Twilight in Obsidian

“Please take me with you,” the woman whispered. Her voice was dry and hoarse, her body trembled like a leaf on an unsettled wave. Was it because of the crime she had just committed, or was it because of the aura the man before her gave off? She must be sick, both in and out of the head. Everything in her said not to ask for help, or at least not to ask him for help, nevertheless, here she was bowing her head down before him. “Now, why would I do that?” His dark, airy voice filled her ears. His voice sent shivers down her spine, making her freeze in her spot. Her head sank to the floor, unmoving. “I do anything from cleaning to washing, and cooking,” she said, muttering her words, timidly. The man hunched down to her size and uttered, his breath tickling her neck. “Have you met me before?” “No, but I can—” She began to say, as if he were contemplating her request but was quickly interrupted. “Don't be so quick to sell yourself to death.” Passing through her, he left her to crumble on the ground. °∆° "Did you think I would let you go after I found you? Do you know how long I have waited for this moment?” His voice deepened with each word that fell off his lips. The woman stepped back, not wanting to get close to this terrifying man. “I am being truthful, Your Highness. I don't know you, Your Majesty, our families haven't met for any reason. So please let me go,” she whispered. Her body touched the wall. Now she was stuck between the wall and the terrifying man. “Please, My Lord, I don't know what you are talking about,” She whimpered. He placed his strong hands on her hip, giving it a light squeeze as he pulled her closer to his chest. He whispered into her ears, “I missed you so much, it's been a long while, My love” He placed his head on hers °∆° R18 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOOK COVER ISN'T MINE, IT WAS FOUND AND REDESIGNED BY ME. ~Chapter 21~

Astus, the supreme ruler of all Alverton Summit, leaned forward, his eyes like swirling tempests, "My brothers and Sisters," he began, his voice a discordant symphony, "We need to address the matter at hand. The JINX of incomparable AGONY has been unleashed upon the realms of mortals."

Lliara, the goddess of nature and life, nodded in agreement. Her form seemed to waver in and out of existence as she spoke. "Indeed Astus. But the question that plagues us is this: Is the one who released the curse more dangerous than Jinx itself?"

Ylrena, the goddess of wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, stroked her dove bird that sat on the staff she held. "It is a question that vexes us all. To assess the danger, we must first understand the origin and purpose of this curse".

"Even after all it took to seal that damned thing, Who in their right mind would release it?" Maelok, the god of war, battles, and chaos screeched, slamming his heavy fist on the table and spilling off some wine.

"Getting angry will not solve anything" Enlo, God of Messages, boundaries, and thieves stated in annoyance, the spilled wine had stained some parts of his clothes.

"I apologize, but this is an important matter, that needs to be discussed."

"In case you haven't noticed, that is what we are currently doing," Ylrena replied the very intense god. Maelok grumbled under his breath before he sat down and composed himself.

"Does anyone know where Diysus, Sephtis, and Bunasis are?" Astus inquired from them.

Zuros the God of Smithery and trickery responded "I am not sure about Sephtis, but Bunasis said she was heading to Aqualithia to meet with Diysus"

"Why? Is something wrong with Diysus?" Aldall the God of seasons asked with concern in his voice. Aldall was a very close and personal friend of Diysus. So it was no surprise that he was worried about him.

Zuros rolled his shoulder, "I don't know, You know Bunasis's job requires privacy. There is no way I would know" his response almost sounded like Aldall was stupid to ask him for the reason for her visit.

"So, no word of Sephtis?"

Silence engulfed the room as the gods looked around, waiting for either of them to give information about their fellow gods. But it seems as though none of them has heard word of them since they last met in one of Qhuemis numerous parties.

Also, it wasn't like Sephtis himself would take time out of his day to attend every of the God of Music, Wine, pleasure, and festivity parties.

The gods judged each other based on their roles or powers. Maelok was the God of war, battles, and chaos, he was known to be aggressive, brutal, and very hot-headed. Arguing with him was like telling a wall to move.

Eraura is the Goddess of hunt and wilderness. Nonetheless, it wasn't weird for her to always live in the forest and enjoy the forest life. Even at the very moment, her forest-green eyes brighten with anticipation to back to the wilderness and just hunt.

Therefore, this was very much said about Sephtis, as he was the ruler of the underworld. Both good and bad. There were set periods during the year that the negative effect of Daemarral greatly after him.

It was so bad that most immortals would rather not come over to Daemarral. During this negative effect period, Sephtis would also make sure the people working for him weren't always present.

So, it wasn't a shocker that the deities didn't know where he was.

"We can't continue without them" Astus sighed his frustration.

"And why not?" Maelok demanded.

Rubbing his temple, the golden-haired ruler reminded, "Diysus and Sephtis also have more information about the Jinx than I do"

"And I also don't want to have to repeat myself all over because of them"

"So we wait?" Lillitha the Goddess of fertility, childbirth, and family asked.

"We don't have much of a choice" Astus replied. But before anyone other than God could complain about the outcome, the entrance door threw opened, presenting Diysus and Bunasis.

"Oh, they are here!" Maelok informed.

"Half of them" Kenlir replied sarcastically.

Bunasis rolled her eyes at Kenlir's statement before turning her attention to the rest.

"Something important has just happened" she began.

"Yes we know, Jinx of Agony has been released, that is the main why we are all here" Enlo stated.

"No!" she suddenly shouted, shocking the deities. "I mean sigh, I don't know how to weigh all the problems"

"All the problems?" Utthos the God of Justice, Mercy, and Chivalry queried, he soon sat up, already seeing the urgency in the tone of her voice.

"Yes, all the problems" She repeated. The sudden pain in her arm shocked her as she turned toward its direction.

Diysus had gripped her arm painfully to silence her. His eyes sternly but silently warned her that if she spoke more of it, he would not appreciate it.

This action didn't go unnoticed by the other gods.

"Diysus let her say her peace"

"No!, Not when it involves my private matter!!" his voice bellowed all over the room.

"Your personal matter?!! Your private matter!!" Bunasis asked twice as she aggressively shoved him from herself.

"Yes, my personal matter, and you will say nothing about it to anyone"

"IT STOPPED BEING YOUR PRIVATE MATTER WHEN IT BEGAN TO AFFECT THE ENTIRE IMMORTAL REALM!!"

Once the words fell out of her mouth, the room became deadly silent. As, tho, it became a crime to ask for more information.

It was a shock to the gods to see Bunasis this peeved, or better yet, to see her raise her voice. The goddess of sleep and dream interpretation was known to be so serene and soft-spoken.

But now she was like her brother Zahohr, the God of Nightmare.

"What is the situation that affects all the Alverton Summit?" Astus asked, breaking the eerie silence.

His simple question was left without answer, which also angered him, "WHAT IS THE PROBLEM THAT AFFECT THE ENTIRE ALVERTON SUMMIT!!!!" He hollered hard and violently at the two, to the power the air shook, and monstrous thunder should be heard.

Giving Diysus a final look, she walked past him and began speaking, "Did anyone know that Diysus had a mate?"

Once again, her question was met with utter silence.

"What do you mean by Astus had a mate?" Sephtis voice rang through. They all looked back and towards the window to see him come down from the Cerberus, with Oona and Hobris walking beside him.

"He finally decided to show up" Maelok taunted annoyingly. But he was just ignored by Sephtis who did not want to give him a time of his day.

"You are late"

"Yeah, I realized that"

"You don't know how important this meeting is, don't you?"

"Look, I went to get the seers, ok?!" The dark god responded, clearly not wanting to drag the information anymore.

He turned back to Bunasis, "What do you mean by Diysus had a mate?" wanting to be sure he heard correctly when he came in.

"Exactly what I mean, Our Diysus here had a mate"

"But that's not possible, the only person that has had a mate among us was-"

"Complete those words, and you will know how it feels to be struck down by lightning" Astus spoke quietly. His voice was dangerously low. His tone didn't sound like he was joking around. He really would shoot her with his lighting bolts if she continued.

Sylara folded her lips as she kept her remaining words in her mouth. She wasn't going to find out if he meant it or not.

"How do we believe his words" Qhuemis spoke up, wiping the leftover wine that dripped down his lips.

"I wouldn't have gone there if it was a fake Qhuemis" Bunasis pointed out.

"But I don't remember Diysus having a mate" Denira the Goddess of Harvest, Crop, Soil spoke lightly.

"That is what I am saying. Nobody here knows about it, or a correct word would be nobody remembers that he had a mate".

Immediately, everyone flared up. Powers and spells began leaking around. If a lesser or an unfortunate human had been inside the room, they would have immediately died.

Even the Demi-gods that were situated at the entrance as guards felt the sudden change in atmosphere as it continuously became so hard for them to breathe.

There was continuous gnashing of teeth till, Astus spoke up, "Do you know what you are saying right now? Bunasis".

"That is exactly right, Astus. The ENTIRE immortal realm, lesser gods, Demi-gods, and us, the higher gods, have forgotten about Diysus mate".

"You also didn't remember?" Sylara asked with concern, she didn't like this revelation one bit.

"He had just found this out through his dream memory"

"When did you lose your mate?"

"During the S.A.D, six hundred years of war" He muttered.

And there was Silence in the room.
