Doppelgangers Unearthed

So in the show we know some information about doppelgangers.

I have divided it into sections and at last we will state a way to solidify a theory of doppelgangers.

Reasons of creation:

As we know Doppelgangers were created be nature as a proxy to die instead of the immortals namely Silas and Amara who became immortals by the immortality spell created by Qetsiyah.

Questions about them that I encountered:

1. Descendants of doppelgangers become doppelgangers?

2. The two doppelgangers were meant to be for each other right?

3. The no of doppelgangers or Missing doppelgangers.

4. Irregular appearances like if doppelgangers are supposed to appear about 500 years interval how is Tom Avery was born less then 200 years of interval?

Theories and answers I formulated:

1.Descendants of doppelgangers become doppelgangers?

This raises so many questions about how do you consider the bloodline Doppelganger's appear in for example:

Of all the doppelgangers of Amara we know of is the oldest is Tatia a Thousand years ago so, if we consider the theory that doppelgangers are the previous doppelgangers direct descendants from what can be inferred from Katherine and Elena's Relationship.

It works out perfectly , as we know that Tatia indeed had children and was married.

BUT

How does Tom Avery come here as we know Stefan didn't have and children , he did but it died in womb.

And this theory also creates problem with Silas and Amara as they didn't have children they were not married.

New theory :

This theory states that the doppelgangers are not necessarily born from direct descendant's but from the same bloodline like family and Relatives who have the same ancestors and all like cousin second cousin distant relatives etc.

This theory solves many problems also that if only direct descendants were to be considered then Nature would try it's best to actually keep doppelganger's bloodline alive so that it's balance doesn't get fucked for example;

Elena became vampire without children so no more Doppelgangers ever considering Amara still alive so all you had to do from Doppelganger from ever appearing again Is to kill the Doppelganger before she gives birth?

So new Theory makes much more sense Tom Avery was a Distant Relative of Salvatore's or a branch that leads back to Salvatore Family tree of Vice versa.

2. Two Doppelgangers of Amara and Silas were meant to be Soulmates or attracted to each other:

According to lore they were supposed to be attracted towards each other like world bringing them together or something which is true to some extent but that is not solid case with Stefan and Elena they did get attracted but they did not end up together.

So my new theory is a lot better.

New theory:

My new theory states that the Main motive of Nature in creating Doppelgangers is for them to die as a Proxy to Stefan and Amara who are now immortal.

So while they did get attracted to each other this was not the main feature Dying is. Nature never really meant for them to end up together. The attraction is likely a side effect of being created with Silas and Amara as base or Mold.

As Silas and Amara were deeply in love this is reflected in their 'clones' aka Doppelgangers which is a lot weaker as a strong attraction but not set on stone or destiny but can be Overcome.

3.The no and missing doppelgangers:

The doppelgangers we know are very few like shown in series are:

1.Tatia (~1000Ad)

2.Kathrine Pierce/ Katarina Petrova(1473)

3. Elena Gilbert (1992)

4. Stefan Salvatore (1846)

5. Tom Avery (1990s)

Where are their counterparts there should be a doppelganger counterpart for each of them Tatia was married so she can be listed off as her husband might be.

But there is supposed to be a Silas Doppelganger for her timeline.

Elena had Tom.

Stefan should also have a Amara doppelganger around that timeline as Katarina was nearly 400 years ago if we take vampirism out of equation they would not have met each other which includes Stefan and Elena and Elena would have met Tom.

(AUTHOR'S NOTE: This stumped me for days trying to make sense and come up with something rational and I came up with the one below that somewhat makes sense or not I gave up after that.)

5.Appearances of Doppelgangers:

(I hope this theory makes sense I tried to explain the irregular appearances of doppelgangers and in the Fic I will use this theory.)

According to the info we know that Silas, Amara and Qetsityah were from time about 2000 years ago.

But the Oldest of the doppelganger we know as mentioned above is Tatia which is just over a 1000 years and 1000 years after Amara and Silas.

We can see that Doppelgangers are famous and well known by well informed beings which means there were doppelgangers existed in the first 1000 years.

But we don't know any Amara doppelgangers before Tatia and no silas doppelganger before Stefan so I inferred that all Doppelganger come with a curse what I call 'Half-life' by nature which meant they will not live past 20.

All doppelganger either died and vanished in history or used in rituals or became Vampire none escaped death completing their goal of death like Stefan became vampire at 17, Katherine at 19 or so , Tatia died before 20 in Vampirism spell , Elena died and became vampire before 20 too so in conclusion none lived as a 'Human' beyond 20.

The next problem that comes is the Irregular appearances like in point 3 we discussed so they either never existed in that timeline or died early before they became relevant.

But I made a path in between a mix of two of them.

We can see that the Gap between doppelgangers appearances is not exactly 500 years but approximately 500 years or around 500 years maybe a few years before 500 or maybe some years after 500 years but never exactly 500 years.

But you can see that this rule only applies for Amara doppelganger aka Petrova doppelgangers. Where as Silas doppelganger follow a completely different pattern as Time gap between Stefan and Tom is less than 200 years, doesn't make sense does it?

So in my theory the two doppelganger Amara line and Silas line follow two completely different set of pattern and I even found a reason for that which I explained below. The birth of both of the doppelgangers at the same timeline is merely a coincidence which doesn't happen often where both of these overlaps like Elena and Tom and more before them from which people came to conclusion that they get attracted to each other.

So I came up with a table of timeline of two lines and then explain why this happened.

[1990 Tom,1800 Stefan ,1300,1100,600,400 makes sense Silas doppleganger.

1990 Elena, 1400 Katarina , 990 Tatia , 400 unknown makes sense.]

In the above table we can see the appearance timeline and Overlaps that occurred like year 400s and year 1990s where they overlap, in this we can see 400s both doppelgangers present so they could be the start of the lore that two Doppelgangers are meant to be soulmates or Attract each other.

So the two follow different pattern of appearance.

The theory goes as if we go to the source both Silas and Amara are both immortal but if we take the immortality out what makes them different that can affect the pattern and if your guess was that Amara was just a normal human while Silas was a Warlock and a Psychic.

So in this theory nature takes different approach for their doppelagnger.

Since Amara was just a normal mortal she was easy to replicated with a periodic pattern of approximately 500 years gap. This get's complicated as this comes to Silas.

As he was both a Warlock and A Psychic a supernatural being so nature took precaution against him as Doppelganger are made as their clone his doppelganger could be a Psychic or A Warlock which might create another immortal so the nature did is Split his essence into two.

For example total essence is 500 so they get divided into 250 and 250 which just weakens his essence enough for his doppelganger to not awaken any supernatural abilities.

So every 500 years a essence is created for both of them while Amara one gets born the Silas one gets Divided into two one born now another approximately 200 years later than another 500 years later another essence is created and this process is repeated.

Like first doppelganger in 400s both Silas and Amara and the while Amara doppelganger appeared in approximately 500 years interval.

Silas doppelganger however went like 400 then 200 year later 600s and then 500 year later new essence forms in year 1100 and 200 year later in 1300s and again 500 years Stefan in 1800s and then Tom 200 years later.
