I stayed outside the balcony of my room to breathe. For obvious reasons, this was a way to escape. I felt like even though my chambers were far across from where Paris and the duke were, I would hear them. Paris' scream or grunts or maybe his taunting peals of laughter.
"Pst!"
My brows rose as I gazed down, catching Sven waving at me with that annoying grin on his face. My expression remained the same, cold and aloof, watching him stretch his legs. This time, he didn't ask me to move away as he sprung up, landing on the railing of the balcony safely.
"Safe!" he announced while keeping a beef jerky in between his teeth. When he gazed in my direction, I peeled my eyes away from him to look ahead.
"Wow… you're not telling me to leave?"
"Will you even?" I returned without sparing him a look. I had my arms propped against the railing, inhaling the soft gust blowing past me.
