Easily broken

When people think of their childhood they think of happy memories it could be small things like being read a story before sleep or coming back home to their family but if Serena had one wish it would be to forget everything all of it even the happy memories especially the happy memories

Serena Serena her mother yelled you can't keep running it's time to go to bed

But Serena wanted to stay awake and stay with her mother she hated being alone even if it was just to sleep she already felt alone since it was always just her and her mother she had no siblings to play with No cousins no one but her mother

Serena hadn't realized it but her mother caught up with her and carried her to her bedroom they lived in a small house in the village her mother was a maid so her room was small but it was more than big enough in Serena's eyes

As her mother put her on her bed "why don't you listen "she said

"I want to stay awake with you "

"You're only seven years old when I was your age I had to sleep early too"her mother said as she got up to leave the room

"Mama why is it just us"Serena asked

Serena's mother immediately stopped she knew exactly what Serena meant but how could she tell her only daughter that her father abandoned her that he abandoned them both

She turned around and said "because if there was more of us the world wouldn't last a day"

Serena woke up the next morning and looked around the house but her mother wasn't there until suddenly she heard her mother come in

"Where did you go mama"she asked

Her mother pulled her in for a hug

"I'm sorry my love but I have a fever and it appears you do too I checked it temperature last night so I called s doctor "

"You're sick mama "Serena asked

"Don't worry it's nothing serious "

They then had lunch her mother was free today and she even gotten her her very own sketchbook she loved to draw so she ate lunch and went outside and drew the garden she wasn't very good at school but the one thing she could do was draw

She went back inside and had breakfast then spent the rest of her day with her mother she didn't like when she asked about her father but Serena truly believed he would come back for her so she didn't ask questions about him

She couldn't sleep that night so she's went to her mothers room she knocked but her mother didn't answer she knocked again still no answer so she just went in and slept next to her she felt cold even though she has a fever Serena didn't give it much thought she'll ask her tomorrow she said to herself and fell asleep next to her mother

But what she didn't know was that the reason her mother hadn't opened the door like usual the reason why her mother felt cold was that she'd died in her sleep and now was truly all alone in the world
