Just beginning [END OF ARC 1]

The musky scent of the leather seats wafted through the air inside the custom-made car. The engine revved up as Meekeh stepped on the gas and darted through the chaotic streets of Xeonodan. Nea and I settled on the back seat, away from the transporter.

"So he is the escape route? Does this mean the Red Dove has accepted your deal?" Nea asked in a whisper.

"Yup, that's Meekeh. A transporter. Affiliated with the doves," I relaxed my head on the cushiony seat.

"It's Mike! You know what? I don't even care anymore! Call me whatever!" Really, what a hyper guy he is. Taking a few deep breaths, Meekeh continued, "I heard of the deal you made..."

"What?! Why does a transporter care about a low-grade thief's deals?"

"Transporters don't, your friend does."

"Even thieves have grades?!" Nea asked. Meekeh turned to look at her with wide eyes before grinning at me.

"She's not involved in the business, huh? Ma'am, the stores classify potential threats in different grades. Ivan's used to be low ranked one."

"Used to be?" I asked.

"You were promoted," he said matter-of-factly. "Oh, and, the hit is off your head since you killed the assignor."

"Ah, this promotion is gonna make things troublesome now," I sighed. The fast car soon left behind the wrecked city, coursing through the deep woods of Zakall. I recalled the contents of the deal with the Red Dove. The end that I had just fulfilled.

--

... This is what I want from you guys, as for my side of things...

--

"Ivan, the Doves have accepted your deal," Mike said. "There is a catch, though. If you step in Atirior before it, the deal's off,"

"What's with that? Well, I don't mind it much."

"5 years is a very specific time, friend."

"I know..."

--

... You have been trying to put Zakall in your hands for a while now. The president, Illych... I'll get rid of him...

--

"We never got to meet the president in the end, huh?" Nea stretched her hands lightly.

"The president is dead. I confirmed it," Mike said.

Nea made a baffled face. She must have remembered her own words about people dying, as she slowly nodded.

--

... On the 18th of September, the day after the Thunder Knights finish their dungeon run. Send me a transporter to get me out of Xeonodan... Drop me off at Elisbonear...

--

"Where are we going now?" Nea asked after a brief bout of silence. Mike rolled down the windows of the car at her words and placed a hand on the door.

"A small town in Elisbonear, you guys will lie low for about a year."

"What?! A year? Why?"

"Missy, do you know what you guys have done? If it were not Ivan but someone else, you would have had to stick it out in a dungeon for a longer time!"

Again, Nea had no choice but to nod. Eventually, her head slid on my shoulder. "A year, I think it will be fine, right?" she asked, her eyes shut and mouth curved in a smile.

"Yeah, it will be fine." I smiled back.

Things were just beginning...
