Chapter 90

Author's POV:

As Huang Yanyan got settled into her opulent new quarters, chatting animatedly with Wu Ling, the menfolk retreated to Huang Jiang's study for a more private tête-à-tête.

Huang Jiang's face was practically glowing with evident joy as he sank into the plush leather armchair, clearly still basking in the presence of his newly-found granddaughter. Wu Qiang watched his old friend with a fond smile.

"I'm so happy for you, my friend," the Wu patriarch said gruffly. "At least now you won't be doomed to die a lonely old man after all."

Huang Jiang chuckled, topping up their tea cups. "You say that like it's a certainty, Wu. I could well outlive you at this rate."

Wu Qiang harrumphed but didn't disagree. "In any case, it gladdens me to see that youthful spark back in your eyes again. Truly, it's as if the heavens themselves have smiled upon you."
