benefits you in any way" She replied apparently.

"Well, I think I'm loving this attitude of yours" I praised knowing fully well that other females would have taken the opportunity to spill lies and give all impressive talks.

"Now tell me something. Do you have siblings and a father?" I asked the popular question I do ask anyone under me.

"I have a sibling and mother" She responded.

"Wow!" I exclaimed.

"Why did you ask?" She asked, staring at me suspiciously.

"Nothing. I just wanted to know" I responded lazily.

"I feel you are not honest with me" She replied.

"Well, I do wish I had a full family. A father, mother, and siblings"

"So you don't have any?" She asked, raising her brows in surprise.

"No I do but only a mother" I answered, staring at her relaxed expression now.

Crystal's POV

I've been so overwhelmed by my boss' actions today. First, he looked worried and frustrated when I came in the morning but after a few hours, he sounded so jovial and all funny which left me wondering if he was the same person who always seemed feisty.

I never knew he does laugh and crack jokes like the ones he is doing right now. I have been smiling, laughing, and blushing all along., Jessica needs to hear this.

"I almost stumbled on her food as I was running all around the hallway" He exclaimed chuckling.

"Your mum must have been on swearing edges when you were still little" I informed, smiling.

"Yeah, Crystal. She told me so herself"

"So why were you all bothered in the morning?" I asked as his facial expression suddenly changed.

"I am looking for Jenny. The lady I picked up from that party alongside you" He revealed.
