The worst kind of man [Bonus chapter]

Bringing his vehicle to a halt in front of the company's revolving entrance, he emerged from the car, his black sunglasses shielding his gaze. Spotting Chris, the guard hurriedly approached, recognizing the familiar figure. Chris opened the backdoor of the car, took out a flower bouquet, and inhaled the scents of the daisies he had bought earlier.

"You can resume your work. Let my car be parked here," Chris told the security guard and went forward. As he walked through the rotating glass door, a few employees on the floor halted to check on him. Chris's fingers deftly slid the sunglasses from their perch, revealing eyes that held a blend of gravitas and charm.

His gaze, a spotlight of confident anticipation, swept ahead. As if the scene before him was the grand crescendo of a symphony he had been composing, a grin unfurled across his lips, an expression that mirrored a mastermind ready to orchestrate the day's endeavors.

Resuming his stride with unwavering assurance, Chris advanced toward the exclusive VIP elevator. His finger pressed the sleek button on the panel, and with silent obedience, the elevator doors gracefully parted. Stepping into the plush interior, he selected his destination on the inner control panel. The elevator hummed to life, ascending with a sense of purpose.

The ascent terminated as the doors slid open, unveiling the uppermost echelon of the building—home to the CEO's domain. Chris emerged, his gait steady and his intent resolute. His path led him past a few of the executives who, taken aback by his presence, cast startled glances his way. Undeterred by their reactions, he pressed forward, a man with a mission.

His journey reached its zenith outside Suzy's office. The glass doors parted, and Chris stepped across the threshold. However, a wave of tension unfurled within the confined space, as Daniel's voice became an unintended spectator to this scene of reunion.

Their conversation pierced the air, revealing a dialogue of discord. Daniel's words painted a less-than-flattering portrait of Chris, a portrayal of a heartbreaker, a man who was labeled as leaving women in a bad mental state.

Chris's face, a canvas of controlled emotions, absorbed every syllable, his presence an uninvited observer to this intimate discourse. His gaze, anchored by a mix of astonishment and contemplation, held steady on Suzy. It was a moment suspended in time for both of them for that moment.

Daniel found Suzy's focus from him lost suddenly and had been focused on someone else in the room. He pivoted and found Chris in front of him, holding a bouquet of daisies. "Your lover is quite angry with me. It seems he doesn't know his livelihood depends on me since this company is alive because of the investment Grandpa made," Chris remarked and approached Suzy with composed strides.

However, before he could reach her, Daniel's figure interposed itself, a barricade of resolve. The room, a theater of emotions, found its spotlight fixed upon this stand-off. "Keep your distance from Suzy. She deserves better than a man like you," Daniel declared, his words weighted with an air of authority.

A chuckle danced in Chris's throat at the proclamation, amusement coloring his demeanor. His gaze slid to meet Suzy's, a flicker of silent understanding passing between them. "Ask him to get out, or else I will kick him out of this company, Wife," he said with an authoritative tone.

The tension, like a coiled spring, grew palpable as the room held its breath. Suzy told Daniel he should give them a room of conversation.

Daniel ignored Suzy's request to him and angrily said to Chris, "I will find a job at another company even if you throw me out." He was not intimidated by Chris's threatening remark.

"Daniel, don't!" Suzy urged him.

"I won't let any company hire you. Then, you may come crawling to me, begging me to forgive you. So, don't make me do that," Chris asserted when Suzy finally came in between them. She turned to Daniel and asked him to leave the office since she would talk to him later.

Daniel looked at her and finally agreed. "I will be outside," he said and walked past Chris.

Once he departed, Suzy's arms folded defensively as she inquired of Chris's presence. "And, I explicitly asked you not to refer to him as my lover. I'm different from you; I don't sleep with anyone like you do," she remarked. "You were meant to be in class, yet here you are, confronting my staff," she murmured.

"He dared to speak against me, and you were there, listening with a proud expression on your face. Does he even know who I am?" Chris queried irritably. "And had you just kissed me this morning, I would've been in college," he reminded her, referencing the earlier condition he had playfully set.

Casting a glance around, he noticed her office adorned with gifts and warm wishes from her employees, celebrating her marriage.

"You slept with Daniel's sister. She loved you and you broke her heart. You don't respect women and think of us as a toy to satiate your sexual hunger," Suzy remarked, Suzy asserted, drawing Chris's focus back to her.

"What nonsense are you uttering!?" Chris's jaw tensed, knuckles whitening as his fists clenched, his grip nearly causing the flower bouquet in his hand to wilt from the pressure.

"You heard me, Chris. You play with women and that's what you make the worst person on this earth. Now, leave before I kick you out," Suzy seethed, her finger jabbing angrily towards the glass door through which he had entered before dropping her hand.

"I didn't come here with the intention of leaving, Suzy," Chris retorted, bridging the gap between them. The daisies in his hand brushed the floor as his imposing figure loomed over her.

"Last night nothing happened between us. I do things only when a woman agrees. The first attempt is made by a woman in front of me. Also, I remind everyone who approaches me with the intention of getting popular among guys that I don't date or love. It's a casual encounter, confined to that boundary," Chris voiced his thoughts to her while boring his gaze at her.

"I don't believe you. I have seen with my own eyes how you were kissing a woman in the club, where you forced me to follow you. You act like an innocent person when you are a culprit to all those women," Suzy proclaimed.

Chris let out a cynical chuckle and broke into laughter, which only deepened the lines of concern on Suzy's forehead.

"If my behavior bothers you so much, Suzy, perhaps it's time to consider divorce. But before you condemn me as the worst kind of man, take a look at your own choices. You willingly became the wife of someone you see as a culprit, all for a meager sum. It makes me wonder if you were ever asked to sleep with someone, would you have hesitated?" Chris leveled the accusation, only to receive a forceful slap across his cheek.
