Truth

To start with, one would only trigger the prerequisite of gaining access to the hierarchy of life if they knew about it. The term gaining access is slightly misleading though, as it reality you don't gain access to it but rather gain the qualification to ascend or descend on it.

To describe it simply the hierarchy of life is a collection of every single species that has or had talents. When someone who has gained access to it reaches level 100, 500 or any multiple of 1000 (1000, 2000, 3000, etcetera) they are presented a selection of races based on the current level, species and talent of the person. Normally for a human it will give an improved human, a variant of human that specialises in something related their talent, a human with a blood line, a species that specialises in something related to their talent, and two other random species. The royal family and government keep such a strong hold on this knowledge so that people don't randomly turn into alien species as they believe that if we all change our species then we will rapidly fall apart, even more than we have now.

I was so drawn in by this information that I almost didn't notice the ding of the system.

[Quest complete: Research the hierarchy of life]

[Reward: Information revealed, access to the hierarchy of life granted]

[Quests updated]

'So, is that enough.' The woman asked.

'Yes ma'am, the quests have now revealed the missing word as well, I have to meet someone who has ascended the hierarchy of life, and ascend the hierarchy of life.'

'Best of luck, you may leave now's the mystery figure said.

'Thank you sir.' I said and left, only pausing momentarily as another ding registered in my mind. I began to read through it as I walked back to the room I was in previously to begin researching and developing the glyphs.

[Quest complete: Meet someone who has ascended the hierarchy of life]

[Reward: 500 Xp]

[250 bonus Xp rewarded]

[Level Up]×7

[You are level 16

[You have 14 stat points to allocate]

[Quest complete: Reach level 10]

[Reward: A skill token

'Firsts things first, assign 7 points to stability and 7 to ingenuity'

[Error: Stability cannot exceed dexterity]

[Error: Ingenuity cannot exceed intelligence or wisdom]

'Okay, then increase Dexterity by 3, Stability by 4, intelligence by 2, wisdom by 2, and Ingenuity by 3, then show me my stats'

[Level: 16]

[Xp: 250/300]

[Strength: 8]

[Dexterity: 14]

[Constitution: 9]

[Intelligence: 15]

[Wisdom: 15]

[Charisma: 7]

[Stability: 14]

[Ingenuity: 14]

'Nice, now what does that skill token do?' I asked, satisfied with my current stat distribution.

[A skill token can be used to gain a skill related to your talent, you may select active or passive when you use it]

'Okay, use the skill token to generate a passive skill'

[Understood]

[Generating]

[00%]

[12%]

[27%]

[50%]

[X rank talent detected, what do you want to have the skill focus on.]

'Have it focus on my affinity' I said confidently, unaware of how rare it is for skill tokens to generate, and how rare it is for them to allow for more user input than determining if it is passive or active.

[Affinity focus determined]

[75%]

[98%]

[100%]

[Passive skill generated]

[First skill bonus applied: quality adjusted to match talent rank]

[Boundless glyph physique]

[Rank: X]

[Effect: Whenever you assign a stat point there is a chance for your glyph affinity to increase by a small amount]

As I read the effect of this skill I felt like slapping myself, if I had used this first I might have increased my affinity, and it should be noted that nearly nothing can boost someones affinity towards something.

As I began to focus on my current task I managed to succeed in creating all but the utility glyph as I merely used the fire and ice glyphs to develop a high pressure water beam, a water wall, and a glyph that slowly freezes a target, slowing them down.

As I collected the rewards I levelled up another 3 times and got halfway to level 20, so I once again increased my ingenuity, intelligence, and wisdom by 1. Along with that I felt my new passive skill trigger once and noticed that I slightly understood the glyphs a bit more.
