Chapter 22

Regina retrieved her phone from its place on the bed and red the messages. She sighed and looked at the keyboard owing her son an explanation. "I'm sorry I had to cancel dear" she replied and placed the phone back onto the bed beside her, the pillow she was hugging was shocked with her tears.

Henry had gotten his game set up for when Snow got back but knowing David was sleeping he was staying quiet but when he saw a message, he grabbed his phone and read over the message and smiled a bit but then he replied, "are you alright?" He hit send. He knew Snow said she probably just needed rest but Henry was still worried.

Regina frowned a moment reading the text, she couldn't lay it all on him. "I'm okay" she replied and pressed send, her heart breaking a little more as she sent it. She got up and paced a little, why the hell didn't she take rumples offer, it's not like she could have done anymore damage. She screamed in anger at herself and punched the mirror on the wall. She flinched a little as it smashed all around her hand, little pieces and big pieces falling to the floor. She winced and shakily pulled her hand back, her knuckles were deeply cut and blood already running down her hand. She sighed and looked at the broken pieces of glass and just sat down on the edge of the bed, blood dripping onto the carpet slowly.

Henry looked at his phone and studied it since he wanted to asked more questions, knowing something still seemed off but he grabbed his phone to text his adoptive mother. "Do you want to get some breakfast tomorrow?" Henry typed before pressing send.

Regina heard her phone buzz and sighed softly. She picked it up and replied to him. "I'm sorry I don't think I will be well enough" she replied. She then turned her phone on silent and layed back down on the bed, ignoring her hand that was shaking and now bleeding by placing it under the pillow she hugged. She wanted to get some sleep but her body wasn't able to.

Henry looked at his phone and frowned a bit since he was a little disappointed about the message and grabbed his phone but just typed. "Goodnight." And hit send before he sat his phone down. He was a little worried about Regina but also felt upset that he hadn't been able to have tea with her or have breakfast but tried not to think of it since he heard Snow come in but when they were ready, they both say on the couch, playing one of Henry's games. Though Snow didn't do too well with it.

David woke up with a small groan and walked out to the room where he saw Henry and Snow sat on the couch. He crossed his arms and leaned against the door frame. "what are we doing at this time?" He asked softly, almost trying to joke but he wouldn't be surprised if Snow was still upset at him, and he had no idea how much Henry knew about what had happened. He walked over to them and sat on the arm chair of the couch and placed a hand on Snows shoulder rubbing it softly while looking at Henry. "I'm pretty sure it's past your bed time kid or it will be soon" he said keeping an eye on the boy, he didn't seem as cheerful as he usually did.

Snow glanced over hearing David but knew he was trying to joke although she still felt a little upset about the way things went today. But she was glad to know Emma was somewhere safe and would be looked after since she knew her daughter wasn't always as strong as she wanted others to believe. "I promised Henry he could show me how to play one of his games." She said and glanced at the time realizing how it was starting to become late. Although she didn't know if she should tell David she had talked to Emma and Hook.

Henry gave a nod. "I'll go to bed after this round." He said but he was keeping his gaze focused on the tv and his game. But once the game was over, he turned it off and gave snow and David a small smile though it wasn't as cheerful as it usually was. "I'll see you guys in the morning." He said as he got up before he turned and headed to bed.

David nodded a little, he didn't want to be the bad guy who ruined their fun. "Alright" he sat and watched them play the game until the screen was turned off. "Night kid" he said. He turned to Snow and instantly apologised for ruining the mood. He then nodded his head towards Henry's room and turned to Snow. "Hey...what's up with him?" He asked, he didn't know if he knew about the argument or if it was something else entirely going on, he was tempted to go up now but if Henry was upset with him then he didn't want to push his luck.

Snow watched Henry before she shook her head. "You didn't ruin the mood." She told David but hearing him ask about Henry she gave a small sigh. "I wouldn't blame him if he wasn't. He knows about what happened today, not all of it and he didn't like seeing his mom that way. And him and Regina were supposed to have met up earlier but she had to reschedule and I think it just upset him." She explained

David nodded a little and sighed as he stood up. "Well she shouldn't be dating the pirate. None of this would have happened otherwise" he shook his head and pressed a kiss to Snows temple. "Are you coming to bed?" He asked her gently rubbing his hand down her arm with a small smile, he knew his actions today were inexcusable to others, justifiable for him but not according to his wife.

Snow gave a tiny frown, having a few words to say to that but she didn't want an argument to happen to wake Henry knowing he was probably asleep as she gave a tiny smile before nodding. "I'm coming to bed." She said as she stood up from the couch. "It's been a long day." She said as she turned to start heading towards the bedroom but then she paused and turned to face him, her voice lowering to not wake Henry. "Earlier, when you were holding that gun.. what were you thinking of doing?" She asked him.

David nodded and stood up, following snow but was surprised and confused when she suddenly stopped walking and turned to face him. He didn't know what he expected her to say but it wasn't that. "What did you think I was thinking?" He asked and walked past her into their bedroom. He wondered where she had hidden the gun. "I was thinking about putting a bullet in Killian" he admitted to after he sat on the edge of the bed.

Snow looked at David hearing what he said and gave a small frown as she walked to the bedroom. "You won't, will you?" She asked. She was worried what her husband would do the next time he saw the pirate and though she knew he'd need his gun later for the station but for now she had hit it in the apartment just so he wouldn't think about doing anything else tonight.

David sighed and looked up at Snow. "Not tonight" he said, he was past his initial anger with David but he was still very very unhappy about the situation. "Come. Go to sleep" he said softly and sighed. "we'll have to see if we can cheer up Henry tomorrow or go and see why Regina cancelled" he said as he laid down on his back, head resting on the pillow, he wasn't overly happy with the former queen either for that, he knew henry had been looking forward to it.

Snow nodded some as she walked over to the bed and changed into pajamas before she got into bed and looked over at him. "What would happen the next time you see him?" She asked, she didn't want him to hurt Killian since she knew how it would hurt their daughter. She hesitated slightly before she spoke, "I did go talk to them. While you were asleep." She said. "It was mostly just to check on Emma." She added as she got under the covers but nodded, "maybe sticking with the Operation will cheer him up. You know how he always gets happy around doing those." She said

David sighed a little and shook his head. "I honestly don't know... it's one of them things...you don't know what's going to happen until they're in front of you" he didn't actually want to upset Emma again, he didn't like shouting at her, or her shouting at him but there wasn't much that he could do about it now. "If you want to see them, then that's fine. I can't. Not yet" Snow was her own person, his wife and he could make her own decisions. "I'll go with Henry tomorrow to the station if I can get him to tag along, maybe somebody else has had visions" he said slightly cursing Regina because she had disappointed him. "What was Regina's problem anyway today?" He said, he didn't even know why Regina had come with them, after all it was a family matter.

Snow nodded hearing what he said and looked at her husband, just studying him a few minutes as she nodded. She opened her mouth like she was thinking of telling him how their daughter had felt. How Emma had looked like she didn't have much hope as normal and seeing her so broken down made her feel angry again but she just then focused on Henry and nodded, "I'm sure Henry would like that. Give him something to do." She said before she spoke, "Regina is technically a part of this family in a way even if it doesn't seem it. She's Henry adoptive mother and in his life so she's in Emma's." She said. "She came with us to the ship because she knew you were angry and she had a right to sleep you for what you said to your daughter." Snow said. "I know you don't want to loose her, I don't either, but if you keep up acting this way and don't get it sorted out soon then we will loose her for good." Snow said softly before she turned onto her side, her back facing him.

David just layed there, looking at her as she spoke to him, he didn't even get a word in, he didn't want to, it seemed that snow had a lot to say and it had been on her mind for a while. He felt a bit guilty but he didn't really see Regina as family, not yet, and the slap was definitely unnecessary in his eyes. He watched as she rolled over onto his side, both their backs facing each other and he closed his eyes, wanting to just sleep a little until tomorrow.

Snow knew she had more to say but she decided not to. Especially when Henry was so near by that  she was worried he'd overhear and wake him up. She didn't want her grandson knowing the full truth on what all was said in the argument since she knew Emma hadn't even told him all of it. Snow knew he loved David and didn't want him to know the truth and change how he felt. Snow didn't say anything else and just laid there, trying to let herself fall asleep.

Emma let herself lean into his side feeling his arm around her shoulders, letting herself relax into the kiss before she smiled feeling his nose brush against her cheek. Hearing the mention of sleep, she nodded. "I think some sleep sounds good about now." She agreed. It was a long day and right now all she wanted to do was lay next to him and try to get some sleep. She didn't want to think about the argument anymore or that she'd have to eventually figure out a way to get her stuff if she wasn't going to be staying with her parents. Though she was glad that she didn't have very much stuff anyways.

Killian let out a soft chuckle as he nodded, he honestly couldn't agree more. "alright then" he smiled. He locked the door to his cabin wanting to make Emma feel a little bit safer, who knew if David or someone else was going to try and burst in during a fit of rage, he suspected that he may have calmed down a little bit now. He stood up pressing a quick kiss to her forehead and then went to his wardrobe, a few seconds later he returned with a massive white shirt. "you can wear this if you like? It surprisingly will keep you warm, I think I have some joggers here...and I'll see about getting some of your clothes tomorrow" hook offered and took his own shirt off and placed it on top of the dresser. "I'm proud of you swan" he said, admiring her as he leaned across the table.

Emma gave a smile as she watched him lock the cabin door but she was just glad to be here in the ship with him. She sat down on the bed and looked up when he came back with a massive shirt but it made her smile some as she stood and took it. "Thank you," she said as she sat it down, starting to pull her own shirt off when she looked at him. "You've already done enough for me. I think I'll be fine to go get my own clothes.. and David will probably go to the station later so I can go when he's gone." She said since she wasn't sure when she'd feel like she could see her dad again even though she knew it was a small town and they would be bound to run into one another but she'd put it off for now. As she started putting the white shirt on, she looked over at him hearing he was proud. "Proud of me for what?" She asked carefully but seeing how long the shirt was, she started to just pull her trousers down since she wasn't too worried about wearing any.

Hook smiled softly a little but nodded. He averted his eyes a little when she began to get changed just to respect her. "alright...we'll if you need me to get them then I will" he smiled softly and walked over to her reaching out for her hand. He cupped her cheek gently "for today...I'm so proud of you...I know how easy it is to want to withdraw after something like that...to not want to speak to anybody, you spoke to Henry and Snow, and you just amaze me everyday" he smiled and kissed the top of her head.

Emma looked at him but he'd seen the way he averted his eyes but knew he was trying to just be polite. She smiled some as she put her clothes aside for now and looked up at him, leaning into his touch with a small smile. "Well, it's not like I have anything against Henry. Or my mom." She said but gave a smile. "But there was a few moments when I didn't want to talk to them." She admitted but she was glad she had in the end. She smiled some, "I amaze you?" She asked before she reached up to grab  his hand, interlocking their fingers as she gently tugged him over to the bed as she sat down and tugged him down with her just wanting to be in his arms.

Killian smiled sadly as he listened to her, he couldn't imagine the kind of pressure she was under with her parents, friends and son trying to please them all the time, and maybe that was all because of him, but he was sure that they would figure it out. He allowed himself to be tugged by Emma, sitting down next to her, he got himself into bed and rest his back against the board, then pulled Emma to his side and wrapped his arms around her, resting his cheek on the top of her head, his hand resting on her hip. "Yes Emma...you amaze me" he smiled. "In the best way possible everyday" he said and squeezed her hip slightly. "You're kind and you're brilliant and you have a fire in you that won't be tamed by anyone. And I love that" he pressed a kiss to her head and pulled the covers over them. "Try and get some sleep my love" he hummed.

Emma looked up at him with a small smile before she let herself lean into his side, one arm moving to rest over his waist as she laid her  head against his shoulder, listening to his words but it made her smile. "I know we didn't get along at the start but I am glad to have you." She whispered, giving him a small squeeze in return and nodded hearing to sleep, she moved her head to be resting on his chest, just listening to his breathing until she finally just let herself fall asleep, one arm draped across his waist but she didn't realize how tired she actually had been after today so it didn't take her long to fall into a soft sleep.

Killian chuckled softly and looked down at her. "well I don't know about that...I seem to remember always flirting with you" he grinned a bit, he wrapped his arms around her and nuzzled his cheek to the top of her head with a content sigh. "I'm glad I have you aswell" he hummed and watched her for a few moments, it was then that he realised that Emma had fallen asleep. "Goodnight love" he whispered quietly not wanting to wake her, he turned the lamp light off carefully and closed his eyes, falling asleep rather quickly, the weight of Emma resting on him was perfect and made him feel so comfortable and warm. He wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Emma had smiled at his words but she didn't reply, instead she just moved closer to him as she slept soundly. Though her sound sleep didn't last much longer since she had started having what she thought was a bad dream but was really a few memories coming back to her from their trip. Emma suddenly felt her body jolt awake, looking around since there for a few moments she did forget where she was and realized she was in Hook's arms in his cabin and slowly laid back against the pirate, trying to slow her heart rate. Though she will admit that she did have a few bad dreams that involved her worried David would do something but knew that was probably just from the events of today.

Killian felt the bed shift a little but he didn't think too much of it. He thought it might just be Emma shuffling about in her sleep, when he felt the bed dip slightly again he narrowly opened his eyes. "Swan?" He mumbled, he then saw her and something didn't seem right. He sat up slightly and placed his hand softly on Emma's arm rubbing it, hearing her irregular breathing. "Emma what's wrong?" He asked concerned about her.

Emma sat up just a little, although she had been trying to not wake up the pirate as she tried to take a few deep breaths, enough to try and slow her breathing but when she heard his voice, she looked over at him. "Did I wake you?" She asked softly before she heard his question but could hear the concern. "I'm alright.." she promised. "Just.. a bad dream is all." She said and reached over to give his arm a small squeeze.

Killian frowned and gently placed his hand on top of hers giving it a little squeeze. "I'm...I'm here" he whispered, he didn't want to push further about what she had dreamed about especially if she didn't want to talk about it. "Do...do you want to talk about it or try get back to sleep?" He asked softly, not wanting to unsettle her anymore. He took his hand off hers and placed it gently on her chest. "breathe Emma...I'm here. You're safe" he promised.

Emma looked at Killian and smiled a little bit at him, she was glad that she had woken up here next to him and shook her head. "I want to try and sleep. But we can talk about it in the morning." She told him. She didn't want to talk of what she saw right now but knew he was trying to do what he could to make her feel better and didn't want him to feel like she was trying to keep him out and not open up to him even if it could be hard. But she was still tired. Upon feeling his hand against her chest, she let her eyes close, taking a few steadying breaths before she placed her hand over his and lifted his hand to press a kiss against his palm.

Hook nodded softly and cuddled into her, he didn't want her to feel pressured, and after today she deserved to be able to sleep well. He smiled as she kissed his palm, it tickled a little but he didn't mind. He closed his eyes and ran his finger over her lips. "goodnight Emma" he hummed. By the time he had woken up he could tell it was the next morning, he felt very awake and ready to go, he wasn't so bothered about David punching him, he was more upset with how Emma's dad had upset her, maybe he'd have a few words with him today if he saw him. He looked over to his side to see if Emma was still asleep, hoping that the rest of the night she had been able to sleep without interruptions.

Emma smiled some as she laid back down against him. Her arms wrapping around him. "Goodnight, Killian." She murmured softly before she let herself fall back to sleep. By the time the morning came around, she was still asleep but had turned so she was laying with her back to him, one hand tucked under her head, her blonde hair falling around her face. After she had gotten to sleep she had slept the rest of the night but had felt better knowing that the pirate was right there next to her.
